OMG They always get me with the "definition of phobia" then exclude the part of the definition "or a strong aversion to something" it's not JUST about fear. Literally 5 seconds of googling.
But also lets not overlook that no matter how tough and macho they present themselves as, the root of their aversion and hatred is indeed an existential child-like fear of things they don't understand.
@The Shylock Shyster™ If you want to talk about who writes dictionaries and who decides the definition of words, that's a valid discussion. When speaking about loaned words, the definitions getting muddled is also not an uncommon occurrence and it's fair to criticise it. You can absolutely have a conversation about whether -phobic used in the definition of "strong aversion to something" is actually productive or helpful. There's probably another word that could have been used for this purpose. However, that doesn't change the fact that -phobic IS used to not only mean "a strong and irrational fear" but ALSO "strong aversion to something." Language evolves all the time, whether this is unconsciously or conscious, by all kinds of groups of people. The question of who decides how language works and who dictates it IS an important question to discuss, especially considering that "the elite" most often pushes back against the changes language goes through naturally outside the elite. This power difference between who decides what's proper language and how language is actually used is an issue. I agree. That doesn't change what "transphobic," "homophobic," "Islamophobic" etc. etc. means. They're not completely separate conversations, but it's more complex than that.

It’s overcompensation. He knows he’s not a real children’s book author and that “Johnny the Walrus” is actually for transphobic adults, and him repeatedly going on about how he’s a “bestselling children’s author” is trying to make up for that. To the trans species argument I always say: “Is it biologically possible for a person receive genetic information from the other gender? Yes! Most likely one of your genetic contributors (your parents) was a different gender from your assignment! And since it is biologically possible to receive genetic’s from different genders, it’s very likely they passed down genetic material of a different gender identity to you that made your brain form as that gender. (Chromosomes swap DNA more than you might think.) Now, is it possible that one of your genetic contributors was a different species? No. Different species cannot reproduce with each other. So it’s not genetically possible to have inherited genetic material from a different species that caused you to develop a brain from that species.” “And that’s why it’s a terrible argument. Glad we had this chat.”
I would just swap gender here by sex, because gender is social and not passed down, but sex is biological and has to do with genes, which does pass down

However, there are also some things which children do not need to be told: They don't need to be told what hobbies and interests they need to pursue, which colours they must embrace and what they call their gender and sexuality. The reason for that is because these are individual aspects of humans which cannot be forcibly altered by somebody else, are aspects of what makes a person an individual, and do not negatively impact their environment. My favorite part about his book is that he specifically chose a walrus as his main character’s “transition goals” if you can call it that. Like not only is it comparing women and non-binary people to walruses, which is insulting enough, but he trusts his argument so little that he feels he needs to make this child transition into something as undesirable as a walrus. Cuz he knew if he picked something cooler or more reasonable like a dog or an ape, his child audience would relate too much to the main character and not get the message of “trans people crazy and pretending”
When you said "Don't you want your children to be happy?" it really struck a chord with me. Now I'm a gay dude so I'm not going to say I know what it's like to be trans, but when I came out to my mom she said "All I want for you is to be happy." She also told me about her great uncle who everybody in the family knew was in the closet. She said it was this unspoken thing that her great uncle who was at the time called a "confirmed bachelor", never even had a girlfriend let alone wife and ended up dying alone. My mom told me how much it pains her now to think of him never getting to live the way he wanted to live and how she saw how miserable it made him to live his whole life in the closet (and for context this was the era where you could get arrested and or sent to a mental hospital for being gay) and she didn't want me to live like that.
this doesnt apply to kids. when did u come out? and theres a big difference between coming out and doing a sex change. even if ur getting a sex change, theres also a difference between an adult making that decision vs parents encouraging it upon children.

