I LOVE seeing an actual smart, prepared person beating Shapiro in a place where he usually can get away with his tactics by talking to young and unprepared, non researched kids. She did amazing. Not letting him interrupt her. Calling out his bs in a factual and elegant manner. This fulfills me so deeply.
He usually tries to pick an innocent, weak looking person to present a 'straw man' argument to make his argument look better in comparison, but even with a biased set up that person absolutely crushed his argument
How exactly did he lose?😂 He was staying fact while the trans was stating ideological political agenda. Saying gender doesn't exist .. I wonder how human are born I guess we're asexual beings.
I love how she forced him to repeatedly contradict himself and then eventually give in and say he didn't believe in science. He was really sweating up there
You obviously need to watch the whole video. He speaks facts and doesn't care about feelings.. no one has to care about your feelings..as long as I'm not intentionally harming you I don't have to care about you or your feelings..that's my right. I don't have to agree with you.. I don't even have to like you.. all I need to do is show you the same respect I would show any other human being. You are not special.

And that tactic is getting kind of old. to be honest. Only biological women at birth experience being Infertility and not a trans women. A Biological woman and transwoman will never be the same because they both have different experiences just like a trans woman will never know what it's like to be a biological woman. I myself will never know what it's like to be a trans woman.
@@geeklybunnysan946 My point was that some transphobic people like to use the argument that trans women don't have periods or can't get pregnant to say that trans women aren't women, even though some cis women don't have periods or are infertile, which, if we're gonna use that logic, cis women who don't have periods and are infertile aren't real women.
As a trans man and science nerd I have to say that Ben's arguments about animals not being trans is laughable because it A: ignores that some animals do not fall into what we would traditionally see as binary like male seahorses giving birth, female hyenas having pseudo-penises, and clown fish (and other species but this was the first I thought of) changing their sex if there is a need for more babies and B: ignores that some animals do have a concept of gender... like monkeys. Although I shouldn't be surprised considering how he threw all the other scientific information to the curb Anyway Ben is dumb and this video is great! I love your videos! Update: To everyone asking why I'm using animals to explain something that happens with humans... it's because Ben used a walrus as an example?? Like what does a walrus have to do with being trans either. I also was not trying to state these animals are trans by our definition. I am merely stating the concept of a gender binary does not always exist in nature like Ben and other conservatives say and applying it to humans who are free thinking and intelligent is ridiculous as most intelligent species show signs towards not falling into patterns of being straight or cis. Hell even some less intelligent beings have patterns of being gay like giraffes and...walruses.
Ben only cares about facts and logic when it seems to conform to his world view. The second it challenges his views its THE WOKE LIBERALS TAKING OVEERRRRRR *inhuman shapiro screeches*
@@thereisnosuchthingascis.8443 I never said they did. They have a concept of gender not gender identity. In the specific study, monkeys were shown treating and raising up their male and female children in different ways that don't relate to their biological sex... one example being that male monkey children are raised to display more dominant traits and aggression which doesn't have anything to do with their sex being male.
On top of all of that, I’d say that human beings are fundamentally philosophically different from animals and can therefore have experiences and understand concepts that animals do not. Bears can’t do calculus, does that mean calculus is not real?

@@itzasweater9621 Science this science that. You keep mentioning science but it's like you completely forgot the existence of human sciences. Gender studies wouldn't be it's own scientific field but it does fall under others. Being trans and experiencing gender dysphasia can be categorized as psychology. Just because you're a little too dense to understand that people can study things that aren't seen, such as human behavior and the way people think, doesn't mean that it's something that people don't study. Calling someone who was born a man and still identifies as one a woman certainly won't change biology, but it change the way they interact with me.

