I like that Keanu Reeves was outed as an immortal and he started to age. Dude is deff an immortal and is just letting his look change to move on to a new identity.
They say in alot of ancient traditions that a truly good soul actually slows down the aging process. I believe keanu is one of these people. When i saw the clip of him on the subway, i knew right then there was something different about this guy.
Just in fyi there is more then one type of immortality one in which you can't get hurt but it doesn't mean they can't age or the other way around although ik ur just jokin or smth lol
Same. I feel like he could’ve powered through those injuries with no issue, but by that point he had already spent the entire movie coming to terms with the fact that the only way out from under the High Table is in death. Plus, he really didn’t have anything left. Most of his friends were dead, Helen was gone, his house was destroyed and he would most likely continue to be dragged back in if he kept living. So he probably was just ready to die.
@@kidshaldeman2091 But didn't he have the whole thing about him wanting to live so that he can remember it all. Going by that, even losing everything at the end, no way he wont power through to the injuries
I like to imagine these movies as video games turned into a movie. It really fits perfectly. Endless waves of enemies, they get stronger, John just walks away all he's injuries. It's basically just a game. Also yeah John's not dead, just the legend. Winston kinda hints it saying he could be anywhere
During this playthough, John got the rare "French" ending. In order to get that one, you have to do a lot of things just right, especially during the Osaka quest
It also has the same atmosphere as a video game. It seems all open and complicated, but really it revolves around 1 single thing (in John Wick it's assassins, in COD [for example] it soliders).
Well I mean you know their code words. Take me home could mean time to finish this plan and fake my death so this case will be closed and the high table saves face
My only theory if he did die, is that he let himself die, and if he rly fully accepted it, completely satisfied with his revenge then, his healing factor wouldn’t work, mainly bc his mind can control what his body does, like some people with healing factor can die if they wanted to, it rly depends on the char
I think if he did die, it was in the first film and everything that follows is just a "fever dream." Rather than his life flashing before his eyes, it's his drive for revenge over the puppy. A case of the mind being willing and able, but the body soft and weak.
The John Wick that died at the end of CH 4 was the loving husband. The movie even starts with the elder telling John to forget about finding his wedding band. The events of this series happened because he couldn't grieve properly and let go of his wife, the dog she left him, their home, his car etc. The montage on the steps was him letting go. In this universe the legend of John Wick (baba yaga) literally cannot die. Maybe he's finally accepted that.
He actually didn't die. He was dead all along. After the death of his wife, he died inside. He was a broken hearted husband who just lost his life-partner. He lived through his pure will. At the end, he let go of himself and finally went to rest.
@@terraprint9183only that wasn.t will that was just a fake look alike cuz remember that scene where hopper cuts open his skin and finds out that there is actually wool or some kind of wool stuffed inside him
You're right about his most serious injury being at the start of the first movie, but it's not when he's hit in the head. It's when they killed his puppy. That hurt the most.
As side note. Some people have especially hard heads and as experienced assassin he could be smart enough to fake his lost of consciousness. One missed opportunity is that during hit in the rail it could bend or break. This actually would absorb lot of force. And if could happen if it was poorly maintained.
Keanu was involved with a comicbook called Bezerk(or something like that). He helped with the plot and let his 'likeness' be used for the main character. . .and it's about a man who was born. . .ten thousand years ago and can't die.
For a sec there I thought you were talking about the japanese manga Berserk by Kentaro Miura, whose MC Guts is seemingly unkillable aswell, although instead of being immortal, dude is just far too pissed off to die
The grass on John’s grave was also green. Assuming that he was actually dead, and they visited his grave very soon after his death, his grave should be dirt because they buried him. Obviously there’s nothing under there if the grass is still green immediately after his death
I knew he didnt die because of the card scene. Everyone had their own set of cards where they all cheated. John pulled the deadman's hand. He literally cheated death.
Vigo describes John Wick as a man of "unbeatable levels of determination, strong will and a presence of pure focus." Could you imagine what John Wick could do with a Green Lantern Power Ring? He'd be unstoppable.
