I know this video is old but the highest OS I would upgrade a Mac older than 2012, is to Big Sur as anything older than that doesn’t have a metal graphics card and after Big Sur a lot of applications don’t run well on the old graphics cards because they use OpenGL
I’ve got a mbp mid 2010 13” model 7,1, 16GB RAM (OWC) and a Seagate 1TB SSHD. I tried Monterey but many apps didn’t work, lacks of Metal Library support. It is still upgradable or not? Can I install programs not supported in High Sierra? Thanks in advance, sorry I can’t speak English very well
I think upgradable but it will not be fast and comfortable to use so i recommend staying in High Sierra. You can't install programs that are not supported so you'll have to look for alternatives. Even with the 16GB RAM, you'll see that the bottleneck is the Core 2 Duo CPU. I've got mine at 8GB RAM and the RAM usage doesn't go above 5GB much. I'd recommend either staying in High Sierra or installing Linux like Zorin OS.
@@aliaseveIT it’s an ubuntu based distro with a minimalistic and beautiful interface very similar to macos. Everything works very well, I like also Pop!_OS
I see it on the OpenCore Legacy Patcher list so I think it can, but, I wouldn't advise since it would be very slow. You can upgrade the RAM and the SSD but in the end the bottleneck will be the CPU.
I don't know if it will run fast because even though you've upgraded the RAM and the Hard Drive, your processor will be the bottleneck. You can try using OCLP to install Monterey but it might be sluggish.

@@anuppokharel1935 At first, I wanted to upgrade because I wanted MS Office and iMovie which no longer worked in High Sierra. After installing it, the experience wasn't all that good anyway.