@@michaelespeland You must be really useless in your part of society, that you must follow someone without any evidence and just a loud voice and nothing more
I'll never get this obsession with "biological sex". In human society biological sex means jack. The vast, overwhelming majority of human social interactions do not involve genitals and none of them involve chromosomes. In day to day life those things do not matter. At. All. In human social interactions the social aspects of gender/sex are all that actually matter which is to say that in human social interactions only gender actually matters. Your sex only comes into play with your doctor and maybe your sexual partners. Otherwise it's only an issue because some sad people have decided to make it one.
"Biological sex" has NEVER been that cut-and-dry. Out of all the genes on the Y chromosome, only one matters regarding sex: The SRY gene. Sometimes that SRY gene pops off of a Y chromosome and onto an X. So now you have an X chromosome with an SRY gene and a Y without one. What does this mean? An X with an SRY gene means you're physically male, chromosomally female (XX), and genetically male (SRY present). A Y without an SRY gene means you're physically female, chromosomally male (XY), and genetically female (SRY absent). Sex genes ultimately turn on hormones in specific areas of the body and hormone receptors in cells throughout the body. So what does this mean? It means that you may be chromosomally male or female, genetically male or female, hormonally male/female/nonbinary, with cells that may or may not hear the male/female/nonbinary call, and all this leading to a body that may be male/female/nonbinary. "Biological sex" is complicated. Before some bigot goes and discriminates against someone based on "biological sex" or gender identity, they should ask themselves if they've ever seen their own chromosomes. Do they know other people's chromosomes? Do they know other people's genes? Their hormones? The state of their cells? Sure, you could appeal to numbers. But a biology professor will tell you all the same stuff I just wrote. They'll also tell you that they don't have their students look at their own chromosomes in class. WHY? Because people could learn that their physical sex and chromosomal sex don't match. And learning that in the middle of a ten-point assignment IS JUST NOT THE TIME. But it would make a cool experiment. I'd love to see guys freaking out over discovering that they have XX, XXY, XYY, etc. Ditto girls screaming over learning that they have XO, XY, XXX, etc.
Thank you! I an actually waiting for someone to ask Shapiro if he demands to look at a person's genital, or even better their karyotype, before accepting to use any pronouns to describe them with. He has at the very least admit that on an immediate level we categorise people based on phenotype and not chromosomes, and that the phenotype is largely based on features that have lots of variation in a population. That said, to admit it he would have to be intellectually honest... that is why he continuously shifts the conversation from the transgender experience and the concept of gender to "trans activists and their allies want to cancel the concept of sexual dichotomy in the biological sense"
Why aren't you 60 years old? What is stopping you from being 60, or 5, or 10....? Can a person identify as being an age that they physically aren't? What about a race they physically aren't? Should everyone be bullied into agreeing that a biologically 40 year old white man is actually a 5 year old Chinese girl? Biology exists for a reason, and people lose their jobs for pointing biology out and not going along with delusion in this insane upside down world we are in right now. Maybe that is why there are some supposed "scientists" that say gender isn't connected to sex.... They don't want to be taken down by the mob.
(I believe what i'm about to write doesn't invalidate anybody, in fact it may actually give a good counter argument to transphobics who focus on the biology. I am a biologist by the way) Going from the idea that gender is connected in some shape or form to biology, not sex necessarily. Our genetics and epigenetics dictate our biological responses to estimuli, and what hormones we have flowing around our bodies. That being the case, the way we think and feel, are different in every person. So it is completely plausible that the way a person feels, due to their hormones and their responses, might be different than the "usual" (for a lack of a better word) type of thinking that all biological males will respond to stimuli in a similar way, or biological females will respond in another way, but similar to all of them. I mean, nobody is the exact same, people will respond differently, even in their development inside a womb. Also, social interactions are biological stimuli, any kind of interaction is. And all of this, (genetics, epigenetics, social interactions, literature, politics, life in general) will have some effect on your biological responses. It will affect who you are, and especially what you feel like. So, I personally think, that biology actually might support trans people more than we might, at first glance, believe. (Sorry if there are any grammatical errors, i hate my phone)
i feel like it’s way more plausible that ben is letting his political bias get in the way of his view of transgenderism in science than literal educated doctors “letting their politics get in the way of science” also! if i’m not mistaken there have been cases of pregnant males because sexual variants exist and there are males (xy chromosomes) who are born with uteruses
"males (xy chromosomes)" - using chromosomes to define sex is problematic. Defining sex isn't always that easy because every criterion one could use seems to fail in some cases. If you're pregnant, that's a good argument that you're female (or at least not fully male). If you're looking for more info, this is the most detailed scientific video I've seen on that: ruclips.net/video/szf4hzQ5ztg/видео.html
@@blueredingreen I think the OP is referencing how transphobes often try to say that sex is black and white as determined by chromosomes, and they were bringing up an example of how that is not the case.

