    Just seen your video and it came out really nice. Harold was right about the mirrors by using ca glue. You can make one small hole drilled into the cab to get your support bracket started. As for the fender mud flap use black construction paper. You can attach them using canopy glue that dries clear. The paper is way thinner than the plastic and its color is spot on for a black mud flap. Enjoy your builds and have fun.

    Hey there, you did a fabulous job on the Diamond Reo truck, and trailer. You are very right, the AMT kits can be very frustrating at times. I built this kit about a year ago, now my hood will close and open without rubbing the battery boxes . Its very close, I mean its so close that the few times I have opened and closed the hood there are very slight rub marks on the fenders of the cab. Now as far as the mirrors go, there was a time that I quit building any of my AMT big rigs because of the mirrors. I started using a good quality CA glue with a good accelerator , and now the mirrors go together very easily and nicely . I used to curse and just dread getting to that point of the kit. Like I said that works great for me, I just put my accelerator in a clear tube like an eye dropped, and after the two meet together it gives you about 4 seconds to get your pieces in place, and its set up. So yes you need to work quickly but I don't make a mess of my nice paint jobs anymore. I hope maybe this will help you too. I keep hoping that since round 2 is reproducing these kits they will listen to us modelers and make the mirrors in a one piece mold. I have and know several others who have emailed Round2 about this and asked if its possible. There are other issues with the AMT kits, like the instructions are not always clear on parts placement. I'm like you , if you can get past all of the little frustrating things you will end up with a nice build. Good luck to you, its not just you, we all have problems with these kits. Great video!!

      Thank you... im glad im not the only one with these issues. On my old youtube channel I swore I would never build another amt kit and now I have a fleet of them. While they are overly challenging, in the end they do come out quite nice.

    To have the mud flaps on the hood .This is what I have dun I have dun this kit .You use a good sticking clear tape a small strip an you tape it securely to the back side of the fender.😊

      I would say half of any kit I build is held together with super glue. The problem with superglue is it is brittle. Very strong but brittle. another issue with super glue is the haze it leaves behind on chrome parts. But if you are careful it is a great glue to use.

    If you look at the box art on the side of the box, it shows the mud flaps are glued to the bottom of the battery boxes, not the hood assembly.

      HHmmm... I will take a look, I know the instructions say otherwise. I never thought of gluing them there. Thank you

    Nice Truck and what type of glue do you use

    • @lazydayhobbies1540
      @lazydayhobbies1540  2 года назад +1

      I use Tamiya extra thin and a model glue I found at my hobby lobby called extreme power medium. The extreme power glue is in fact very strong and if you use too much of the thin variety it will start to break down the plastic in your model kit.

    If you’re going to keep the hood closed , just close the hood an then mount the mud flaps to the fenders,

    hey amt bigrig kits are great if you want to get over your hate of them do this build one using only the box photos NO papers.

    • @lazydayhobbies1540
      @lazydayhobbies1540  Год назад

      i feel like I already do that since the instructions are so often terrible. I have said many times the kits are actually quite good so I dont hate them nearly as much as I use to.
