I remember these models! I've had Travelmate 2410 back in a day, very similar model. Looks like broken Acers from that era is a common thing - your has broken GPU, mine had broken back panel and hinges
2:10 I would get a Framework Laptop if I needed a new laptop today. Since external DVD drives are very inexpensive nowadays, I would use one of those, and have a USB-A port for connecting it up. Personally, I would only have a single USB-C port on a Framework Laptop - the one for charging it up.
The Framework laptop seems nice, but its keyboard doesn't have a trackpoint (I use the one on my ThinkPad very often) and customizing it can get expensive. Having just one USB-C port on it wouldn't be enough for me, I don't want a lot of dongles like on a new MacBook. I was using the Aspire 1690's DVD drive in a USB enclosure. It worked, but it's not as convenient as an internal drive.
That's how Microsoft translated it, because the Italian word for Welcome varies depending on gender. On Windows 8 it says "benvenuto" (the male form which is "default") and on Windows 10 they finally came up with a gender-neutral version: "ti diamo il benvenuto" (= we welcome you)

Then, they are supposed to ask during the setup the gender of the user, and then use Benvenuto or Benvenuta
I'm guessing this model only have problem with gpu that often fail since I've seen similar models are also die due to gpu failure
So have I. For some reason many laptops from around 2005 had poor integrated GPUs.