He just babbled on about nonsense that didn't even relate to what I said. Then when I heard him watching that video, I about lost it laughing and he just looked at me and said, "shut up, just because it's his feelings doesn't mean it's not the truth!" The major point though is: even if we agree with him that *historically* the terms man/woman- male/female have been used interchangeably to describe a person phenotype, why should that stop us from starting to use them in a different, more inclusive way? Language is not immutable and doesn't dictate reality but continuosly evolves in order to better describe our world and its phenomena. If being transgender and the experience of gender as something different from sex is a human experience for millions (and one that has occured for millennia) why are we so resistant to find new words and/or adapt old words to describe it? This is like arguing that you can't use the word net wen talking about the internet, because its intended purpose is to describe what spiders weave and fishermen use
Agreed. I think it's getting better, but there is still more to go. When I was growing up, the terms "transvestite, transsexual, and drag-queen" were widely used. Hated all of them because of the mixed implications and assumptions. "Transgender" feels comfortable to use since it seems to imply only one thing. It doesn't say anything about physical changes or whom you are attracted to.
I just hate it when they pretend anyone is forcing children into being trans. My cousin is a trans man. He most definitly wasn't forced into it by anyone. "Born male" is not the same as "being male". A physical transition, especially one with SRS, is a change of sexual characteristics, which mostly means a change from dyadic maleness or femaleness so wide to the opposite side that it can be seen as a sex change. A tw with HRT and SRS is physically much more similar to a CAIS or Swyer afab than to a dyadic amab.

@@clipsrus606 why do yo assume that being born something means always and nessecary being that for whole life, and all changes are invalid? Can't we say a tw was born male and is now female? What shall be the great problem with that? For what you say exists a meme somewhere, the butterfly says to the snail: "I'm a butterfly". The snail says: "No, you're a caterpillar, because you're born as one."
But it still is just a change in traits, not a change in sex. Sex is defined on the biological reproductive role: either egg cells or sperm cells. You can change your aspect, your presentation, outward appearance, what have you, but not your sex. There is no technology that will make a person born with egg cells be able to produce sperm cells instead. Or to implant egg cells in a sperm cell producing person and have them ovulate. The caterpillar has a natural mechanism to become a butterfly. He is ACTUALLY a caterpillar before molting and ACTUALLY a butterfly after, because it fits the definition. The male cannot become female because there is no mechanism to change the very things that define it (which is the type of gametes you naturally produce)

She was nitpicking around the word female and using it as an ace against Ben's gender neutral stance based on humans being able to diverge into more genders than animals altho its a product not born of science. The binary language example is the closest thing as an argument here but using the stance the trans take of there being possibilities of combinations. And a correlation necessarily not needing to lead to a causation. The factor that throws the binary argument is the mindset and school of thot that pro actively tries to disrupt what is already naturally arranged. It's like saying, orange was a primary colour just because I can mix red with yellow to get it. The established identities already pre existing as something soundly established is Ben's real argument. I admit he could've done better during this interview also agree with Sam's takes of him usually targeting college grads who won't know better. As a marine bio student there's actually so many marine species that change sex throughout their lifetime. Humans are not an exception to being trans in nature, it may not look the same in terms of physical transition but the concept is essentially the same
@@Mutantdogfangs wasn’t claiming to be a human bio student. Just pointing out that transitioning from one sex to another is not just a human thing. And the reason I’m not a human bio student is because I didn’t want to be so you just be quiet bro
@@Mutantdogfangs I may not be a marine bio official student, or human bio official student, but I learn information from the internet, and I make sure to go to reliable resources, like Universities and their articles from multiple different universities, that provide information on the biology of an organism. I've learned that clownfish, when the famale leader/alpha dies, the largest male changes it's sex biologically to fit into a female role. This has happened in human biology, rarely. As in, as rare as intersex. In fact, I will put this link here so you can actually read upon the different variations of intersex, and I've heard somewhere that someone's body was born one "sex" but naturally, when they hit puberty, their sex began going through puberty that would typically be considered of the opposite sex, so if a boy goes through puberty, his body will turn him into what looks like a girl. So, yes, changing sex is natural in the sense of intersex. But, our brains are also organic and can be affected by hormones, chromosomes, and other biological factors, and by sociological factors, too. There were brain scans of trans women and when compared to cis women, the brains are almost if not exactly the same, so if the trans woman's brain had been compared to a cis man's brain, they would be different, before and after hormone replacement therapy. So, therefore, the changing of sex is natural in us humans. A lot of the things we humans do is not natural, like driving cars. So, when someone changes their sex by surgeries and/or hormones, or simply socially transitions, yeah it may not be natural to change sex by surgery, but then what about the person's whose body had grown up one sex and started developing as the other at puberty? So, it's already proven that sex does change, whether it be natural or unnatural, even though it's on the rare minority, it exists. I don't need to have surgery to behave like a different sex than mine. Here is that link to the intersex website where you will find somewhere(I did not take care to look because I quickly looked it up and found it and I seen a whole list of the variations of intersex where you will probably find what I am talking about. The human body is very complex, and can't be put neatly into a box of "man" or "woman", "male" or "female". I guarantee you that nobody checks people's cells, chromosomes, hormone levels, etc. whenever someone goes into the bathroom. They base it off of phenotype. The looks of someone. It's why when a feminine trans woman and a butch cis woman walk into a bathroom, the one that's likely to get yelled at is the butch cis woman because they expect a woman/female to look a certain way. Heck, even a cis woman that could be clocked as trans could get yelled at because she looks like a "man pretending to be a woman". Get out of here with your so called "knowledge" on biology.

