  • This was both my first day at the Basin, as well as my first time up this particular lift. Watch the top of the Chet's Dream lift where the brave take on the blue run "Spillway" while I do my first crack at Catwalk to Mambo to Home Run - and take it super slow since I do not know the turns, the terrain, or much of anything other than "I GOT THIS". My first turn was super slow because I did not think about uncompressed powder on the shelf. Then I thought that other skiier was checking out my Insta360 One X2 camera on a stick, but nope - he was waiting for his buddy to catch up. My speed through home run was SLOW on this take. Forgive my poor footwork... I am still practicing one foot skiing and parallel methods. The grinding noise at the beginning of the video is the camera mic picking up vibrations of my ski poles up the telescoping camera stick as I move across the dead flat starting area. I've since learned to one poll scoot and let the one holding the camera selfie stick just hang there.

This was my lifetime 8th session on skis
===my skiing history (all is 2023)===
January 7 - learned wedge on my own - figured out how to ski lift thanks to youtube, did lift 3 like a fool, was terrified of the steeps
January 9 - practicing on my own, a little faster runs - mostly lift 7, plus some lift 3 to keep it spicy
January 10 - pro lesson, ski 2 (pole plant, steep is FUN!, better wedge control)
January 13 - fun crash on lift 3 powder on the second steep - got great video of me leaning way too far back to keep control
January 16 - full day on skis
January 26 - full day on skis
January 31 - pro lesson, ski 3 (private, no one else showed up for class!) learning to parallel - tips, tricks, and technique
February 2 - to the BASIN! Comfortable with speed control on all the green runs in the area. My first time going 39mph on skis, without control to stop or steer YET. No crashing though!
