I like that i got recommended this after my mom wouldn’t let me get pride converses because “kids at your school might judge you” even though loads of students at my school are lgbtqia
my mom considered making me a rainbow mask for me to "show my support" (little did she know) but ended up not doing it because she was worried I would "be judged at my school"

Hot take:
While I do not harbor any ill will towards the LGBTQ+ community in particular, I do not consider myself a "straight ally". It implies that straights and LGBTQ+ people are somehow enemies, and that I'm one of the "good ones". A bit like the saying "you're a credit to your race". I suppose I just find the label superfluous, demeaning, and counterproductive. The way I see it, people are just people. I will judge them not by traits, but by actions.
a word of advice, use caution with the lipstick lesbian flag, it has a super exclusionary history where butch lesbians weren't considered valid
Fun fact: the rainbow flag actually represents the whole LGBTQ+ community as a whole, the actual gay flag looks like the lesbian flag but in shades of blue.

@@cpukabuto2132 It's important for everyone who wants to stand up for equality to do so so that we have as many voices as possible standing against discrimination and reassuring people who are oppressed. Straight people who openly support the lgbtq+ community shouldn't be treated like they're virtue signalling. We should be grateful for them when there are so many people out there who discriminate against others.

@@nobodyspecial.2379 lucky. My sister got caught not wearing makeup and jewelry and since she wasn't being feminine enough my parents publicly shamed her and almost made her pack her stuff and leave. They basically disowned her. And if I do the slightest feminine thing like sing or try to do the splits I get deeply criticized by my siblings and parents😪
When I came out as bi to my mom she said she had a feeling and then a couple weeks later she went out and got me a pride shirt!

im so happy you have explained asexuality properly, for the longest time people have rejected me for my sexuality and sayinf "asexuality isnt valid and its the worst.
Why in the world would any sexuality not be valid? For a starters, anyone who doesn’t think another sexuality isn’t valid besides their own - more than likely they aren’t too comfortable in their own sexuality and they’re jealous that you are. I wish you had learned about intersex before you gave a definition of it. You seem to misunderstand it quite a bit. The way someone talks can't make them intersex. An intersex condition (there are several different) can make you intersex. Like an androgen insensitivity or an irregularity of the genitalia and/or sex chromosomes etc. It seemed like you were more interpreting it as gender nonbinary with the possibility of an anatomical irregularity. Thank you for including the community and flag, but this video seems to lean educational and what you said seems misleading. I have no doubt your intentions were pure. This could just cause some confusion among those who adopt your definition as fact and don't have that reflected in reality. I hope you don't take this as criticism. Education about LGBT+ matters is important and your video appears to be a good resource, overall. (I'm not offended or anything either. I'm not even inter myself, as far as I know.) This is my first visit to your channel. I'll make sure to check what other content you have created on here. Best of wishes and happy pride from a trans guy.

Michael Mell even if that's what he meant, it's still and incorrect definition. Intersex people literally have physical characteristics that cause them to not have a fully male or fully female body. These characteristics can include high levels of testosterone in a woman/estrogen in a man and mismatched reproductive organs, like having a vagina but some male reproductive organs inside their body. There are probably many other variations of intersex people, but it has nothing to do with how you present yourself and does not guarantee what gender you identify as

The kink at pride discourse has been furious lately and it’s so nice to see the middle ground you present here. They get displayed and mentioned because they certainly do have a place at pride as a general movement, but not described thoroughly so as to be more accessible.

well, I'm bi and I'm not out yet, but I act like a completly straight girl: long hair, no cuffed jeans, no converse shoes, no leather/jeans jackets, never wore shorts, no signs of bisexuality in my room...
I don't think that it's necessary for bi persons to do this or have that (I'm bi too, and it doesn't disturb me or smth). You don't identify yourself bi considering you cuff your jeans, but that you're able to fall in love with men and women... And this stuff like shoes oder jackets is nice... But when you feel yourself better without or don't think to do/have this, it's also OK and nobody can say that you're not bi. (I'm sry for my English, I'm German)

Honestly, I'm confused about my sexuality. I know for a fact I am NOT straight but I don't show any sexual feelings which makes me think I'm Asexual. I am also scared to come out due to my half homophobic brother and my transphobic mother.
Hey look, I understand. I'm an asexual too. And it took so long to realize it. I went from, "oh I like people and relationships" to "I don't like sexual relationships". It's hard, especially cause on tv there's lesbian, gay, and trans people all over, and fans won't let there be one ace person. So it's hard to already relate to something or someone. But I promise, your sexual life(or lack thereof) isn't their problem. If they don't accept you, whatever man, you don't have to do anything that you're not interested in! And I full accept and support your journey!

I am a straight ally but I would never consider for a moment that we need a flag, nor have I ever felt excluded for not having a specific flag aimed at me. I always just flew the more common rainbow flag for gay men. Didn't even know there were all of these different flags. I honestly thought the rainbow just represented all people of all stripes and colours. Not to say that this doesn't make sense, but I just didn't know all of this. Very informative, thank you... Also, do I actually have to use the straight ally flag? I don't want to have to seek that out, I am lazy. Is it cool if I continue to fly the same flag? I don't care if people make the assumption that I am homosexual, so that's my plan but I guess I should ask what is preferred by the people that I am supposed to be an ally of.

You wouldn’t know it unless you were going thru it. There’s tons of different forces and biases that pressure you to stick to one identity. I literally grew up as a girl, told I was one my whole life and didn’t until a long time later realize trans people existed and I was one. I live in a conservative area with conservative people. They don’t like trans people. They’re barely accepting of gay people, they’ll kick you out and disown you for associating with the devil or smthn. I doubt they even think bisexuals exist. Then I only saw binary trans people online and felt I needed to be that as most ppl (at the time) didn’t understand or tolerate non-binary people. (They still mostly don't outside of western millennials and Gen z'ers. It’s why I’m still closeted as binary. Too much effort for people who barely accept me.) I’m constantly pressured to stay binary and gay. People only see bisexual as it’s stereotype, besides it’s historical definitions and roots. People who are attracted to two or more genders and those who can love people no matter their gender. Bisexual community became a refuge for trans people. Our communities are very much intertwined. I’m non-binary and bisexual. Sh!ts confusing when most people want you to be straight/cis and other lgbt people want you to be under their label. Lesbian, gay, etc and all the infighting towards the B..T.. and the consequences that come with all this. It’s not easy. I’m happy it’s easy for others, not always the case for everyone.

The only thing I'd add, that relationship with an ace does not mean no physical intimacy or no sex. It's a matter of personal preferences and varies from ace to ace. Some aces enjoy sex and physical aspects of the relationship, others don't. Simply, some aces enjoy partnered sex and physical intimacy, even though they do not experience sexual attraction towards their partner. Think of being a gay guy having consensual sex with a woman and enjoying the sensations or intimacy despite not experiencing sexual attraction towards the woman. That's how it's for aces regardless the person. Just like some gays can enjoy sex with a woman "without the chemistry", some aces too can enjoy partnered sex with someone. Wish this brought some clarity 😊