What I don't get about Shapiro types is that they want to convince people of their worldview without actually providing evidence/data. I mean Ben is allowed to feel however he wants but it's like he's under the belief that his feelings are a good enough substitute for the actual research done on trans people.
The evidence/data that they do use is laughed at by the medical community, just because most of the time it was the kind of research that had the conclusion (transphobic one usually) and only needed some heavily targeted research in order to fit that conclusion. He might realize that just enough that if he was to cite said research and people would know it's fake or at least heavily criticized by the medical community, he could be called out even easier than now. And since that last possibility is probably also something that might happen easier if he was to speak at different locations other than colleges, is probably why he limits himself to this age group: this age group of people is much easier to be taught how to hate.

17:50 In lions there is actually an observed trend of gender roles, and they are interchangeable between the sexes. It is common, even, in a pride with no male lion, for the oldest and strongest female to grow a mane and take on the roles typically associated with males; ie protecting the young and fighting off rival males who would otherwise kill their offspring. Now, the females mane doesn't generally grow as thick or full as a males, because hormones, but that's kind of irrelevant to the question of sex vs gender in other mammals. In Bonobos Chimpanzees, it is a noted trait that male and female Bonobos have interchanging social roles, ie a gender expression separated from their sex. Those are the only two examples I am educated enough to think of off the top of my head, but yes, in the animal kingdom, other mammals often display sex and gender as individual categories, and gender is an interchangeable concept, just like with humans.
When he was having a conversation with Jordan Peterson, even though they have similar views, you could see the nervousness. The way he sat. The way he responded. He knew if a debate or to brew, Jordan Peterson would’ve chewed him up and spit him out.

@Ignacio Gerardo Albo Caballero Correct. Gender activists pretend to be completely innocent and don't want to intrude on anybody. Nothing could be further from the truth.
It's more about how this is just a mask for the real goal. Get everyone all trans friendly....and then get them to agree that kids are capable of considering themselves as being trans while empowering them to be able to legally consent to life altering decisions. Once children have the ability to give legal consent...well....what else can they then "legally" consent to? That is the game, and it's being run by the peds. Keep playing dress up and smacking each other's sticks while prancing about, ignoring whats really going on in that "community"... Maybe throw in a "yas queen" or two. That's far more important, right? Also, 44%.....yeah. I will never understand how or why people are upset when others want to live in reality, and not play in the imagination land of another person.
When people ask me "what decides whether someone is a woman" my answer is that if they call themselves a woman they are a woman. If you say you identify as female, male, etc I just trust you to know yourself and respect it. It's really simple.
True story, about an hour before I clicked on this video I saw a post where Elliot Page was showing off his abs. One of the comments was that "She will never be a real man because real men have dicks." The most obvious response, and thus what I responded to the transphobe, was "I guarantee that you've never seen Elliot's genitals, so for all you know Elliot could have always had a dick even when he was a rising/famous actress."

