Also, having most Pride merch online just screams in the closet to me too. It felt very performative and greedy to me tbh.

I ask because I know Starbucks claims that they are accepting of the LGBTQ community and have allowed their employees to wear pins showing their pride. I work in a kitchen otherwise I would have worn my pansexual flag pin with my outfit

Target bowing to transphobes is disappointing, but I know SO.MANY.QUEERS who currently or have worked at Target. Some Targets seem to be staffed entirely by young queers it's so fun when I find those! In 2010 the company got hella hate for a campaign donation to a homophobe and was lightly boycotted. They turned their shit around and have been one of the most consistently supportive companies since, especially towards employees. My experience with big corporations regarding pride. Back in 2015, before I immigrated to Canada, I spent part of June in Toronto, and every big corporation out there was celebrating pride with all colours that brought tears of joy to my eyes. When I went back to my birth country, Turkey, which is very problematic with queer rights, there was only one big corporation celebrating pride in its shops. Lewis. I hate all big corporations, but since, when I need pants, they're my number one choice. In my own experience, Starbucks is the weasal when it comes to pride, they pretend they're all-inclusive and blabla, only places where diversity isn't a thing.
Living in the suburbs, good thing i have no desire to be a farmer. I have a Tractor Supply near me, so it will be an easy avoid. Besides, I live in a condominium, so I can’t really do anything. Lmao!
I am in a progressive gay area and the Target near me had no pride selection this year we had no issues last year so it sucks they didn’t do it in store this year
I literally live in a gayborhood in a blue city in a blue state, and our nearest targets didn't stock any pride stuff this year. If it wasn't in stores here, I'm not convinced they sold it in any stores
i literally wanted the pride glasses from target and i ordered them but after my order was pending for a weeks it was canceled because it was out of stock.
i would put spencer's gifts in s tier just based on personal experience. i live in who cares, mississippi and spencer's at my nearby mall is one of the few places i could get pride stuff. after moving out from unsupportive family, i collected a good collection of pride clothing and other stuff cause i could openly wear them. i also love "alternative" attire, so also a plus on top of that, i talked with one of the employee's about our experiences being queer and how the store is a safe space for us. so yeah, definitely my top pick! (probably should've also gone to hot topic in the same mall as well, but probably best i didn't spend too much money when i got bills and groceries to buy XD)
5:30 SKITTLES DID HAVE A DIFFERENT FLAVOR FOR A WHILE AND I WAS RIGHT PISSED ABOUT IT. They changed LIME to GREEN APPLE and it was the WORST DECISION THEY'VE EVER MADE. Fortunately about a DECADE LATER they changed it back and called it "the original lime-up". The green apple flavor overpowered all the other flavors when you threw a handful in your mouth it was too much and it got gross quick.
I went to the New York pride parade this year and the funniest pride campaign was the progress flag displayed at the harry potter store across the street from the parade
I already watched this video a month or so ago and I loved it. The idea of ranking pride campaigns was genius. I'm commenting now because I would love to know your thoughts on Josh Seiter. You may not know who that is, I didn't either, I just followed them because I thought they were hot. Now, they have come out as a transgender woman, but something isn't adding up. First and foremost, they follow accounts on Instagram such as Libs of TikTok, Gays Against Groomers, Matt Walsh, and Oli London. Second, they have done things to get attention before. They faked their own death, and even pretended to be in love with two famous women in the past. Third, their content just screams that they are making fun of trans people, especially considering the accoutns they follow. It's deeply upsetting to me as a trans ally, but I would love the perspective of a trans creator. Love you and your content, keep it up! 🤗
Target's pride collection, at least at my store, was just sad this year. And they moved the display to the back when its always been up front by the entrance in years past 🤬
12:12 Hot Topic actually has the option to round up and/or donate to LGBTQ organizations! I cant remember specific ones (I think the Trevor Project is one), but the one I go to has the option to donate year around. Live laugh love Hot Topic
I don't know how I feel about Target's decisions. I doubt this is the first year they've got violent threats for supporting Pride and gay people. I also know money means more than lives and a mass murder at a store would be a PR nightmare, but I'd like to think they feel asking their lowest paid employee's to risk their lives to sell their stuff was just too big of an ask.
Im pan, and this years pride merch just sucked i didnt see anything i wanted 😂 Im also very annoyed at Danessa Myricks beauty for their pathetic excuse for a pride campaign, where the only identity specified, was an ally, and they only donated after people threw a fit, and they didnt even donate to an LGBTQ+ organization. So they did a pride campaign that doesnt help or advocate for anyone other than the straights.
I was VERY upset about Target this year.. I understand that they want to keep employees safe but they are a multimillion company I'm sure they could afford to do something to ensure safety instead of just pulling the pride collection off the shelves. I get it, bigots are scary and violent but if those companies back down then they're letting those bigots win. I think it's becoming a time where companies need to invest in security at least during pride month.. they won't stop so we just need to find a way to keep ourselves safe while not backing down.