I always thought that the reason he died in chapter 4 was because he was free from the high table and could live his life in peace as well as he helped his last few friends. Basically meaning that he has nothing left pushing him to continue living, like the adrenaline in his body is gone and he’s tired from all the fighting that he succumbs to wounds that wouldn’t have killed him normally. At least that was the only reason i could think of that he could die
Also for a predicted note, the idea that John would fake his death is mentioned slightly during one of the conversations about the rules, and last we checked the high table never agreed to remove his bounty, just that he no longer had to work for them
I think the suit stain drying but no wound on his body absolutely confirms it, I mean the attention to detail in these movies is insane and that couldn’t have been by accident
I don't think it was the injuries that killed him but rather nothing to live for. His mission was completed, his goals were all achieved. For once he was at peace allowing his body to stop as he passed away.
Nothing to live for? Oh man you don't know John Wick. He made promises. If he did not have anything to live for the franchise would have ended when his wife died. Did you even watch John Wick?
This is similar to how I was conned into watching Shakespeare in Love. I was told that it's a sweet romantic comedy, and then that ending annihilated me. I suspect that the person who sold me that line just wanted me to suffer like they did; which is fair.
~to be fair~ Keanu Reeves has been playing the character for almost a decade now. I don't think it's a stretch to think they'd like to leave while on top. Spin-offs seem to be in the works with "Ballerina" and "Caine"
@The FiIm Thoerists 🅥 ur not real u took Matpats name but used a v to look like the checkmark to fraud him Edit: I POSTED THIS REPLY A COUPLE HOURS AGO HOW IS IT ALREADY AT 28 LIKES ESPECIALLY AS A REPLY AND NOT A COMMENT
It’s supposed to be modern day mythology, he completely filled out his character arc (personally they set him back for the fourth film to do this) but there’s nothing left for him to do. I would like it if he somehow managed to settle down and run a dog shelter or something like that but everything foreshadowed his death like the whole length of the film
I like the idea of John having some supernatural power and the evidence is there, but I’m surprised MatPat didn’t talk about the power of adrenaline cuz it seems like John is running solely on that until he frees himself
Fun fact: the John Wick films are bullet accurate, which means that the amount of bullets flying through the air is what would be flying through the air in a real firefight.
At multiple points throughout 4 i noticed that john went abnormally long without reloading. The fight at the arc really caught my attention, he was still using the viper he got from bowery king but at one point my count for shots fired without a reload was at 32. With a 21 round capacity magazine. Maybe i missed some reloads? Im planning to rewatch to specifically confirm/refute that and double check to make sure i didnt miss any reloads/weapon swaps.
@@kpenis17 thats part of why ill be rewatching it to double check. It was something that caught my attention. Giving it benefit of the doubt by counting anytime not shooting with hands not visible as a reload. I think the fact that the first 3 were so good about it, and the sheer chaos of the fights, might have made it seem like he wasnt? Wont know for sure until i rewatch
My head cannon is that John Wick just has sooooo much Focus and Willpower that he can't die until he achieves his goals, and once he does by the end of Chapter 4, he just keels over cause he got nothing left.
Isn't really head canon when it's true. In the first one when they talk about how legendary Wick was and that the guy literally pissed off the wrong person, he spoke about how indominable his will was. Calling Wick a "superhero" is just lazy.
his will is just that ironclad that he is actually dead by the end of chapter 3 but his will wont allow the body to stop until the end of chapter 4 when everything has been resolved.
Okay, so he's the sort whose ghost would reanimate his own dead body and become a vampire or something if he felt the need. And there's your Chapter 5.
John is DEFINITELY alive! There were several hints, you mentioned a lot of them in this video. The other is that Winston kind of suggested that maybe John take a different approach, so he didn't keep getting hunted after. Brilliant if you ask me. Unfortunately, I think, that one dudes dog is gonna die or something for John to come back again.