@Shaxi It is because they cannot answer the question, “What is a woman?” without ignoring the meaning of the actual word “woman” according to the CURRENT definition (aka- an adult FEMALE person). The true meaning of gender is how WOMEN (adult female humans) typically act which is a social construct that changes depending on the general culture of WOMEN at the time). I love having an agendered bio teacher with a biomedical degree because we've been learning all about sex-based occurrences that deviate from the regular male and female dichotomy and the nuances of those occurrences. My school is in a mostly suburban district where a decent chunk of the students are conservative, so that makes everything they teach even more valuable. This teacher also uses very different methods (because they hate the American education system) to teach and gives us easy mnemonics and things to associate the material with. They're able to teach college level material to students that struggle academically, and they give us stretch breaks and time to chat with our friends.
@@menow. My science teacher classifies themself as gender non-conforming and separates themself from their sex and doesn't classify themselves with any identity associated with gender-based identity. They still respond to traditional gendered pronouns, but they do not see themself conforming to those pronouns or gendered labels to describe them. So, the answer would fall into a more gray area. Being agendered is considered a part of the gender spectrum in and of itself, as it is an identity, however it also is a lack of gender by definition. I haven't seen many arguments around this, I don't spend much time around LGBTQ discourse, and of course there will be people that will disagree with my points from multiple stances on the topic of gender identity itself. I also identify as agendered, or rather gender apathetic (meaning that I really couldn't care less about my gender). I regard my own identity in a similar way. However, both are forms of identification within their respective categories that are an absence of the quality that the category itself represents. "Nihilism much?" Nah. It just boils down to the fact that I don't identify with any gendered label, so I simply don't claim one. Not all apathy is nihilistic. It's the same situation for my teacher. That's a strawman. Even then, those roles don't manifest because of social stigma, but they are often based on sexual characteristics. Women don't wear dressed because they have a vag. 'Dresses' were originally worn by all people because they were the easiest peice of clothing to make. Then, they were worn primarily by men. Some time later, they have become the staple of womanhood- that's how gender changes! There is no biological difference between people who cook and people who grill, but "cooking is for women" and "grilling is for men" are still gendered concepts. Like I wish working the grill would automatically give me a dick, but life just doesn't work like that, huh? Cooking isn't gonna blow your dick clean off, because gender is not sex.

I think a lot of the confusion on this topic stems from conflating the terms "gender" and "gender identity." The World Health Organization's definition of the terms "sex," "gender," and "gender identity" is my personal favorite because they make this difference clear. Sex is based purely on biology (eg male, female, intersex). "Gender" is a social construct and refers to traits commonly associated with a particular sex within a given society (eg, "masculine" and "feminine" traits). "Gender identity," as WHO points out, is related to but different from "gender," and refers to an individual's "deeply felt, internal and individual experience of gender, which may or may not correspond to the person's physiology or designated sex at birth." Thus, "gender" is a social construct, but "gender identity" is not. "Gender" is not biological, but modern research has shown that "gender identity" is developed at a young age and does have biological ties. The fact that we cannot do a simple test to determine one's gender identity means we must rely on that person's inner sense of their own identity in order to know their gender. The good news is, that identity is developed incredibly early in life and almost never changes (whether that person's identity is supported or not), so it really shouldn't be that hard to just respect what people tell you about their gender. I think if those on the forefront of advocating for the transgender community could work on separating the terms "gender" and "gender identity" when they speak, rather than using the term "gender" to refer to both in various situations, it might go a long way towards helping ease some of this confusion. Unfortunately, "gender" is commonly used to refer not only to its true meaning, but as an abbreviated reference to "gender identity," and that confuses a lot of people, both within and outside of the trans community. If we ever reach a place where society as a whole understands these distinctions, then we can afford to shorten "gender identity" to "gender" in everyday conversation. Until then, a distinction needs to be made.
ruclips.net/video/xfO1veFs6Ho/видео.html&ab_channel=FamilyPolicyInstituteofWashington Maybe he should ask the women if he can shower in the women's locker room alongside them.
It is a fact that currently trans women can not get pregnant, however it seems that will not be true for long. Uterus transplants with the help of ivf have helped over 18 cis woman have healthy babies and last march the volunteer process for medical testing was opened up to trans women as well so soon we may have our very first trans women have periods, get pregnant, and have a child via C-section.
@@asmrplushpaws It is, and I can only hope that along with the transplant that the science of ivg will be approved for human use within the next decade as it also will help couples that traditionally can't have biological kids together (infertility, gay couples, trans people, women with early menopause, intersex people) to be able to have children too.

