Thank you Glen for the trip. Love your videos especially the snow. Miss it being out here in Australia. Your videos bring back so many memories of childhood for me 😊
Another great film Glenn. Great photography as always. Great for people to watch from the comfort of their homes. Great advertisement for winter tyres too. Great expectations from up on Blakey. Thanks for your informative outlook on our surroundings. 👍
The last time I was on those moors in winter was probably around 1970. A friend and myself were attempting a winter traverse of the Lyke Wake Walk from west to east. We were supposed to meet our support car at "Young Ralph´s Cross" on the Blakey Ridge road We were then planning to continue for a short distance on the Rosedale Abbey road before carrying on east along the moors path toward Fylingdales Moor. When we got to Ralph´s Cross the Rosedale road was blocked by at least a ten foot barrier of snow across it left by the snow plough. No support car to be seen. We eventually located it and my wife in the Lion Inn car park. We terminated the attempted walk at that point. I had a VW Beetle in those days, great traction in those conditions but had to be gentle with braking and steering Where I live now in Slovenia by law you have to fit snow tyres from November to end March so everyone has two sets of wheels and tyres. Our local garage has a fitting, clean and storage service which saves the hassle of swapping wheels over.
Hi. We were the family with the huskies, i wish i had realised it was you as we're followers of your videos and photography. We love the film as always and hope to meet up with you again some time. Take care
Man after my own heart. I love going on a snow hunt. I live in Gateshead. And it was tipping with rain. So decided to drive up the north pennine route to Alston Cumbria. Via the a689. Nearly wished I hadn't of. It was bad.
Well at last you got some, started raining here Sheffield after 7 am,then snow started and came down really heavy, big flakes ❄️, settled very quickly, roads were treacherous, stopped buses running lunch time, schools announced they were closing after 1 so parents could collect children, roads very very slushy and slippery, but all got home safe, a few accidents nearby too. Well done love all the names youve mentioned, take care stay safe 😊
@@joncampbell3641 The one and only time I tried I didnt realise how much ice was underneath. Needless to say I slid further backwards than I went forwards.
Lol, I think you're famous too. Had to laugh when your husband was looking for you. Are you suggesting for one moment that a Yorkshireman will shin up a large stone cross to place money for travellers - If somebody else did, I could agree to a Yorkshireman shinning up to collect the coin. (I say this as a born and bred Yorkshireman).. 🤣🤣🤣 I must confess it looks lovely all that snow.
@@thewhitbyphotographer Most definitely, but thank you for highlighting Castleton to me - I had forgotten how lovely it looks, and I have added it to my list of places I could go to when I return.
