Hey :) I've been watching your videos for quite some time now, and I'm glad you tried Windows Update Restored (I'm the founder)! I've noted the two non-installing updates and I'll fix them as soon as possible. As for the "We absolutely need your help!" warning, it's because we're missing files that only old machines from pre-2011 contains.
Great work, thank you for that site! I don't have any pre-2011 Windows 9x installations, but if you mean any old Windows installation on a pre-2011 machine, even if installed recently, I can send that folder from this Windows ME (and maybe other pre-Vista versions if I try them again).
@@TheComputerGuy96 You're welcome! Unfortunately, we need the folder from Windows 9x installations from pre-2011, because Windows Update was shutdown in August of 2011 :/ The files you have are from Windows Update Restored.
@@falcconplanesyeah Michael always sucks like WHY YOU NEED TPM 2.0? And some requirement uselessssss thing it would be logic to have 64 bit only still it's UI cool but suck it's laggy ah
The irony is that my main laptop has TPM 2.0, but it still doesn't meet requirements because the CPU isn't new enough. I did try Windows 11 with bypassed requirements and it runs fine with no lag, but it doesn't get newer feature updates (23H2, 24H2, and so on) so you have to update manually every single year. Awful artificial requirements.
Tried getting Windows ME to function on a Dell laptop from around the same time period and it too shows up that exclamation point under the IDE controller operating the CD-ROM drive, even after resolving the IRQ conflict on the main storage controller as to be able to shutdown properly. Only workaround I could find was leaving it disabled for the timebeing until I need to use it, to which it can be enabled without a restart (since that otherwise brings it back to square one)
@@TheComputerGuy96You probably can since the installation discs are rather generic, it’s usually harder to come across the actual recovery partitions with the bundled-in goodies already included.

There's not much point in installing Windows 2000 on a computer designed for XP. Just install XP and apply the classic theme on it. Nevertheless, I did try it: mastodon.social/@compguy96/112415864787027855

@@captainter06 have you tried looking on archive for old 9x HDD dumps? like from pos systems or other 9x images?
Windows ME is basically Windows Vista's dad
Windows 11 grandpa
I had such a horrible experience wirh windows 11 that it probably is just as bad as vista and me

You’re still alive after 15 years?
Isn't that the desktop pc we saw on counter strike 1.6 😂
Maybe...? I don't know that game. There were other similar-looking Dell models too
You can try ReactOS
Good suggestion! It's been a few years since I last tried ReactOS
@@TheComputerGuy96 hopefully you will be able to get sound and USB to work, because I've been struggling with it, even on a virtual machine
Is good for older games look at abandonware.
needs a dell oem install of windows vista xp or vista
I couldn't find restore disks for the 170L, but I'll see if I can try something for a similar model.

Correct:
Windows ME (Millennium Edition) with Microsoft Office 2000 (1999) & Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise
Windows 2000 with Microsoft Office XP (2001) & Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 is correct
Incorrect:
Windows ME (Millennium Edition) with Microsoft Office XP (2001)
Windows 2000 with Microsoft Office 2000 (1999) & Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise
what.
No.
Windows Me's release (September 2000) is actually closer to Office XP's one (May 2001) than to Office 2000 (June 1999).
If it's compatible it's not incorrect. Use the software versions you prefer.
What about Windows 2000 & Windows XP this PC dual boot ?
