I knew he would say something like this, and when he did, i almost cried.
It was the best part of the movie
totally agree, it like bring the love to another level.
It was surprisingly good, just like the entire film!
I thought to myself "wow. That was smooth.
Did you miss all of the Star Wars references Antoine made? Not just the "Padawan" and "Emperor" joke he made, but also when he told his guards to "Leave us." like Darth Vader did in Episode 5.
This is why Waititi is an excellent canidate to helm the next Star Wars movies. His attention to detail and lore knowledge.

1:48 I’m pretty sure that coffee list could be nod to the constant difficulty setting in certain games where you can pick between very easy, easy, normal, hard, and very hard.
I like actually smiled very brightly when Buddy came back at the very end. That made me SO happy

I was surprised! It was definitely carried by Ryan Reynolds great acting. It was fun and funny. The pop culture fight at the end was cool too. I would watch it again.

How did Erik Voss and the team missed one of the most obvious references to John Carpenter’s “They Live”? In that movie characters could only see the reality of their world by putting on special glasses.

I love how people assumed this would be a lame movie, and then were pleasantly surprised. I, unfortunately, always knew this would be a fantastic movie. Easily one of the best films in the last few years.

This film is UNREASONABLY GOOD. It has no right to be as amazing as it is. I laughed, I cried, I jumped with joy. It's exactly as unexpectedly good as The Lego Movie was when it came out.

I loved how this movie was as much about game DESIGN as much as it was about game references themselves. From the blue sky default background to all the background stuff the attention to detail was on point.
the first coffee shop scene reminded me so much of The Lego Movie when Emmett (another NPC type character) is drinking his awesome coffee

i kept seeing ‘player glitches’ and it was so cool to see lmao
It almost looked like one of the players was trying to exploit a glitch, when they kept jumping into the wall, and then suddenly moved upward

Loved the glitches. So funny. Several times I saw either players "practicing" in the background...Just jumping up and down...or maybe an NPC glitching.
I would have never expected a reference to Garry's Mod/ Half-life in a big blockbuster movie. It makes me happy. :)

@@imnotpicklerick1444 Well the portal gun used in the movie isn't necessarily designed to look exactly like the Aperture Science Portal Gun but it's still a reference to Portal nonetheless.
The mech walking by at the beginning is actually a Mantis from the Halo series. Another vehicle Erik skipped over is the Warthog that races by in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment.
They could've easily messed up this movie, but no, they went the full mile, and I love them for it.
This is a hilarious movie with a beautiful story, a lot of "reference movies" come across as lazy cash-grabs, and I was worried that this would be one of them, but it was the complete opposite. You could remove every reference and still have an amazing movie.

My favourite scene in the movie is “what the shit?”
Everything about this movie was so good: It was filmed in Boston first of all, Chris Evans cameo, Caps shield, Hulks fist, Avengers theme, a lightsaber, Star Wars theme, Infinity War poster, tons of references and meta jokes about game development and other stuff, the game was literally based around GTA, Ryan Reynolds is the perfect person to play an NPC, it had the portal gun, GMOD gravity gun, so many things

This movie was made over year before it was released, and the date on Jack’s videos in the movie date late 2020. His dad passed late January this year. And the movie was supposed to be released 6 months before his dad passed. I get your sentiment but still.

This film had no right being as heartfelt yet hilarious as it was! Missed The Rock cameo, thanks as always Mr. Voss.
Came on here to say the same thing! Compared to the bombastic action blockbusters we've had this summer, this is the most heartfelt, funny, tear jerking and downright enjoyable movie of all.
7:20 I really want to say that the Joust poster might have been a Ready Player One reference, from the book at least, I don't recall if it was in the movie.
The joust solution was not in the movie, they changed it to the race scene.
In the movie, rp1, the pork chop express is the semi that jackknifes in the race. Lol

There's also another easter egg where the pink rabbit cop says "Get Over Here", a famous line of word by Ed Boon/Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.

First, bolts on the doors would be a reference to the fact in most games there are just hundreds of doors that you can never open, no matter what you do. Second, the Gin is most likely Aviation Gin, Reynolds gin company.

It's not Fortnite style, but more like GTA online. And the parachute just looks based on the Fortnite one.

I've watched this film 3 times at least now and just keeps getting better every time. In a world where all we seem to get right now is reboots or squeals it's so great even with all Easter eggs from other things that this film feels so original.

At 2:08 that giant robot I think is the mech from fortnite a while back. The directors and producers said that they were basing it off on gta, fortnite, and lot of different games

I had so much fun with this movie! Will definitely watch again. When he pulled out Caps shield my theater got loud like it was full but it was a matinee! The Chris Evans cameo followed by the Light Saber was epic.

This film was so good, I loved the references and I just overall loved this film. The only thing that made Ready Player One better for me was that it’s retro. Touchwood, they’re actually starting to make good video game films, including original ideas
