The Skyray actually could go supersonic without being in a dive, but in War Thunder, the only way to get .99 mach is diving from 22000 feet.
UPDATE: Went just mach 1 from 33000 feet before pancaking.

the F4D is NOT underperforming in game. IRL it could not exceed Mach 1 in level flight, only in a dive. I assume you got the idea that it should be supersonic in level flight from the first paragraph of the wikipedia article. Well, Wikipedia is wrong in this case and even in the same article under specifications they quote a much lower (correct) level flight top speed of 722mph at sea level. In War thunder it does 717mph at sea level. It matches the official Standard Aircraft Performance (SAC) data sheet very well.
And I was actually able to get it supersonic in a dive. I started from its level flight top speed of 641mph (Mach 0.98) @40,000ft. Entered a 20deg dive and very quickly reached supersonic by like ~38000feet. I then steepened my dive to 50deg and reached Mach 1.27 at ~20,000ft. The Mach limit of this plane in game according to the files is 1.55, so I bet you could even reach slightly higher Machs.
We need the vulcan bomber added so can enjoy true dorito shenanigans, I know it would be very impractical but its fun none the less

That's a lot of risk and especially after having a decent enough run at first for the video. So the chance of ruining the video bc he crashed on a carrier isn't worth it.
This jet is actually designed to do that so it wouldn’t be any fun

@@audittlivereaction1964 arty only kills if called at it’s highest accuracy, many players just call it just to call it so it doesn’t happen often

Did you know that the Douglas F4D was the first official delta in service beating the Gloster Javelin by several months and it was originally set to carry 4 Aim-9 sidewinders and 2 drop tanks
Can confirm it had the CCIP when it came out but it also ripped in 3g turns if you happened to tap roll for .05 seconds

@@certaindeath7776 it will rip at high speeds (800-1000) if you want to do a crazy turn with full flaps (that don't rip ever), airbrake and afterburner, because it will pull like 20Gs lol, so the pilot should be a milkshake anyway.
The turnrate is pretty shitty. You either go too fast and compress (over 650kph)
Or too slow and lose all speed in 2 seconds.
The speed, climb and guns are ok tho
Glad to see the f4d getting love, it might not be perfect as a fighter. But as a ground pounder it does its job well.

One thing I really want them to change is the ability to change loadouts in ground rb. There is no reason you shouldn’t be able to land or drive to a cap point and change your loadout from say 40MM to 120MM if you acquire the spawn points to do so.
well not being able to do it on a cap point makes sense, obviously there wouldnt be any logistical equipment around to allow for loadout changes for aircraft. But you should definitely be able to do it on an airfield.
@@CrazyDutchguys fair point, although the ability to replenish crew on a cap point whilst being shot at, or repair and/or put out a fire on a cap point when you wouldn’t otherwise be able to do so is also a problem from a logistical point of view. Not saying I want that to change (far from it), just saying you can’t argue for it one way and exclude the other.
@@CrazyDutchguys you are able to change your loadout on the airfield. After being fully repaired J out and you will be able to change your loadout again

17k repair cost keeps it from being a part of my 9.0 lineup. I'd rather use a 8.0 BR aircraft with a 6k repair cost
