It so cool to see the casino played in the context of the song. I got to hear you do all the nuances of the solo while you recorded it and you totally nailed it and knew all the different pick up sounds to use for the song. Really great job on this one! Love it!
And another thing...! Michael's version showed up in my YT suggestions just now, and of course I gladly clicked on it because...Michael! And in (trying to) sing along, as we probably all do, I noticed, maybe for the first time, the strange construction of the song. It picks up with the chorus with zero instrumental intro. Paul jumps right in! And then the lyrics just don't stop. The only breaks come just before Paul's little fills, and even then they're really short. No pauses or breaks in the action. Just a brilliant song and oh-so-tight arrangement - maybe my all-time favorite Beatles song.
Spot on. The effort and hours of work you devote to each song is appreciated by all. Want to make sure you know that. As for the original, another example of George's sudden lack of influence on songs he does not write. Not that long ago he was steering the overall sound in a direction, based on his choice of guitar. Not now.
It was kinda sad reading that George attempted his own version of the guitar fills, and Paul just replaced them the next day! I get why George felt so stifled!
Well….there you have it. The best cover of “Another Girl” on RUclips 🙂 Not sure there is much point in anyone else trying it now! There is a surprising amount going on in this track considering that the Beatles thought it was just a “filler”. The middle eight “Another Girl who will love me to the end” is very “Un-Beatley” to me but it sounds really good. There is a nice groove to it that the vocals totally cover over. It’s nice to hear it with the vocals stripped out. Really nice work once again Michael and thanks for taking the time and care to not only do these, but do them with such care and attention.
Michael, I remember playing this 30 yrs. ago in a little pub downtown in Green Bay, Wi and some beautiful woman came up to me and said, " Who did that song?" I told her it was from the Beatles from the motion picture " Help " and she said " Oh, I'll have to check them out and the movie. I was speechless til someone yelled out, " Another Beatles song! ". Great memories. Got a million of 'em. Great job on the tune. Doug
You got Paul's licks down (the sound is very close-really close) and the tuning down a 1/2 step or somewhere in between...on both ticket to ride and Another girl....yes, always thought it was the same session the way they sounded so similar...such good music and you have definitely worked hard to capture it. Great job. Technology today is incredible but in talented hands-which like all those following you on this journey would agree! Thanks for sharing. very well done.

You’re spot on by mentioning how packed this song is. Creativity in optima forma. Those lead fills are such fun. Thanks again mr Sokil. I can’t say that enough.
I've recently found all your videos, and I must say that your job is wonderful!. If you listen carefully to this song from Help! with headphones, you'll find that there's a drum overdub (heard in the middle while the drums can be heard on the left channel). Maybe it was the first time that Ringo overdubbed a drum part. We know that, from 1965, it would be very usual to do so. Congratulations!. Regards from Argentina.
Wow. What other word can be used? Just...wow. 1) For those of us who were around at the time of the originals, it's amazing what an emotional connection we have with Beatles songs, even all these years later. Like this one - you listen to it over and over and go, "Holy crap, did they stick a bunch of stuff in their songs!" Trouble is, we casual listeners (i.e. non-musicians) tend, I think, to focus on those awesome vocals to the point that we can't really hear the instruments...until Michael Sokil comes along and we're enlightened all over again like hearing the songs for the first time. And what a terrific song! Too bad that Alan Pollack dismisses it so casually as "not one of Paul's career highlights" and calls the lyrics, "pedestrian." What does he know! (He also mistakenly credits the lead guitar fills to George - pfft!) 2) Those lead guitar fills are so central to this song! We all, like Alan Pollack, probably assumed George was playing them. And so our minds are blown to find out that it was Paul. But then it makes perfect sense, especially when we know how good of a guitar player he is (e.g. "Carry That Weight"). I wonder if this is one of the first times when George was overshadowed by Paul, and perhaps the cause of his building resentment? Or...maybe the pace of their recording was such that George didn't realize at the time that his fills had been replaced? I cannot imagine that they all had time to lounge around the studio, listening to the finished products, since the demand to write and record more material was so high. Must have been some crazy times back then. Thank you so much, Michael!
The point is that the three original Beatles were All guitarists. Paul having a musical dad and natural gift was always more versatile and able to switch round, so when they needed a bassist they all naturally turned to him, but he has never stopped being a guitarist
wow, sounds very good. i was struck by a group of cyberbullies today but listening to this cover really cheered me up, there's no way that they think this is gay
Wow - loving this pace! Love that trailing lead lick at the end. That's all the Help! originals. Are you gonna do Lizzy & Act Naturally? Have you plotted out the order you're going to follow?
I have a big life change happening next week (new job) and I have only a couple spare days until then (including today), so I will absolutely continue to spoil you, haha. Expect “Act Naturally” tonight and “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” as the closer tomorrow or soon!
Aka the song with The Beatles in The Bahamas (as seen in the movie), as well as the only song sequence where George ends playing both John's Rickenbacker 325 Rhythm Guitar and Paul's Hofner Bass (Right-handed) (The latter also had Ringo playing the Gibson J-160E right handed (Even though we know that Ringo is left handed like Paul) as well as John briefly playing Ringo's Ludwig drum kit) respectively. Thus, it still makes it one of the most unique Beatles song sequence in any media whatsoever. But regardless, the Bahamas scenes in Help! are still classic to this day.
Every thing you do that I've seen has been right on, this is the first time I've seen you the slightest bit off...;) That lead Paul plays is on the bridge pickup, with the tone rolled off. Recorded on the same day as Ticket To Ride, it is the exact same sound he uses for his fills in that song! ;)
yeah I heard two different tones when I studied this, so I decided to switch during the song between the middle and bridge pickups. in hindsight, I think you're right. all bridge pickup.
@@MichaelSokil Thanks for not taking offense, I get a ton of enjoyment watching your videos, the only one I ever saw that did "Ticket To Ride" the right way too ;)
I wonder if you plan to publish (or sell) isolated videos (with tab?) of your Beatles catalog? (I mean why not? you've done the hard work already). I use a Mac app called Capo to isolate the bass by frequency and location in the channels on Beatle tunes and sometimes it's easy when the bass is not down the center (as it is many times for vinyl so the needle doesn't jump off the record) and either more in right or left channels. If you are not going to add isolated videos laters, perhaps you could move the instruments around in the recording for easier isolation???
I think Paul's Casino had a bigsby so that would've been cool too see and hear for the tremolo parts in this song and in ticket to ride. Great covers though!
Brilliant cover! Very nice Casino. Your personal Casino is the Elitist model, right? How does it stack up to that '65? :) My first real guitar was a Korean Casino, which I regretfully sold many years ago to buy a midi keyboard... I've already changed the electronics and redone the bone nut.
One, could you comment on how you choose your guitar amps? Early in the series you used Vox Mini3 G2 now it seems you have switched to Vox Valvetronix VT100X Guitar Combo Amp. Two, do you use these same modelers with the Hofner bass? And three, does the output go directly to your soundboard or a mic'd amplifier? Thanks!

Bass is played through an Ampeg BA-112, with a Shure SM57 close mic’d and my Condenser 6-8 feet away to capture room noise.