I think another important thing to note is the fact that the high table is RICH and well connected. Not a stretch to say john got some of their best doctors and surgeries. Lets not forget about the drugs he could’ve gotten in between the movies.
that wouldn’t be possible after the second movie, because remember he got cut off from everything for breaking the rules. unless, said doctors also broke the rules to help John because they were good friends with him. so i can see your point.
@@daydreamers8254 wasnt he only reinstated with the russian family? also at the end of the duel doesnt mr krabs say "your duty to the high table is concluded" or something like that?
The fact that John Wick is canonically connected to Payday and Hardcore Henry, both franchises that deal with superhero esque/supernatural abilities, helps MatPats case here
@@vancanninjaman1217 the only one that canon wise has some logic to it is payday and john wick because you can find the payday gangs wanted posters in the background i forget which film though
Surprised he never mentioned how if John actually was dead and buried the grass wouldn’t have fully grown back yet as that’s clearly the first Time they visited his grave based on the dialogue also their dialogue probably means they (well only Winston initially) knew he was alive. The movie also focused on the dog turning it’s head to something meaning it was important and that John was probably watching from a distance.
I didn't think Cain could tell what cards were there, he knew what they would be from the other hands dealt. Each hand had meaning, and they pointed out that dealer was a cheat that gave all 3 specific hands.
The whole idea of John wick having superpowers makes sense as John wick technically takes place in the same world as the payday games which itself has a person with the power of psychokineses in its live action videos
The Payday universe is wild. John Wick, Hardcore Henry, Hotline Miami, Scarface, and Point Break all take place within Payday's overall canon. What a terrifying world to live in.
@@waifuwaffles7697 Yep, based off the live action trailer and two of the heists, Payday takes place sometime before Hardcore Henry does. You can even see Jimmy's duct tape mask very briefly in one of the scenes in the actual movie.
I like how Caine stabbed one of the assassins with a pencil, a metaphor from the first movie when the dad of the guy who killed John's dog told him how he saw John killed 3 men with a pencil
When I first saw the title to this video, I wondered if it would get into the concept of quantum immortality, which is a thought experiment in quantum physics... that basically John Wick is so lucky that his luck will even prevent his death from ageing. Once he started talking about the duel, my theory now is that they both worked together to deliberately hit non-lethal areas to pull a fast one and allow Wick to fake his death.
Going off the healing factor, he may have accelerated growth/regeneration much like the clones from Star Wars. We also see how fast his hair grew from chapters 1-3
Funny how, of all the dramatic falls and impacts John sustained, it's the often trivialized club to the head that's the most dangerous. And it's such a common storytelling trope, too.
For real. Knocking someone in the head is a fairly consistent way to disrupt, or outright stop, most autonomic processes. If you nail the right spot along the occipital bone, you can significantly disrupt someone's vision and coordination with a light impact. Folks who are trained to accurately strike with significant force, either hand-to-hand or with a weapon, can reliably unalive someone by causing cardiac or pulmonary arrest. And that's just the immediate consequences; well before we get to the long term problems associated with concussions and TBIs. Don't hit people in the head, especially if you don't know what you're doing, unless you're ready for them to be dead.
Nah, dude folded like a cheap Walmart cot landing on a bar or whatever in the middle of his spine after falling at least ten feet. Twice. Once at the end of three and once at some point in four. That’s paralysis or worse for a normal human, every time.
Maybe it's just me but... I would have been surprised if the movie ended WITHOUT him "dying". Whether he stays that way or not. I think it was pretty clear that was gonna happen with the overall arc of the four films and the specific thematic elements in 4.
I like how it also fits to the John Wick from the PD2, since it's a game that u can actually heal yourself just from killing enemies (and maybe can also explain why the rest of the crew seems to have similar abilities)
He basically did introduce the PAYDAY gang to the wider underworld and they are working. Their services can be for hire for the right conditions and it seems like it usually is because you get Continental coins for your troubles. But on the other hand, it can be written as noncanon at least until we find out if Starbreeze collabs with the John Wick crew again since PD3 is going to the Big Apple.