Did anyone else notice the linguistic sleight-of-hand (or is it sleight-of-tongue?) that Ben kept using? He kept referring to people as “males” and “females”. At one point he went off about “if you want to tell me that a male can get pregnant blah blah blah”. He uses the more biologically oriented terms of “male” and “female”, framing the conversation in terms of sex and biology, even when people are trying to engage in a conversation about the social or psychological aspects of gender. Benny, no one is talking about pregnant males. Did you mean pregnant men? Cause that’s a whole different thing. I really wish someone would call him out about him conflating man/woman with male/female. I’m sure he would have some garbage response, but it would be fun to see him get worked up about being called out on his shenanigans.
Exactly! He consistently tried to divert the conversation from talking about gender and steer in towards sex. He basically was making the point (completely dishonestly) that trans activists and allies deny the existence of biological sex, when it is obviously false
something i’ve noticed with him is that (for me at least) that he talks so fast and says all these terms and big words that he really sounds like he is intelligent, but once you start to process what he is saying he sounds like a jackass and most of his logic can be proven wrong with a simple google search, also,he really sounds like that type of person who has to *win* a conversation or he’ll go insane, because i’ve been living with that type of person for 18 years now,and i know it when i see it
Most people become biased because he has a suit and status. It's very natural in any society, we tend to look up to figures in power and trust that they're in the right. It's actually sad that this audience of college students don't know they're fooled by appearances. They're hardly listening and thinking further. If this student who talked in the mic was dressed in suit too, maybe they'll be looked at differently too. Not saying there's anything wrong in their outfit, just that people always look ways to pick on someone who they deem as "not worth listening to". When you look at the guys on the right, they started laughing when the person misspelled something for a brief second. They're clearly not interested in anything that's spoken, they're just looking for ways to invalidate.

@@ursuletul2001 That's completely different. Vitamin C doesn't make a citrus fruit, a citrus fruit. Citrus fruits just happens to be something that has vitamin C. @@elliotlofton9970 Citric acid is one of the main compounds of citrus fruits , if I drink a bunch of it, that isn't going to turn me into citric fruit. It's not rocket science. I know this isn't about autism, but as an autistic nonbinary person, I'd like to add something here. By looking at me, you wouldn't know if I was autistic or not. What may be normal for you, may not be normal for me. I walked into a busy restaurant just yesterday. You may not see that as super crazy. (This might be a long comment) As I walked in, I had my mask on not because health reasons but because I have a beard and hadn't shaved. I could hear everybody talking and voices fluctuating in intensity. Waiters moving around rapidly because it was busy. Aware people might be looking at me, I don't want them looking at me, I don't want to look at them, if I look at them, they might feel uncomfortable and think I'm weird. I hold my arms to my side tightly trying to implode in myself based on outside perceived pressure. Music going on, sitting at a table that has a leg that happens to be shorter than the others so when pressure is put on it, the table wobbles and my drink that is full might spill. Toddlers are screaming, and the sound pierces my ear drums. I have patience for children, but it's because of my sensitivity to sound that I can't be around them. All these sounds and visuals going on, and I start to hyperventilate. I'm tearing up, and start to cry. I try to read the menu, but my brain is focusing on sounds from all directions and visuals that I can't focus and retain the information I'm reading. Someone has to order for me. The waiter comes up and calls me sir. I know he's being formally respectful, but he's unaware that he misgendered me. It hurts. Now to a non-autistic neurotypical person, to them, I'm crying over nothing. Maybe they should trying turning their speakers up and then try to have a conversation with people while also multitasking. It would be difficult for them, and they may or may not have a panic attack. That's what it is like for me. But, you wouldn't be able to tell I was autistic just by looking at me, and you might not even know based on behavior because I'm "masking" my autistic traits to please neurotypical people so they don't attack me and think I'm weird. You wouldn't be able to tell my brain worked differently just by looking at me, so why should gender identity be treated like it doesn't exist? If I told someone I was autistic, "Oh, but you don't look autistic, I wouldn't be able to tell just by looking at you." Yeah, same thing for gender identity and biological sex and gender expression. Assumptions aren't always great. You might assume, and get it right. You might assume, and get it wrong. You might assume and get it partially right. The point is, don't assume, and combat your assumptions. That's what it's like to have an open mind. You don't know all the answers, and you don't know who someone is just by looking at them. So, trying to tell me I'm not trans or nonbinary is the same as saying I'm not autistic, when I've had a professional diagnoses and scientists back up my brain. Scientists back up trans people as well. The brain isn't separate from the body. It sends signals to tell you what and who you are based on inside and outside stimuli. I know I'm biologically male based on my outward sex characteristics and genitalia, but I don't know my chromosomes or what my exact testosterone and estrogen levels are, but I know males and females both have testosterone and estrogen. Yeah, gender is a social construct, and people end up on that social construct to varying degrees. That social construct was created by humans, it doesn't mean that gender isn't real, it just means that gender is what you make it. And language changes. If language was static, then how do people explain foreign languages and cultures. If third gender or two spirit exists in someone's culture that alone proves that gender is a social construct. When I say I'm nonbinary, I'm not saying that I'm not biologically male. I'm not saying that biological sex doesn't exist, because it does. Everyone knows this, trans and cis alike. Trying to force me into a culture I don't fit into and telling me that my identity isn't real is disrespectful. It's like saying black people are the n word, even though that's technically what they are. But it's rude, and racist. So when someone says that I'm delusional about my identity, they assume that I don't know I'm biologically male. I am, but I'm more than that and it's just blatant transphobia. I understand science more than a transphobic person does. Technically, I'm biologically male, so people should keep calling me sir or man. But, my pronouns are they them and if you want to be formally respectful, call me Mx. I use the word queer, some queer people don't like the word. Yeah, they are queer, but they have feelings. Brains have feelings, so yeah, the fact is they are queer, they don't like that term, so don't use it. You may be comfortable with it, but others may not. While a transphobe might not understand and hates the word cis and says "I don't know what cis is, but it probably shouldn't bring children into this world.", I won't call you cis because those are your feelings and I want to respect your feelings, but you kinda just said people like YOU shouldn't bring children into this world, so I agree with you on that.(except cis ally's, you can bring children into this world, thanks for supporting us). You try to argue the validity of trans people without understanding their terminology, therefore you hurt yourself in your confusion. It's why science is on our side. Cis(same side of) trans(across from). Cis and trans aren't just related to trans people. It's why we use cisgender and transgender, or transformation, or transportation, transparent. I know English and science better than a transphobe. Sorry I got carried way. I base my feelings on facts, I realize my feelings are just that and I need to change them. So, when facts support my feelings, I don't need to change them. I may not understand geometry and algebra and could never force my brain to comprehend it, I understand that algebra exists and I should respect that. I'm not forcing someone to understand nonbinary. Just use they/them and avoid binary gendered language and be creative. I mean, she her and he him are binary, they/them is not. You don't understand my gender/gender identity, so use they/them. You don't have to understand it to respect it. If you can't tell what someones sex or gender is based on their looks, that to me is what it feels like to be nonbinary. It's when you can't put someone into the gendered box term man or woman when they look like both or neither. No man, woman, or nonbinary owes anyone masculinity, femininity, or androgyny to prove who they are.

