Does he even have battlefield 5? Man, I would buy a singleplayer game with a story focused on the tank commander of the The Last Tiger and his buddy (the driver). I imagine such a game would have 4 or so campaigns each focusing on different years of the war.
@@theguiguid42 I was told the stories by a friend in the USAF intel (I was US Army Intel) they are kind of involved (ie. not short) stories but I will tell you one was over Vietnam (late 1960.s) with several SA-2's coming after it and another occurred in the late 70.s in Europe when the Russians tried to intercept an SR71 near to St Petersburg with multiple interceptors. The last one that I know of was over the Med. with SA.s coming up to say Hi. On those occasions the pilots turned off the speed limiter and pushed the throttles to the wall. The european one took him over France and into the Atlantic to slow down enough to turn back to a tanker before he was dry (uhh that is out of fuel)
I don't know if you've seen the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Darkstar, but that one is incredibly modeled and really satisfying to watch. The effects are amazing, and it also gives you a pretty good real-world demonstration of how fast it is.
I took off with the Darkstar in MSFS from Copenhagen at about 22:30-23:00 real time, sun had set and it was dark outside, flew to New York in less than 1 hour and cought up with the light and landed at around 18:00 NYC Time (00:00 Copenhagen time). Flew at Mach 10.0 at 275.000ft Alt. I believe I had about 2% fuel left when I landed.
The Darkstar in Microsoft Flight Sim is the best! I did a flight from SF to Cape Canaveral, flew a couple degrees off course and wound up flying over the Great Lakes a few minutes after starting the Scramjet LOL
Day 514: Phly, I challenge you to the conphusing aerial smokescreen challenge. Destroy three enemy aircrapht with smoke shells in a single game. Good luck. o7
So as an A&P I would Imagine countersunk rivets would be used, after that paint/primer followed by stealth coating. A lot of jets especially Air Force planes have thousands of rivets you wouldn’t know are there unless you sandblasted the plane.
Let's not forget the X-15 rocket plane. Most of its flights were in the Mach 5 range. It went up to Mach 6.7 (once) which took drop tanks for extra burn time, and an ablative coating to take the heat for the extra seconds, on top of a design that already couldn't take off under its own power. Improving on that is possible but "easy" is not the word for it.
You'd need a map the size of the US to properly fly this. as for the engine, Lockheed already has the engine it's a air breathing rocket. they bought the rights from UK's Reaction engines. it's capable of mach 6, and Lockheed has the contract for a one hour anywhere on earth attack plane... no joke. been following this stuff since i was 8 in the 80s.
I mean the Chinese actually thought the Darkstar was a real plane they even tried get pictures of it with a spy sat unfortunately for them it was just a movie concept prop.
Oh man. If it was easy to build something like the Darkstar, it would already exist😂. Mach 10 with airbreathing engines and a fully capable aircraft may be on the horizon, but we are definitely not there yet.
Nice vid, bud. As I watched your video, you mentioned the Black Bird in 1966, and my thoughts rushed to my latest experience with the F-104 Starfighter. It was pretty impressive for its time in 1954...in only nine years from the end of WW2, German tech took the USA to this fantastic speed machine. You are pretty much untouchable if you play it right at BR 9.3.
Bro, the weather? Pensacola FL today, 92 degrees and 100 percent humid. Born and raised. Sweat out whatever ails you in 5 seconds. Food poisoning, alcohol poisoning, rattlesnake bite, ebola, wife and kids, government b.s. dude.
*Begin Transmission* Day 73. This scramjet thing reminds me of the so-called “Aurora” project that was claimed to be something from Area 51 or the Lockheed Skunk Works. It’s funny. We are advancing into the future, but we forget the interesting lessons of the past. The T26E4 Super Pershing is a part of that lesson. I’ll let you all think about it in the long run. *End Transmission*
So, the way to get Mach 10 is go to 35-40k feet up, go upside down and do probably a 20k feet dive, turn on scram jet and then you should get Mach 10 from there.
I wouldn’t exactly call it “very doable” (sounds a bit too easy imo) it’s a massive undertaking. US is working hard on scramjet, ramjet technology. Sure we will get there eventually, but it’s akin figuring out fusion reactors (which we are also doing currently, and I personally find that even cooler than hypersonic cruising.)
Nah. There's several tens of billions in aircraft testing funds over the last few decades that only really make sense if this is what we're using it on. This stuff is almost certainly in testing or even pre-production.
@@kirbyjohnson3756 No, the problem currently is as I stated cruising. Missiles propel themselves to very high speeds and then use inertia, or they may burn for as long as they need to get to their target. We have already broken mach 5 with the X-15, but it’s flight time was only 10 minutes after another plane carried it to high altitude.
@@thelordofcringe I just want to say that you are missing my point entirely. We already have model fusion reactors and and the pentagon + civilian sectors are working on hypersonic designs. IT’S ALMOST LIKE I SAID IN MY COMMENT CALLING IT “very doable” makes the whole project sound too easy, wow would you look at that.
You're just at the grand canyons enjoying the views, the magnificent Cliffs, and the unbelievable power of water, and suddenly a shiny metal thing going over mach 1 just dodging and weaving through said Cliffs rips right passed you and lifts you and your family off the ground cars go flipping and every beam or rope holding you away from the ledge gets ripped out of the ground and sucked into the wind turbulence.. all this happen within a second with how fast its going and the wind turbulence is trapped in a open top barrel giving one way to escape and immense amount of psi to build
My guilty pleasure is playing the ugly and seemingly useless T55E1 in 7.3/7.7. At top speed of 80km/h I usually cap early, hide in a spot and take out soft and heavy targets from behind if all goes well. I know this is insane but you should try it. Also a useful way to save SL and get into a plane early game while helping your team with a cap.
A scramjet is still airbreathing. It's just a more effective technology for higher speeds where conventional turbojet engines hit their limits. They don't actually work at speeds below about Mach 3 so most of the time you used them was pretty much useless.
You can juse the Me 163 too ( to see the Stars in Warthunder) XD. It fly in 26 Km Altitude at M 1.01 with 20% trust, also in real battle. The best spyplane in the game 😇
Whats wild is they basically green screened the plane into the movie by using a different plane... It was also filmed around the Feather River Canyon in California, an area of northern california that has actually had a history in classic films such as The Adventures of Robin Hood.
4:51 wow he literally done that on purpose lol he made sure you hit mach at the end of the runway just so you could do that scene lol. Only if there was a building there that would crumble or something when you went over it not that you would be able to see it most likely but maybe just in case lol
Crazy that at 25k ft in my mirage Milan, granted ik its powered by the F1C engine, but in sim maps i got it too about Mach 2.07, fastest ive gone in war thunder by far