About the falls, he is also wearing clothing that is meant to take impacts for him even able to stop bullets at point blank ranges so he has a protective layer of flexible armor on his back every time he falls. Now onto the super powers aspect, it is also possible that John wick has him self a bone density and even a muscle density mutation. He is shown to take many hits that would normally cause a lot of damage to a person and continue going before they heal and I think that may have been do to his bones being denser than normal making them stronger which would make him heavier. Additionally as death battle points out, John wick has some level of super strength, and as someone who has a Myostatin muscle hypertrophy mutation, I can speak with experience on this subject. In my case I have about 1.3 times the amount of muscle strands per mm across my entire body or in other words, normal people have about 50 strands per millimeter and I have about 65 per millimeter. This allows me to lift and push weight like a professional body builder dispite the fact I am barely more fit than the average man and my weight would tell you otherwise as I weigh 220 pounds but look like your average 180 pound 5,10 male just because the extra muscle strands make me heavier. I have also learned that muscle helps soften impacts and having more of it would absorb more force than normally possible which would again explain another reason that John wick can take all that damage and keep moving.
MatPat also erroneously factored in acceleration in the club fall. Horizontal to vertical momentum should have been on a parabolic calculation, not inertial-neutral. Also, like you, I carry a higher bone density, increased muscular torsion and with training one can have their muscle memory to just, "Go loose" when falling from heights. Yeah, John Wick is very alive after his falls.
@@Guildguy457 I only have increased muscle strand count not a bone density mutation but I have researched it. It is cool to see some else similar to me responding to my comment though.
I felt that if he did actually die on the steps it was because he was finally able to die a free man and that was why he refused to die until then. But, it seemed strange how he said about going home, then next scene he's alone on the steps and collapses. That felt like a setup to make others believe he's dead but he isn't.
Remember however, he was wearing armor during those falls, armor that reliably and repeatedly stopped small arms fire; most likely the armor material is capable of efficiently spreading impact force over its entire area. This would have certainly absorbed some of the impact during his falls...as a result the fall onto the fire escape would not be equivalent to concentrating all that force on his lower spine but over his entire torso.
My man folded like a cheap Walmart cot. Modern body armor really doesn’t do that all that well, it’s mostly steel plate. Sure, you’re slightly better off having a steel plate rammed into your spine than that little bar, but not much better off.
@@derekeastman7771 Late to this but... I always considered the armor they use in these movies to be super-advanced futuristic-type armor made from some innovative material. I just remember the characters in chapter 4 using their suit plating to block bullets like they were nothing which to that extent isn't something normal armor can do. If it's something like I've explained it has to play some type of unearthly positive effect on the damage wick has taken over the movies. Then again I'm no expert in body armor and I'm using my one watch of chapter 4 from months ago as my reference.
I LITERALLY said to my friend after watching this movie “I think John Wick is still gonna be alive” and he was like “bRo tHeY LiTeRaLlY BuRiEd HiM” and i still argued. I just sent this video to him. THANK YOU MATPAT.
I was watching part 4 the other day. My grandfather walked in at the end and said, "Well John Wick is dead, huh!?" My response was, "He's survived worse."
1:56 think about it, if he was still alive EVERYBODY would be after him and because he wants "retirement" he can't do it with everybody asking him to do something else for them so in John Wick fashion he pulls the uno reverse card of his "death"
You should do a theory on how much Kevlar you need to make a near bulletproof blazer and suit. Found that a bit comical how everyone was safe from point blank shots
I believe John did really die after the final duel. Throughout the films, I imagine that John was only surviving off of adrenaline and sheer will. Obviously Cain's shots were not meant to be lethal, but after finally escaping the high table, he's done. John no longer needs to cling onto life.
Exactly. I felt like throughout the entire movie. John Refuses to die or give up. But when his main objective is over, and was able to set himself free. He finally accepted to die as John wick, a loving husband instead of Dying as The Boogeyman
I DO like the idea of John being far more durable/having rapid healing…but theres a flaw in the theory that I just thought of-if he has a healing factor…. Then how come he hasn’t regenerated the finger that he lost?