I need to get this off my chest! I bought the sally Hansen insta dri pride collection and it was a) more expensive b) way too watery and runny c) IT WAS NOT INSTA DRI it took so long to dryand d) the colours were WAYYY too clear you needed 7000 lares to see it I have never had a worse pride collection in my life nor seen a worse nail polish -1000000/10 that sh1t was over 50$
Also, you forgot Disney's pride collection. It's a little smaller this year but their collections are usually dismal (pun intended) because all it is are merchandise of Mickey and Stitch colored in rainbow colors. I mean, they tried to capitalize on Stitch's popularity with lesbian scene queens but we all know this felt forced.
Ok, wait though. That’s not a Pride bird. That’s Tippy Hedron from The Birds, but as a bird. What does that have to do with Pride? That’s so disappointing to me.
It's easy as an outsider to critisize a company for prioritizing the safety of their employees and customers. I don't want anyone to get hurt because some bigots attack the store employees. I don't think that it's fair to say that some 16 year old kid in Missouri take a bullet for me, a trans woman in Seattle. Target needs to figure out what to do and law enforcement needs to figure out how to deal with this. Law makers need to get involved with more than just words. Asking the employees or customers to risk their lives for a war they aren't even part of is not fair to them.
Target has more than enough money to hire security for their stores for ONE month jfc. But I doubt law enforcement would do anything about it given they're more likely to be more bigoted than anyone.
I can give target SOME leeway. I don’t like they removed stuff with certain lgbtqia+ creators. BUT. I can image the stress target was under when conservatives were destroying some of the signs and stuff. And Utah, someone literally sent a bomb threat to one of the stores and they had to evacuate. So I get why they reeled back in, when there was a bomb threat. It’s a grey area
Target said they stopped sticking pride things bexause of the danger... but just hire security? If people were vandalising other stuff like the target sign or something they wouldn't take it down. 🙄
If you half-ass pride, that's worse than not talking about it at all IMO. Target is trying to do the bare minimum to keep their LGBTQ+ employees, and it shows.
Sadly it seems a few more companies along with Target are pulling back from Pride stuff.....Lowes and Tractor Supply being these. Don't let the few angry voices cancel out support.
I haven’t seen you on my feed in so long. Sadly I’ve had bad experiences with trans people, but watching your videos reminds me that I probably just had bad luck when I met those people
Thank you so much for giving us another chance instead of deciding to hate trans people as a whole! It really makes a difference and I completely get that it can be hard sometimes. You're doing great from what I can tell in your comment :D
So, tbh I hate and feel sad about Target scaling back. Meijer seemed to as well. I don't think rainbow capitalism is the best thing for us, but taking it out of physical stores does limit people that may have a smaller budget or can't ship stuff to their homes discreetly. The Meijer near me had a lot of rainbow stuff in 2023, and as of this year they had a few rainbow stuff on those displays in the middle of the isle in MAY!!! By June it was GONE.. WTF?
I honestly wish we had a different way to refer to The LGBTWIA+ people. As an Asexual, I wish there was more generalized umbrella term. Not just the first letters of a couple of identities and a + for the rest. Maybe if we had a set name that didn't confuse people as they say with all the letters. That excuse of not understanding couldn't be used. We could possibly be identified and understood better too. Idk like the Pride or Acceptance community or something. When I was researching about gender identity. I saw those two words a lot.

Definitely
PetCo having the flag chew toys has some... odd... connotations to it
Petplay? 🦴
@@RustyhairedAlp9575 That trans flag dogbone seems like something a bigot would get their dog.
In my own experience, Starbucks is the weasal when it comes to pride, they pretend they're all-inclusive and blabla, only places where diversity isn't a thing.
in my state, none of the targets had anything from their pride collection
I love your tier videos haha
Living in the suburbs, good thing i have no desire to be a farmer. I have a Tractor Supply near me, so it will be an easy avoid. Besides, I live in a condominium, so I can’t really do anything. Lmao!
Love this. I wish there was a disability pride campaign places would do for July too.
Literally all I want next pride is stuff that has the gay flag on it. No collection that has specific flags ever includes the gay flag, it sucks.
Same with the ace flag. It's only ever on those "Human" shirts where they have a compilation of pride flags. I'm only ever a compilation piece.
i work at target and i wont defend them. they always act like theyre doing the most when theyre really not even doing the bare minimum
I am in a progressive gay area and the Target near me had no pride selection this year we had no issues last year so it sucks they didn’t do it in store this year
Good
They have a phrase as iconic as I Am Kenough and they couldn’t make a basic t shirt with that and a flag? That’s friggin garbo
I would love to see your reaction of Torrid's Pride Collection next year. They often have a different selection than Hottopic
I literally live in a gayborhood in a blue city in a blue state, and our nearest targets didn't stock any pride stuff this year. If it wasn't in stores here, I'm not convinced they sold it in any stores
i literally wanted the pride glasses from target and i ordered them but after my order was pending for a weeks it was canceled because it was out of stock.
i would put spencer's gifts in s tier just based on personal experience. i live in who cares, mississippi and spencer's at my nearby mall is one of the few places i could get pride stuff. after moving out from unsupportive family, i collected a good collection of pride clothing and other stuff cause i could openly wear them. i also love "alternative" attire, so also a plus
on top of that, i talked with one of the employee's about our experiences being queer and how the store is a safe space for us. so yeah, definitely my top pick!
