Residences of the Royal House of Savoy 🇮🇹 Turin, Italy

- Опубликовано: 2 мар 2020
- When Emmanuel-Philibert, Duke of Savoy, moved his capital to Turin in 1562, he began a vast series of building projects (continued by his successors) to demonstrate the power of the ruling house. This outstanding complex of buildings, designed and embellished by the leading architects and artists of the time, radiates out into the surrounding countryside from the Royal Palace in the 'Command Area' of Turin to include many country residences and hunting lodges.

My great grandfather was "national security advisor" to Umberto I and for a short time Vittorio Emanuele III
Wow!!!! Aren't they buried in the Pantheon in Rome?
My great great great great grandmother was one of the daughters of King Victor Emmanuel II of Savoy
Are you related to James Galante. Different spelling but that changes due to immigration sometimes.
Such beautiful buildings,,
I realy enjoy the historicaldescriptive naritive of the buildings👍❤️🇳🇦
Beautiful history
wonderful!
Espectacular!!!
I wish they could have shown the interiors of these beautiful places, as well.
There are no interiors.
@@malcolmbell3201 there are interiors, most of these structures were created in the Baroque period and the interiors had the same attention as the exteriors, I suggest a quick google search because some of them are truly magnificent
Probably is empty. Stolen in possession of present elite. 😊😊
I'm related to most if the people here. Francois Savoie married Catherine Lejeune in 1655 ,left France for Arcadia, My great grandparents many times over.
My Grandpa, James P. Savoie is from this same family line. Great grandpa Fierdnand came from Canada to Papineau, Illinois he was a farmer, and the family still lives there today. Nice history. I've found so much info. I live in Minnesota, Benson is my l married name. Wish we could text.
"Francois Savoie married Catherine Lejeune" Then you and I are cousins!!! ALSO, the Savoie's married into so many different Royal Houses, if you have any ancient European Royal House in your ancestry, you are probably related to the Savoies! My Dad's Mom was a Boucher/Choquette, and both lines went to the Savoies!
You crazy you not royal
Beautiful, I really love medieval times designed, Soon I will my OWN too. ;-)
I'm italian. My family was from the Savoyard Territory, previous to it Helvetians (Gaulish).
One of my ancestors was a servant, then Chamber Musician to Carlo Emmanuele I, he was then made Baron and Feodal Lord in Feod Costa in Valle d'Oneglia and Feod Maria in Nizza.
Does anyone know what the metal window structure is at 21:28??? What is it for? etc...
This is very interesting and informative, but mostly the video doesn't relate to the description.
Nice smog too.
That’s mainly fog...like, clearly more fog than pollution...

Planet historical piece 🌹🕊
love italians
One of the savoy Dukes went by the name Senzaterra. Very similar to the Italian surname, Sanzottera. Is this the same family?
Thanks for your question. We don’t think that the two names are connected. We haven’t found any evidence for that
@@TravelAndDiscover Thank you. The name also appeared in England with John Lackland and in France with Charles, the Count of Valois. Been looking for a connection for a long time.

I’m related to the Francois Joseph Savoie House of Carignano House of Savoie of turn Italy
Good. Most Italians hate you now.

I don't know much of their back ground tho.... Just finding out new stuff every day....
@@unspokenone5187 Yeah, both my Dad's Mother's lines went back to the Savoies!
Let them and their children clean it and upkeep it themselves.

10:35 WRONG. The Palazzo Carignano was built for the 2nd Prince of Carignano, Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy. His title was not a sovereign one.
What public American charities are supported by these people?
Because they still own and rule this world!

Devil royal.
Quite hideous structures until 22.00 and the gardens are just bearable.
Makanya tidak usah ada fitnah dajjal. Memang ALLAH SWT. tidak bodoh. Huuuu jangan mengaku Tuhan bu. Sudah di kasih negara Italy masih rakus ajah.
Residences?? I don't think so. The Savoy's never lived in them--the interiors are bare--never have been liveable. The exteriors are basic like most Italian buildings and the Italians have never cared for interiors.
It's quite the opposite.
empty and essential there is only your head
All these buildings could be in a lot betters state just as most of Italy in fact - - old, neglected, exterior walls in need of a good rendering - - why nobody cares ? Why arent local councils fine anyones property ? even Unesco sites are in a abandoned state - -
@@rob5197 the video is from 3 years ago and many of these buildings have been renovated, but I think the problem is that what you see that hasn't been renovated is the type of building that is different from your country, in Italy the laws are very strict where reconstructions are prohibited. then we have such a large number of historic buildings that restoration is impossible, we are not America with 4 buildings
Except Florentines and Venicians, as well as Sicilians!
Too much unnecessary talking.
