    NOTE:
    The aux input interface part PAC AAI-NIS is discontinued. Look up the PAC iSimple ISNI531 which is the current model for aux input. The factory radio must have a SAT button

    Thank you for the demo. I hope whoever designed this dash didn't have their job long. Apparently they never heard make it simple stupid.

    Thank-You. I just got a 05 Quest SE with the dual screen rear DVD. I also wanted to continue using my Pioneer DEH 80prs from my last car. I was originally going to completely remove the factory cd changer and audio unit and wire directly into the Bose amp. My biggest reason for not wiring it Directly to the Bose amp which contrary to popular belief can be done with a little work... was that I would loose full DVD audio for when I have more than two passengers in the back as I only have two sets of headphones. The way that you have set up yours will let me keep the rear DVD hooked up and will use the Bluetooth and MP3 capabilities of my pioneer while still letting the rear headphones work and if needed still let DVD audio play though the amp and speakers. Also with putting the Pioneer in I can now bypass that wimpy little 6 inch bose sub... (What a joke of a sub.) and add a good 8 or 10 with a decent little amp into the left side cargo area. Again thank-you for the AWESOME idea for install.

      Hey, thanks for your comment. Many people think with the design of the dash, you can't fit an aftermarket radio in, but as you can see, it can be done. The only thing is the PAC aux input device is not made anymore but I know there are other ones out there now that does the same thing. Or if you lucky, find one on ebay. Just google around or ask your local stereo shop.

    I think this is overkill. I have the 2006 model S. I purchased a fm transmitter mp3 that uses the fm tuner of the stereo. It sounds great and sure beats tearing apart the vehicle because it is powered by the cigarette socket below the factory stereo.

      I haven't had a chance to install one of those, but I would stick with either a Pioneer or Sony as they typically have a better user interface. JVC and Kenwood tend to be not as nice. Also check any reviews of the specific models before buying.

    I watched a video on how to remove the CD player and I had no idea the CD player is the radio its self. They just used a satellite controller for the steering wheel and upper console. Not a whole lot of options available for the Quest as far as after market radios. I need a replacement console cover as mine is broke, they made them so damn thin.

    Hello, im installing a pioneer stereo using the Pac Isimple ISNI531. My question is which is the wire that that would be used inorder to turn on the pioneer when I hit the SAT button. I have tested every wire from the stereo the Pac module and the top dash control, but no luck the only wire i found would b the pink wire from the Pac module that triggers the relay but when i switch back to cd or radio the relay stays on .... so any help on what the correct wire or what other option would work in order to turn on the pioneer when hitting the SAT button ......... thank you

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  9 лет назад

      As you saw in my install, I used the older type and the trigger connected to a relay did work to turn on the deck when SAT selected. If yours does not, you may want to contact pac-audio and see if they can help.

      Doing the install this way will not disable the factory controls, but the aftermarket stereo is connected using the aux input to the factory system, so the factory setup still functions.

      It's not a phone jack. I am not sure but there are 3 or 4 wires connected.

  • @dial2fast
    @dial2fast  10 лет назад +4

    Those who own this Nissan Quest know that an aftermarket stereo install can be made difficult due to the design of the center console. In this video, you will see how I approached this install without doing mssive modification to the console. Also choosing an aftermarket car stereo that is easy to use (preferably with a remote control) will help with the ease of use while driving. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment.

    Not sure if you still read these, but my radio has been popping on startup on my 2008 Quest and I'd have to restart the van for it to work..well, it finally made one loud pop and won't even turn on. It shows engine info on the screen, but the radio functions are all gone. Assuming the factory radio has finally died, would this work so I could put in a head unit? or does the factory unit still have to work? Fuses looked good. Thank you!!!

    • @dial2fast

    • @codystonehill5808
      @codystonehill5808 8 лет назад

      +dial2fast yes but that's an upwards of $240 after shipping lol, just wish there were a way to place the unit with an aftermarket unit by means of a wiring adapter but can't find anything for the Quest..thanks for the tips though, I appreciate it.

    • @codystonehill5808
      @codystonehill5808 8 лет назад +1

      +dial2fast Good news if your stock unit ever dies! I went out, bought a radio, of course one with plenty of extras, and using a Nissan aftermarket radio adapter (this was scosche, available at walmart) It does NOT mention the Quest, but does mention the maxima, and it has the same set up, and it works great! Just wanted to let you know since it seems fairly common to go out on these. Steering wheel controls still work, however, the dash buttons do not. I can live with that and put it in the same place you did yours. Hope this helps you or someone else, and thanks for your feedback.

      dial2fast The control panel with all the volume controls and whatnot work but the radio won't play and the cd changer doesn't work. Can I remove the stock radio and replace it with an aftermarket radio? What kind of wiring harness adapter would I need?

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  9 лет назад

      Richard Beltran Yes you can replace the factory one with an aftermarket one, and you will need the stereo harness to connect from factory plug to the aftermarket radio. You will also nee an antenna adapter for the Nissan. But you will have to control all the functions/ volume from the aftermarket deck. Basically you won't use any of the factory control or display. Check with Crutchfield for the parts you need.

    I just bought this same car, I noticed the same 3rd party radio, and my first thought was, that looks like hatchet and hammer installation, and Micky Mouse was the installer.... as does yours.... I see your limitations.... that is why there has to be a better way if you are just looking for MP3 input.... because it looks like hell.... I'm not sure the previous owner was smart enough to leave the old radio in so the the buttons still work..... I will go check that now, if he did, that will ease the pain some....... OK I'm back, no evidence that the steering wheel buttons or the dash buttons work at all........ shame....