I mean, shit, I liked sniffing fumes from gas when I was a kid and I was happy about it, now, was it safe to do? Nope, did I like it as a child? Hell yes. Now, I'm not comparing dangerous acts to being trans or being a part of the lgbt community but I am simply showing the possible dangers of encouraging a child's preferences that might be dangerous to them or that they might not fully understand, a boy might say that he wants to be a girl and his parents will raise him to be one but what if he only wanted to play dolls or wear make-up etc. but not transition as a female. He does not have the ability to fully comprehend the consequences of his actions yet, I have a couple friends of mine that were raised as homosexual by their parents but when they turned out to actually like girls, their parents were disappointed and even sad. It's like letting a boy marry a girl he likes in kindergarten, do we do it? Absolutely not, they do not know the consequences yet and cannot comprehend the situation in It's entirety. I would wait for the time when they are fully capable enough to fully understand the meaning of sexuality, male & female biology and romantic preferences to let them choose on their own when they are fully capable enough. Teach them the right and wrongs of sexuality, like, having sexual or romantic relations with minors as an adult, or having sexual relations with animals, hell, even rape is taught to be bad. I wouldn't just encourage everything a child likes because I want them to be happy, that's dangerous, I would like them to be independent on their own and choose what they like at the right time, whether they choose morally wrong or right things in the end is entirely of their own free will. Thing is, matts still right. “Samantha” is deluded in thinking the terms “man” and “woman” aren’t biological. They are wholly biological concepts. Sam argued Gender is a social concept tho, which is true. Except gender can be used to refer to ones sex or social identity. (Wo)man = adult (fe)male human. You can’t “identify” with a wholly biological concept that has nothing to do with you. Like a walrus, it’s nonsense. You can however identify as masculine or feminine, which is what the social aspect of gender is. How “Samantha” has amassed such a following with this lack of knowledge is beyond me.
@@MutantdogfangsMatt is 100% right. It's the blind leading the blind with these people. They like to have someone that validates ignorance and untruths. A woman is an adult FEMALE human being, NOT an adult male that feels like a woman.
I’m pretty sure Matt Walsh doesn’t isn’t transphobic(having an irrational fear of transgender people). Saying people can become a member of the opposite sex is insane.
14:24 Also, as you alluded to just before this timestamp, sex is not nearly as clearly defined in binary terms as matt would have us believe. There's androgen insensitivity which can result in people with XY sexual chromosomes perhaps being born physically male in every way but growing up without ever going through puberty or perhaps being born physically female. Also, as I understand it (but I'm less informed on this topic), someone could be born male with XX sexual chromosomes. Also, androgen insensitivity is a spectrum. Sometimes it results in a female with XY chromosomes who is physically and medically indistinguishable from any other female, sometimes it results in a female with XY chromosomes who has testicles where her ovaries would otherwise be, sometimes it results in a male who doesn't go through puberty and, following the logic of this spectrum, I suspect it often results in a male with just enough response to testosterone to go through puberty which probably wouldn't be noticed or reported. Of course there's also people with XXY chromosomes... and supermales (XYY) and there's other parts of the genome other than the so called "sexual chromosomes" which also influence gender. It's a hell of a lot more complicated than XY = sexual male and XX = sexual female and I have yet to encounter anyone who cites sex as a basis for denying trans identity who actually understands sex (probably in any sense of the word 🤣) and I live in the texas of Canada (alberta), like 98% of all the people I see on any given day are against the existence of trans people and, if you talk to them about their perspective, they all cite their inadequate understanding of sex as their argument but that's clearly just clutching at straws. The real reason is always that society has influenced them to have an antitrans perspective and, rather than trying to get over it, they double down and try to prove their skewed perception, ignoring all the evidence that's against them and not bothering to understand the evidence they cite which wouldn't help them believe their perceptions if they actually understood it.