I love this style of oldschool theory. We all know that the lack of scars etc is just cause they dont care enough and it's supposed to be silly. But it's just so much fun to think that it actually has a deeper meaning
At 7:13 when Matpat says he jumps out of the fourth story made me remember a friend who once fell out of the sixth story and survived and that was when we were little
IMO that is something else that should have been touched on. Whilst Johns suit is bulletproof, they make a clear point of telling and showing the audience that he still feels those shots. Whilst they wouldn’t penetrate him, his bones would be broken by the things he gets hit by.
Honestly those suits are the biggest macguffin of the whole series. But that being said, there are some instances that indicate body armor can make a difference in car accidents. Massad Ayoob has a good story about just such an occasion, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume the suits could help marginally
The fact you didn’t just say “The reason Wick has to be alive is because Kane is alive so Wick has to come back to finish him” is commitment to the job
Him being some type of mutant is the only thing that makes sense to me about that series. The amount of damage John Wick takes and gives always felt supernatural if not something within the freaking matrix.
take into account his upbringing. his "mother" specifically teaches that life is pain and so she pushes them to the breaking point every chance she gets so the pain and injuries dont matter. Only the goal. the pain will never end. its a part of life.
I honestly find the ending in chapter 4 fitting for his character as he achieved his goal and there is nothing for him to do. Also keanu reeves is in his 50's and deserve a rest from the john wick role as it's very heavy and requires a lot of training especially for the stuns that he did in chapter 4.
It's still very easy death for john wick he can't die like that he didn't after all those injuries in previous movies so definitely there's chapter 5 coming
When you discuss the force needed to break John Wick’s back you specifically call out the force it would take to draft a cervical spine. The cervical spine make up the top 7 vertebrae (mainly the neck). John is hitting the beam on his mid to low back most likely injuring the lumbar and lower thoracic spine.
This is true, but the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae are typically a good bit heftier and larger than the cervicals, which I would think means they’d require even more force to break
One thing that seriously bugs me about these movies is that John Wick had hundreds, probably thousands of trained killers coming after him, AND NOBODY THOUGHT OF HIRING A SNIPER?!?!?
There was Marcus, but then again... I don't think that a sniper has worked well over someone who's just as skilled in distance more than he is at first to first combat.
I definitely agree with this or another theory I have is that John Wick is one of the iterations of Neo from the Matrix, that's how he's able to survive all that. He's even got Morphious there to help him.
DAWG IVE BEEN THINKING THE SAME THING SINCE 3, isn’t it u squally how a LOT of characters from the matrix are In this film or make appearances. And there’s a heavy emphasis on GREEN through out a lot of films including 3. Plus the fact he’s so good. My theory is after the matrix the humans took control of the matrix and dominated from within creating the high table and used Neo as a suppressant to handle any uprisings, seeing as he goes for a lot of wealthy and powerful members.
i just always think that humans in that universe is slight more resistant. but it is also fair. you also see villains get hit by cars and fall down. but all them either get crushed between 2 vehicles or land badly to die
John wick having a heating factor is a cool idea. However, going from that to him being completely immortal is definitely a stretch. Good video regardless!
From the first movie, I've seen John Wick as the angel of death in human form. Unlike most of the assassins in that world, he has a genuine heart and a code of honor. All those who share that code of honor respect him and are his friends. For the rest of the underworld, he is the unstoppable boogeyman of vengeance and punishment they deserve for their hubris and unchecked power. The High Table literally sacrificed/murdered the idea of being Innocent and pure - John Wick's dog - that started their downfall. That's my view anyway
Except the high table didn't have his dog killed. That was the actions of the kid that stole his car. The high table weren't really involved until the second movie.
@@pooldeadpool1535 that is true. I took it that the snotnosed punk is still under the hierarchy of the High Table and was protected under their rules to an extent. But yes, the people at the top respected John, but the younger members, including in #4, earned his wrath
I have thought he has been either cursed or blessed by Death. Perhaps he made a deal with something when he was young and trying to survive in the world of the Table. Perhaps just by accident, he has gained supernatural being's favour, and been made into embodiment of vengeful death.
