    Your OEM factory reset videos are amazing. I don't see many people record the full OEM factory reinstallation process. Please keep it up!

    Very Good! I have a Dell Vostro 3558 with an Haswell CPU (i3-4005U) and native with Windows 8.1, 4 GB RAM, SSD (not native) 480 GB, and 1366x768 display . Now this PC runs the latest Windows 10 (22H2) but for me Windows 8.1 was good and I'm going to trying it on VirtualBox....
    Haswell CPU for basic usage are good even in 2024

    following your input, I did the same restoring an HP Compaq 6710b; originally Windows Vista Business 32bit 2GB RAM and 320GB HHD., working very fast. Then, I upgraded it to Windows10 64bit, 4GBRAM, 120GB SSD. Works great without bloatware and I still can use the embedded fingerprint scanner too! And I am talking about a 2007 laptop...

    Would this recovery work if you converted the DVDs to ISO files and then made bootable USB drives with each ISO file?
    Edit: Never mind, I figured it out. I can just combine the contents of the other DVDs into the first ISO file.

    i expected windows live 2011/2012 to be included + windows movie maker,it was included in my sony pc and probably some hp desktop too, nice music!
    i recommend to use a capture card, cheap ones cost like $10, they have mono audio and delay but it shouldn't be a problem in your case

      @TheComputerGuy96  2 года назад

      Windows Live isn't included here. I think that's a Windows 7 thing, not 8.
      I already have a cheap EasyCap capture card with composite and s-video. For my computers I'd need an HDMI capture card which isn't cheap

    Does the recovery partition work? I tell you, so I can create another second recovery kit?

    • @TheComputerGuy96

      The recovery partition works, but you're only allowed to make one set of recovery disks.

      You can't use these HP recovery discs on a virtual machine. It has to be a real HP 15 Notebook PC.

    Note: Windows 10 can be activated with Windows 7-8.1 Product Keys even if you are installing ex-novo Windows from USB.... i don't like in-place upgrades

    • @TheComputerGuy96
      @TheComputerGuy96  6 месяцев назад

      I read that the free Windows 10 activation with Windows 7/8 product key no longer works since last year. I can't verify it because all my compatible computers have already had the free upgrade, but that may be a problem. You can still install 10 for free, but the activation may not work.

    • @GiuseDriverSA
      @GiuseDriverSA 6 месяцев назад

      @@TheComputerGuy96 It only affects Windows 11... my computer has a Windows 8.1 OEM Key and today I've reinstalled Windows 10, no problems with activation

    • @TheComputerGuy96
      @TheComputerGuy96  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I've done that too recently and it still works. It's re-using your existing digital entitlement license.
      I mean a brand new Windows 10 activation with Windows 7/8 key, on a computer which never had Windows 10 before. That's probably no longer valid unfortunately.

    Hello, does it work for any HP notebook, for example the 15-bs0xx model?

    • @TheComputerGuy96
      @TheComputerGuy96  11 месяцев назад

      Maybe. Download and try the first disc only. If it has no error, then you can get the other discs as well.

    Can u do video about upgrading every version of windows 10 on it? From 1507 to 21h2?

    • @TheComputerGuy96
      @TheComputerGuy96  2 года назад

      I'd have to download several gigabytes of ISO files, then wait several minutes for every upgrade (which is tedious even with an SSD), and look for the tiny differences in each new version (which I don't know). It's all the inconvenience of upgrading a full OS with none of the excitement, so I think it's not worth it.

    Привет, видео отличное. Но есть вопрос, а что, если у меня нету hp recovery manager? Как можно переустановить windows со всеми заводскими программами? Которые были при покупке ноутбука. Мне не найти установочный диск на ноутбук hp pavilion 15 n211sr. Сейчас на нём простой windows 8.1 без программ...

    • @TheComputerGuy96

      Open "This PC" and check if there's a drive called "Recovery". If there is, you can use it to re-install Windows and HP software: go to Start, hold down Shift while clicking on Restart, and then there should be an option to reset the PC. If there isn't a recovery partition, you can't restore the HP software.

      And does we need any software like recovery manager to to use the iso or just put disc and boot and automatically it opens it recovery page?

    • @TheComputerGuy96
      @TheComputerGuy96  Год назад

      Burn the ISO files to DVD R/RW then just boot from the first disk. Download and try the first disk only. If it boots up successfully, you can then download and burn and use the other discs

    Are you crazy? Delete all data just to restore obsolete OS. What have you been smoking?

    • @TheComputerGuy96
      @TheComputerGuy96  Год назад

      The data I deleted is backed up. I did this just to explore this computer's original software. I can always re-install a better OS.

    Stop using Windows 8.1! It’s ending support next year!

    • @TheComputerGuy96

      This computer has been running Windows 10 for most of its life. I only installed 8.1 for this video, to show the software it originally came with. I actually hate Windows 8 (or 8.1, same thing)
