As long as the latest linux can be installed, it's always a good server option. Most modems and routers only needs 2 cores.

Put Windows 7 32 bit on it and you will get much more modern web browser (chrome (version 95))

With 2Gb ram you could even try Tiny10. With proper optimization it MIGHT run in an acceptable way. I know Linux is better for these cases, but some people need Microsoft-only software

after some days your drive will become corrupt and dead, take action before damage if you dont know technical then learn this is not meant to be used for external hard drive there are many complications to understand before you ruin your drive if only your data is not valuable you can do whatever you want and have lots of money else dont do this your drive will be dead in some days or months after and you will cry of loss both ways drive dead and data gone hard drives are to be dealt with utmost care they are fragile and should not be moved or touched frequently any minute shock can damage its mechanical parts and never try to open drive else all drive damaged ....😅😅😅😂😂😂

looks like a old psu, its better getting a brand new power supply than using a used or old one because of the risks of it (ofc) being old and high risks of also breaking down learned the hard way when i was switching a old pc i found with a gtx 650 which and a psu that had 500w which was nice bexause the old psu had 240w then after 5 months the psu blew up

i have a aspire 2930z which is manufactured year 2009 when my aunt gave me this laptop its very slow and its running on a windows 7 os i upgraded it to windows 10 and quite good but when i downgraded it into 8.1 everything is fast! start up boot and such so i recommend you guys dont upgrade it into win 10 os if u have a laptop like mine INTEL PENTIUM(R) DUAL CORE CPU T4200 4GB OF RAM

I actually did the same thing you did, but instead of completely ditching the original housing I removed all the internals, did a bit of snipping to fit the controller board in nicely and just used the whole original frame as the housing. Hope this gives anyone some cool ideas.