Although I shouldn't be surprised considering how he threw all the other scientific information to the curb
Anyway Ben is dumb and this video is great!
OMG yes! I even learned about (I think it was snails) when I was a child being able to change their sex if needed.
Ben only cares about facts and logic when it seems to conform to his world view. The second it challenges his views its THE WOKE LIBERALS TAKING OVEERRRRRR *inhuman shapiro screeches*
I didn’t know about the monkey one! I’ll have to do a little research..

I'll never get this obsession with "biological sex". In human society biological sex means jack. The vast, overwhelming majority of human social interactions do not involve genitals and none of them involve chromosomes. In day to day life those things do not matter. At. All.
In human social interactions the social aspects of gender/sex are all that actually matter which is to say that in human social interactions only gender actually matters. Your sex only comes into play with your doctor and maybe your sexual partners. Otherwise it's only an issue because some sad people have decided to make it one.
Agreed my g
(Sorry if there are any grammatical errors, i hate my phone)
i feel like it’s way more plausible that ben is letting his political bias get in the way of his view of transgenderism in science than literal educated doctors “letting their politics get in the way of science”

The major point though is: even if we agree with him that *historically* the terms man/woman- male/female have been used interchangeably to describe a person phenotype, why should that stop us from starting to use them in a different, more inclusive way?