19:20 I don’t think many people know what transitioning for minors really is. when my friend was 13, she thought she was trans. she cut her hair short, changed her name, clothes, and pronouns. a year later, she detransitioned. all she had to do was change clothes, pronouns, and grow her hair out (she ended up keeping her name bc it was gender neutral). nothing life changing happened. if she was not allowed to “transition,” she would’ve been unsure about her gender, which would have been terrible for her.
that's not the problem. Unfortunately, there is an absurd amount of kids getting hormones, puberty blockers and surgeries because they think they might be trans. For older kids its like you say, they might know what they want but they lack the maturity and wisdom to think through their decisions properly so its up to the parents to protect them even from their own decisions till they reach that point.
Lol in another response video, he actually kind of admits that he’s full of shit on that claim but then pivots and says “well they’re being put on puberty blockers which is chemical castration (wtf) so it’s basically the same thing” Is it really that hard for him to just come out and say he hates LGBT people as opposed to trying to justify his irrational hate with all this hysteria that doesn’t exist
Lolll we would all love to see that but what would it change? The trans community is so open minded that they will accept anything for truth but the actual truth.
Sam won't do that because Sam would become an emotional mess and cry as Matt hits her with facts. Matt made the most crucial fact by saying the content of transitioning into a walrus is above a child's head. Therefore, so is the concept of changing to the opposite sex. That was the entire purpose of the point and it went over everyone's head. And puberty blockers are not 100% reversible. That's a LIE!
22:21 WTF! So even if this fascist's kid might want to try something else other than chicken tenders he cant have anything but chicken tenders because daddy knows best. He is the absolute worst kind of parent and I feel sorry for his kids. Very sorry.
Sigh think about how hard you went on this opinion and how you Jude him as the worst kind of parent and you don’t even understand his point lol. He never said his kid never tried salmon he said he already knows he won’t eat it. When you have kids you will completely understand what he is talking about. For example I have a 3 years old that will not eat hamburgers but he likes to play with them and calls them Kraby Pattie’s. If I’m at a restaurant and he said he wants hamburgers I already know that he will not eat them so why waste time, food and money. And that’s his larger point it, is almost 100% guaranteed that if a three year old boy says they want to be a girl it not because they actually want to be a girl in every sense but probably just want to play with something that is he associated with a girl and that’s how they know how to express they want to play with that or play make believe etc. and you as the parent should know your kid and not place your own delusional ideology on your children.
Hi kid here, if I ordered an American stake if I wasn’t a Muslim then I wouldn’t eat it and still want to eat some generic American food. Matt has a point.

My 3 yr old son sometimes puts on my high heels and has eaten my lips stick when he was 2. I never once thought that he wanted to be a girl. I just saw that he was exploring and being a baby. I would never think anything other than that. I'm also not an American where these issues prevail.
America is Babylon… Simple as that… I hate it here-We are ruining our children- We are either killing them or making them into things they aren’t and scrambling their Brains- No morals, no care for one another- Accept EVERYTHING except the TRUTH- if you don’t live here- You’re lucky…
I know I have to remind my own mother that just because my nephew (who was maybe 5 at the time) wanted to watch a Hello Kitty CD we had, doesn’t mean he his gay. It’s a cartoon. He probably never seen a CD before. Probably didn’t know what it was. She scolded him and said “that’s for girls” and I went behind her back and said he could watch whatever he wanted.

This is so sad, I really feel for his kids. Not being allowed the Salmon isn't a HUGE deal, but you know it will just be indicative of their whole lives under that tyrant. No experimenting or self-discovery, ever.
And it's worse once you notice that it's not just about them finding out if they're trans or not because, like, self discovery is one of the MAIN THINGS about being human. Looking at Matt's behavior, it feels like he really wants to control everything about them. Their dream jobs, partners, hobbies, their identities, probably even more things.