I loved green apple 😢
skittles comes in a couple of different other flavors i think. i see them at the gas station when i buy candy there
You are amazing and inspire me so much- from, a nonbinary fan
Target's pride collection, at least at my store, was just sad this year. And they moved the display to the back when its always been up front by the entrance in years past 🤬
What's wrong with changing the location
@@petervizzini4006 You don't see the issue of hiding it in the back when it was formerly always front and center?
This year I was very disappointed that Micheal’s didn’t sell pride flags anymore :P
12:12 Hot Topic actually has the option to round up and/or donate to LGBTQ organizations! I cant remember specific ones (I think the Trevor Project is one), but the one I go to has the option to donate year around. Live laugh love Hot Topic
I have an indoor and outdoor pair of crocs, and my feet are so happy with me for it. Other shoes feel like torture devices now.
WHY is that Levi’s fringe mask NOT FOR SALE?!?!? 😭😭😭
Hot Topic has their own foundation that does donate to the Trevor Project. Idk if it is for pride month or not ✌🏽
the fact that disney sue the governor of Florida over the don't say gay bill is not on the list of companies is sad
You are a very intelligent woman, Samantha. i wish i could support on patreon love you're channel Samantha. I always amd will always support pride
Im pan, and this years pride merch just sucked i didnt see anything i wanted 😂
Im also very annoyed at Danessa Myricks beauty for their pathetic excuse for a pride campaign, where the only identity specified, was an ally, and they only donated after people threw a fit, and they didnt even donate to an LGBTQ+ organization.
I haven't gotten any of the pride stuff from converse, but it is cute tbh. I was tempted lol.
1:07 LoZ is truly one of the best video game series to ever exist and you cannot change my mind.
I need to get this off my chest! I bought the sally Hansen insta dri pride collection and it was a) more expensive b) way too watery and runny c) IT WAS NOT INSTA DRI it took so long to dryand d) the colours were WAYYY too clear you needed 7000 lares to see it
I have never had a worse pride collection in my life nor seen a worse nail polish -1000000/10 that sh1t was over 50$
Sam, you are just so pretty. Girl, you slay ❤
Well there may be less Pride Merch this year but at least that means the quality of the merch we do have will be better.
I am happy, this "pride month" is just an appetizer. Our Pride celebration isn't until August.
I love being queer in my queer relationship im a bi man and my boyfriend is a a trans gay man hee hee im so gay
I guess this would be the time that you could mean it both ways gay as a orientation and gay as in happy
@@TakeAchance365 yeah either or
No. Everyone caved to the naught zzzs boycott. That is why I won't buy Coach any mote. They gave into the not zzzs.
If you half-ass pride, that's worse than not talking about it at all IMO.
Target is trying to do the bare minimum to keep their LGBTQ+ employees, and it shows.
Good
Slapping a rainbow on smth and calling it a day
Sadly it seems a few more companies along with Target are pulling back from Pride stuff.....Lowes and Tractor Supply being these. Don't let the few angry voices cancel out support.
I haven’t seen you on my feed in so long. Sadly I’ve had bad experiences with trans people, but watching your videos reminds me that I probably just had bad luck when I met those people
Sorry that happened 😢
Goes to show that trans people are just as flawed or just as good as the next human. We're people all the same.
WTF?
I'm so mad monster high doesn't have any pride dolls for the LGBTQ characters, I'd buy a Nonbinary flag Frankie pride doll so fast
One issue is the stuff that is cool sells out too fast most the time.
THEY ARE TRYING TO DO THIS IN FLORIDA VOTE BLUE💙💙💙
Blue had its chance
simping for Samantha
The company i work for doesn't do anything for pride or doesn't hate it Ether
Levi's is actually homophobic bc I got school shoes from them a couple years ago and they broke by that October. My dogs had a window for WEEKS.
Glaad partners with the ADL. They won't call for a ceasefire in Gaza
I love your voice. I just turn on your videos as ASMR
I am done with Target until they come out with a Tom of Finland collection.
As a trans woman too, I can also agree there’s some good merch and sooo much bad 😅
I'm surprised Hot Topic didn't rate higher considering their usual targeted clientelle. Room for improvement I guess :)
I think you’re being a little too hard on Target. They have a responsibility to the safety of their employees.
Especially with the b@mb threats made by pro lgbt individuals
@@petervizzini4006Right wingers were making those threats.
@joshuacoleman8000 It was actually done lgbt sympathetic individuals who were angered that target moved the pride merchandise