As a marine bio student there's actually so many marine species that change sex throughout their lifetime. Humans are not an exception to being trans in nature, it may not look the same in terms of physical transition but the concept is essentially the same
You are a marine bio student, not a human bio student, for a reason. Just be quiet bro 😂😂😂
Just because I don't have a phd, doesn't mean that I can't do research and gain information(reliable information).

humans are not trans. u cant change biology. male is male and female is female
@@migueldiaz248 Yes, we know, you have a middle school level education. You don't need to flaunt how stupid you are. Cisgender women can have xy chromosomes you know... Heck, a cisgender woman had to lower her natural testosterone levels because it was giving her an edge in sports. We can't change biology, but our minds are biological. Or, did you forget humans have those, too? The biology you know was simplified so much to the point that it is inaccurate. As someone who took English, your sentence irritates me. Here's why.
Incorrect: humans are not trans. u cant change biology. male is male and female is female
Correct(The opinion is incorrect, though): Humans are not trans. You can't change biology. Male is male and female is female.
Don't correct people on biology, especially when you don't even know how to properly write a sentence about it. There's xx, xy, xxy, xyy, x, etc. Genotype, phenotype, gametes, cells, hormones, hormonal effects on the brain and body, some males grow facial hair, some don't, some females grow facial hair, some don't.

I saw Ben Shapiro in the title and all I said was "what now"😂
His eye brow artist must be off visiting family right now...

In lions there is actually an observed trend of gender roles, and they are interchangeable between the sexes.

@Ignacio Gerardo Albo Caballero Correct. Gender activists pretend to be completely innocent and don't want to intrude on anybody. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Because a fact is still a fact no matter who believes it or not.
But nah, you all just ignore that and keep being vapid and self-centered instead.

My school is in a mostly suburban district where a decent chunk of the students are conservative, so that makes everything they teach even more valuable.
This teacher also uses very different methods (because they hate the American education system) to teach and gives us easy mnemonics and things to associate the material with.

Buddy, we get it. You want pussy. You're not getting any pussy. Poor you. Stop focusing on sex. That's not the discussion. Just because you Say Big Words does not make you right.
Some animal kingdoms do have a cage concept of gender and/or sexual roles, but buddy you're not an animal biologist!
Uh oh! He needs to go back to elementary, *male* and *female* are adjectives! While *man* and *woman* are nouns. A man may still have female reproductive organs, thusly he can be pregnant, wishing him all the best in grade 3

Ben... no one said that male and female don't exist...
"Gender identity," as WHO points out, is related to but different from "gender," and refers to an individual's "deeply felt, internal and individual experience of gender, which may or may not correspond to the person's physiology or designated sex at birth."
Thus, "gender" is a social construct, but "gender identity" is not.
And, "define what a woman is without using the word woman, please." Sure, Ben. I'll play:
P E R S O N.

That's amazing!

He is intelligent. He graduated high school at 16. 2 years before most. He also has an advanced degree in political science. His achievements are not very easy.
@UCWZaxrROFtICHAI5p1SoDDw He's not going to fuck you, you know that right?

"... Trans women who've transitioned aren't really biologically male..." Yes! I am a trans-man and I tell people that, since I'm on T, I'm not biologically female. I have male hormone levels and secondary sex characteristics.
you are right.
You're still a female lol. Claiming that you're biologically male just because you took some hormons is just as idiotic as me claiming that i'm a citrus fruit because i ate 20 vitamin c pills.
@@ursuletul2001 That's completely different. Vitamin C doesn't make a citrus fruit, a citrus fruit. Citrus fruits just happens to be something that has vitamin C. However, testosterone is one of the things that makes a person biologically male. I can't truly be biologically female if my secondary sex characteristics and hormone levels are male. I guess, if we had to be technical, I'm not biologically intersex. I have characteristics of both sexes. I'll definitely take that over being female.
@@elliotlofton9970 Citric acid is one of the main compounds of citrus fruits , if I drink a bunch of it, that isn't going to turn me into citric fruit. It's not rocket science. Naturally, hormones come from your reproductive organs, which are determined by sex. Your sex is determined by DNA/chromosomes, something you will never change, no matter how many plastic surgeries or fake hormones you take. You will never be a man, no matter how much you lab made chemicals you poison your body with.
@@ursuletul2001 A) You never mentioned citrus acid, you mentioned citrus fruit and the vitamin C that could be in it. B) Though I was born female, I was born human. It's a much easier jump to go from human female to human male than from human of any sex to an actual orange. In fact, men and women are only about 15% different from each other, physically. I imagine that percentage is much higher when comparing a human to fruit.
I acknowledge I wasn't born male and that I'll never be able to be "fully" male. I'm short and I can't impregnate women. But transitioning has made me biologically more male than I was before. The hormones may be synthetic, but the secondary sex characteristics are real.

It's crazy too. I watched his debate a few days ago. In every single debate he acts like he "destroys" people but his only shtick really is just talking so fast so that you can't properly process what he says.