This is an odd comment ism is a suffix. It doesn't make s new words It refers to a distinctive practice, system, or philosophy, typically a political ideology or an artistic movement associated with that word. Transgenderism is a word with a suffix attached to it. I don't understand where the confusion is.
@@Tulin730 if you look up something like racism it has a definition. You can't add any suffix to any root word and have it make sense. It isn't confusion. I am simply stating that it is not a word in the dictionary. And adding the suffix -ism to the root word transgender wouldn't actually make a sensible word. Because being transgender is not a practice, system, philosophy, political ideology or artistic movement. Just like "cisism" wouldn't make any sense. Even if you wanted to make the case that most trans people are left leaning it still wouldn't make sense cause there are trans people all over the political spectrum. It would be the equivalent of saying "southernism" because most southern people are right leaning but southerners are also all over the political spectrum so that also wouldn't be fair. It doesn't make sense for so many reasons.
@@Ashcashfain transgenderism refers to the political movement of the transgender community. It doesn't mean every transgender person believes the same thing, but there is a general movement. ism has to refer to something specific. I think you run into a problem with Southernism because southern doesn't just mean southern US, but could mean southern Canada or southern countries, but in reference to America I would say southernism would refer to the sense of hospitality and food as that is the stereotype that I feel the suffix refers to. It doesn't work with cis because again too broad there. Cis is the majority. There has to be stereotypes attached. In fairness, I'm far from an expert on this kind of thing. I just feel we can create word using words that have known definitions. Transgender as a word has only really been around for fifty - sixty years and is formed by adding a prefix to the word gender. You are just witnessing the birth of a word. History in the making, but technically I do believe you are correct and I'm just speculating. It is currently not technically a word. Give it five to ten years I'd put money on it becoming one.

I think most people who've studied basic child psychology cringe at this book. As Richie put it: "the book is a parody" Meaning it's hyperbole designed to highlight an absurd idea. It's not based on any sciences. You do NOT read parodies to pre-pubescent children. That confuses them.
There's no objective measure of what a children's author is. If you have written a book for children you are a children's author regardless of how successful you are. With science it's an entirely different matter.
One of the dumbest arguments I have heard to date! You would think words in the English language can not have multiple meanings. Good for a laugh though I guess. What a melt. The sad thing is some kids may listen to this tool seriously.

I like ur channel and think ur smart and reflective but I also know that I believed I was ftm trans at 14 and a lot of it came from RUclips deep dives and online forums. I think the course of treatment for kids should vary, because I dropped out of high school for a year and a half at an illegal age when I knew I couldn’t be trans at a jewish school and my parents refused to send me to public school. That was THE darkest, most suicidal, and loneliest time in my life, and it was the only times I ever cut myself. The fact that transitioning saved ur life is a great story to tell, but watchful waiting and switching psychiatrists at 15 saved my life, and that story is valid too.
Can you mention the second where she said that your story isn't valid? Also don't you think that the reason why that period of your life was so sad was actually that your parents were transphobic, and forced their religious beliefs onto you, making you feel wrong and not accepted? Cause from your comment it seems like you're giving all the blame to those online forums and youtube videos for making you think you were transgender, which i highly doubt was the reason you felt so bad. Lastly, waiting a lot beforr transitioning is the usual, i know that those ben shapiro inspired idiots all promote this idea of the transgender community as full of predators who wants to take your children and swap their genders and stupid things like that, but that is all bs, in fact it's really common for hormone therapy to start only after 18 yo and even after, it's gonna take a lot of time before you start with actual surgery.

Let me set the scene of the reality of this situation if it played out (Am not a parent btw, just been around a lotta kids): Because it's dinner _out,_ food is expensive, and he's like probably 5. Dad will order it and the kid will be like "I don't like it" and then he'll be mad because he's hungry, everyone else has their food at this point. "Son, it's literally what you ordered." "No" he says, as he imagines in his giant kid imagination a 'salmon' better than the one he has in front of him. And then he asks for chicken nuggets. That is basically how young children work, they ask for shit on whim based on how great it sounds. My little bro once smuggled 100% pure lemon juice out of the grocery store because he wanted to drink it... children are hilariously inept at knowing what they want at that age, they will literally get mad at you for giving them what they want 😂 Yes, you let them try new foods when the situation warrants, not a whole-ass meal at a restaurant where you ideally DON'T want to deal with one pissed off kid who got salmon because they asked for it and now wants nuggets. @@MissusAnon while I agree to a degree, I feel like a birthday is a special occasion. They could have ordered both. (Pretty sure Matt can afford it). @@kiwisoup Exactly. Anti-trans bigots like Walsh (and right-wingers in general) have a very strong tendency to project. They assume that whatever they would do is what their opposition is doing. OMG They always get me with the "definition of phobia" then exclude the part of the definition "or a strong aversion to something" it's not JUST about fear. Literally 5 seconds of googling.
God I always hate that, they parade around acting so smart, but only know/choose to say half the definition of a word.