Yes sir
Day 2 of asking Phly to play the Scharnhorst again...
I cant thank you enough, nor anyone who subscribes. My deepest thanks to all 😭
As one Mr.Clarkson once so rightly said:
"SPEED never killed anybody! Suddenly becoming stationary? THAT'S what gets you!"
Hey phly have you ever considered looking into a game called fly out?
Combat video and mission file will be out Friday or Saturday, for you to download and play!
you should do the darkstar flight on microsoft flight sim as well as the other top gun content on there!
Get good soon!
cant wait
Get good soon man
bros the goat
Nice to see him finally get the recognition he deserves on his models, you should watch his livestreams where he shows the development process!
Day 64 of asking PHLY to play The Last Tiger in Battlefield for German suffering and glorious Glorifica

Same. That war story had so much thought put into it. Whole thing hit like a truck emotionally
No
My favorite SR-71 story will always be the LA speed story. Love seeing the darkstar in this as well
There are even cooler stories about the SR-71 like the three times the speed restriction was turned off in order to get out of some sticky situations.

Ac7's darkstar is fun for the fact it's a high-speed interceptor instead of a reconnaissance aircraft.

Everyone else: "What a cool model"

Navy aviation mechanic here, they DEFINITELY use flush rivets on anything that can approach Mach 1 or go past it👍
We need more top-gunnery from phly
Imagine seeing the x-15 which retired in 1968 going mach 6.7
note the audio bug around 2:50

Not me being fully invested in the pull after the bomber "love tap" yelling out "PULL PULL PULL PULL PULL"

This brings me back to 1992 and rumors swirling of a hypersonic "Aurora" aircraft with distinctive 'donuts on a rope' contrails ....

Welds break with the constant expansion and contraction. Rivets allow for movement so it does not break.

Forget the 1960s I'm still impressed with the Blackbird to this day it's literally a technological achievement
So this was the one we saw the other day on reddit. Looks awesome!

it basically is a space ship
