Stop wearing Hoka shoes. That huge cushion and heel elevation makes it feel like you're walking on a cloud, I know. But it's making your feet, ankles, legs and back weaker. That is because an elevated heel like hoka shoes has pushes your body, head and posture forward. This also contributes to an anterior pelvic tilt which is where your pelvis tilts forward. This causes back pain, kneck pain and all types of issues up the kinetic chain. Hoka shoes will lead to many chiropractic appointments.
Shoes that mimic barefoot walking and are minimalist is what you want, like xero shoes. This is exactly the opposite of the overly cushioned hoka shoe cloud that you currently walk on.
That's because this cushion creates less mobility and flexibility.. when your ankle, feet and legs don't have as much natural range of motion they become atrophied.
This is why I recommend avoiding Hoka shoes. They will damage your posture over time. They will cause you pain, tightness and tension over time. It's a short term solution to feel comfortable but will harm and hinder your mobility, flexibility and strength in the long-term.
I had horrible knee pain when I was just 19 years old because I was wearing Nike shoes that elevated my heel and caused my knee posture to be thrown off. This lead to lower back tension as well.
It wasn't until I switched to Xero shoes that I felt my ankle mobility, strength and flexibility come back. It may take a little bit of transitioning to these new shoes, but you'll notice the benefit in the long run.

I'll say this... first, I don't know how I came across this video but it popped up on my feed. Anyway, I've been battling against the fact that my new shoes, Brooks Ghost 15, heel at 10mm, has really caused me shin splints, tight calves, and knee issues. I have gone back to my "normal shoes", which have a 6mm heel, and I feel closer to "normal". I love the Brooks and their look, but for running and strength training, not so much.

Added to plastic soles most non leather shoes are bad for us. Plastic changes us in so many ways and we all accept as part of aging