(Chromosomes swap DNA more than you might think.)
Now, is it possible that one of your genetic contributors was a different species? No. Different species cannot reproduce with each other. So it’s not genetically possible to have inherited genetic material from a different species that caused you to develop a brain from that species.”
“And that’s why it’s a terrible argument. Glad we had this chat.”

When you said "Don't you want your children to be happy?" it really struck a chord with me.

She also told me about her great uncle who everybody in the family knew was in the closet.

But nobody is talking about peoples biological realities they are talking about their identity. There are people that believe they are animals and believe their identity just a deeply as anyone with a gender identity. So yes that’s the point just like it’s ridiculous to say a male that identifies as a woman is actually a woman because of that identity. It’s also ridiculous to say a human with an animal identity is actually that animal because of their identity.

If kids are too young to understand and comprehend Johnny the walrus then what makes you think they can comprehend transgenderism?
Kids feel what they feel. It's up to medical and mental health professionals to help decipher that. If a kid says they don't feel well we don't expect them to comprehend diseases. We take them to the doctor so the doctor can figure out what's going on. A child can absolutely know that being their assigned gender doesn't feel right. Gender identity typically develops at a young age. You see this in young children who go overboard with wanting to assert their gender. Like little girls really being into things they perceive and girly. If my sister's 4 year old daughter knows that she is a girl and that it feels right; what makes you think some other kid wouldn't feel that their gender doesn't fit with what they were assigned at birth?
An interesting side note. As a kid I actively resisted girly stuff. But I still ended up a trans woman. At age 42 I am 4 years post op.

And letting your kid get or do something he doesn’t want or isn’t safe is good parenting?
I imagine his kids are being brought up properly with a balanced view of the world and not with the fake bs liberal lies you might have them fed?

You are just witnessing the birth of a word. you don't always need to personally experience something in order to say if it's right or wrong. i am not a dad but i can tell that he probably isn't the greatest himself :/
plus he is out here trying to plant the seeds of bigotry in these toddlers...filling their impressionable minds with hate. even if we was otherwise the greatest dad of the year, the propaganda kind of diminishes that
oh and about the doctor comment? i am in nursing school and i know better than to tell a doctor with experience their business.
Kids shouldn't talk about what a "bigot" is but they should understand "transgenderism" and should be taught about genitals' topics. LOOOOOL.
... wtf is wrong with you.
Right, lol
The only person talking about genitals is the right; projecting much?
@@ms.aelanwyr.ilaicos i guarantee mortina aint from the right but delusion is famous amongst the left so i wont argue that point much further
@@ms.aelanwyr.ilaicos well that statement sounds mildly retarded.
@@ajasdeathdrop1556 She said that regret is a low percentage and implied that because it’s low it doesn’t really matter.
I’d say I felt more put upon by the school than by my parents meanwhile my parents didn’t find out until later. I think I was already suffering from depression and it was presented to me as the solution to my feelings of disassociation with my body, discomfort in my own skin, combined with a loathing for my new monthly experience of debilitating cramps. I never grew out of the depression, but I did grow out of my body dysphoria. Much later I was diagnosed as high functioning on the autism spectrum disorder, and females like me are extremely susceptible to fixation; for example, a singular solution to all their problems. We don’t tend to connect on a fundamental level with other girls, but I’m making the point that I would have regretted it. That is all.
@@adenhawk4029 you found very similar to somone I know he’s ftm and only 17 and I’m pretty sure he’s on the spectrum. His father has Asperger’s, and my bf whose his older brother, also had autism. I myself am possibly on the spectrum but I haven’t been assessed. Both what you and OP are describing are very similar feelings and experiences that many young women and girls go through, and it’s ok and valid even if you do turn out to be trans.
@@Lunalla thanks and I am the OP
@@adenhawk4029 thanks for sharing your story. Im certainly not transphobic, but I am weary of the seeming promotion of trans treatment and politics to an already confused generation, in the same way i would be weary if schizophrenics had as much attention on certain platforms. Sounds like you were in a very vulnerable and complex place, tempted toward trans ideas but found a way through it without more complexity. What was the biggest factor that helped you through that time, if you dont mind me asking?
okay but its also so weird to me that he didnt let his son try some new food lmao
Let me set the scene of the reality of this situation if it played out (Am not a parent btw, just been around a lotta kids):
Because it's dinner _out,_ food is expensive, and he's like probably 5.
Best to wait until that kid is a little older to be able to think about it first.
@@MissusAnon while I agree to a degree, I feel like a birthday is a special occasion. They could have ordered both. (Pretty sure Matt can afford it). Otherwise he could have at least like, offered to make some at home for him. Or they could have asked the restaurant if they could make a small side of salmon along with whatever other meal. It's more like the attitude he had against it that rubbed me the wrong way.
Maybe because he KNEW he wouldn’t like it as much???!! He KNOWS his son loves a certain food and if he tries changing it, he might not like it
@@lightningblade24lmao you clearly sound ignorant about children. Parents know their children the best. Yes children should try new things but a father/mother/older siblings would know if a child would like something or not. He probably definitely wouldn’t like it thats why he said no. It’s just normal parent behaviour idk why it’s not unnatural to you
@@A-sui no, I'm not ignorant, I just think that for his birthday, they could have just let him try it. Coulda got both. Or offered to make him some salmon at home to try instead of just shutting him down.
I feel like you need to make your own kids book that very gently explains what being trans is to Matt specifically. Really dumb it down for him
I doubt there are simple enough words for him to understand if he can fail so miserably to comprehend what Samantha is very basically saying.
Oh, discount Ben Shapiro here knows exactly what he's doing. He's cashing a paycheck. What's really needed is some way to explain the truth to his customers. But if they wanted truth and not shallow affirmation of their preexisting worldview, they wouldn't be watching him in the first place.
Look up the book “My Shape is Sam” tbh I’m too tired to explain it but it’s really good!
The thing is people like Samantha wouldn't even make a "pro trans" book. They would just make one that says be true to yourself, love yourself, etc. Something universal that doesn't push agendas, offer blatant opposition to something... Something that's just universally a good message.
@@kiwisoup Exactly. Anti-trans bigots like Walsh (and right-wingers in general) have a very strong tendency to project. They assume that whatever they would do is what their opposition is doing. So naturally they assume that the "pro-trans" side is trying to trans as many people as possible, instead of what they're actually doing, which is just providing exploratory space for those who want it.
This is what happens when you live in an echo chamber. Seriously, look up the definition of the word "phobia" and then really think about why "Transphobe" has the definition it does.
A phobia is an anxiety disorder defined by a persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation. Phobias typically result in a rapid onset of fear and are usually present for more than six months. Wikipedia
Treatment: Exposure therapy, counselling, medication
Symptoms: Fear of an object or situation
Medication: Antidepressants, benzodiazepines, beta-blockers
Causes: Genetic and environmental factors
Duration: More than six months
Usual onset: Rapid
@@hawkz7635 you got it. Now why would a "transphobe" only be defined as "dislike or prejudice"?
He said he’s not transphobic. Which is his transphobic lol, he believes no one should be tran regardless of age.
@@robertlow6321 Technically he isn't transphobic, as the laten root phobia = fear. English just sucks as a language. The definition she pulled up was one to push an agenda. But transphobic and homophobic mean fear of Trans and homosexuality. And that's what he was getting at.
@@hawkz7635 You can't define a word by defining a part of it and glue it back together. In this occasion you are of course correct about the English translation of the Latin word, but in combination with the word trans, it "evolved". You will find it defined in almost every dictionary that is up to date as a synonym of being anti trans, or having irrational agenda against trans people - therefore not literally "phobic" anymore. This I believe not only startet with using the word transphobia, but already with the word homophobia. It also happens with other words, it's a normal process of language. That's a reality you can't deny.