The High Table had nothing to do with it. Just a Greyjoy-I mean- Russian crime lord's son being really entitled and going to the extremes of being a Kevin. Sure, he may have been under the Table but that doesn't mean the Table knew what the tiniest of mice were up to. Not until they heard John Wick was back and killing everyone in his way for this mouse.
A person would have to be a fool to think that he actually died. Love your theory on the doctors wounds being identical total to his at the end. No end to that sort of things in Keanus movies.
The fact that you can hear JW's breathing while he's sitting on the steps and having his memory flashback, but then the breathing stops as he flops over, has me believing that he did actually die. I hope I'm wrong, though.
Kinda unfair to pit a fight with a realistic Assassin against a spy with futuristic weapons and abilities so death battle dropped the ball on that one if it was a battle without futuristic gadgets and based purely on skill bond would no doubt be double o dead
I just want to say I REALLY appreciate your spoiler warning for John Wick 4. A lot of YT get sloppy with this and I appreciate that you put it right at the beginning! I'll watch JW4 and then eagerly return to this video 😄
This was pretty sloppy honestly since the spoiler came like a second after saying "spoilers". Give us a chance to click off, not everyone is hovering over the pause button
He wouldn't be able to, even if a person couldn't feel pain at all. They wouldn't be able to walk if they had a broken back. Since it's the nerves and spinal fluid from the back that control the legs
If your impossible willpower extends to the point of telekinesis, then you can. Like if John is actually his own ghost, animating his body even though it died in Episode 1.
another instance of john having superpowers is when he just vanishes in the new york terminal. even the other assassin who just did a similar trick was no match and dies instantly. when john vanishes, the lead assassin even admits its a nice trick.
My dad and I picked up on certain scene placements after our first viewing and it may be that the first scene in the film is actually the last chronologically, where he is recovering from the end of the film. Just a cool theory and would explain if he survives.
Maybe Winston just ordered the grave plot to be made before the duel just incase everything didnt go according to plan and both himself and Wick got killed. Earlier in the film Wick asked if he would get those words put on his grave. Winston just ordered to have his wishes carried out before the duel to play it safe if things went south.
I really like this theory but he should have added the fact that the dog looks up at the end in the distance. It seems like he was looking at John. Also I like the idea that he is a man of focus, commitment and sheer will, that is why he is able to beat all of them and he won't stop until the high table is gone for good. Edit: Wanted to add that just saying he has superpowers diminishes his character and does a disservice to it. "He is alive just because of his sheer will and wanting to remember his wife" sounds alot better in my head
He won't go for the high table. Because all he ever wanted was peace and freedom. He earned his freedom with the duel and now just wants to relax. When i think of John Wick after Chapter 4, all I'm thinking is of him living in a small countryside home with his good dog, away from all the city troubles, and making some toast.
@@justaguy_yt1240 If they do go the "he's in hiding" route, I think they may have it revealed to John that Winston is his father, and have him be in danger to lure him back out. I'd rather he be dead and it end at 4, since he fulfilled his mission and found peace, but money talks and Keanu is on record stating that he'd keep doing John WIck movies as long as the people want him to.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the final wounds exactly mimicking the doctor's. at least the first two shots weren't meant to do anything serious
I haven't watched movies i just watch all your videos because i like the content but seeing these clips of John falling off buildings and into other things is absolutely hysterical A comedy crash sound compilation would just suit so well with the clips
8:47 you can’t just compare Joules and Newtons like that, they measure different things. You can only compare the values like that if the stopping force is applied over 1 meter (Energy = Force x Distance).
EDIT: What should be done is to calculate Keanu's speed and, because the floor deaccelarete it all almost imeadiatly (assuming .2s), that would be your accelaration/5. You can use torricelli, v²= v0²+2*acceleration*height. Inicial speed 0, acceleration=9,8 m/s² , height 11.5; we get a speed of 15m/s, so the acceleration is 75m/s² on the moment of the fall. So the force would be 80kg*75m/s², 6000 N. It could potentially break his back. On the second fall calculation, the speed is lower, but i would say its more dangerous than the first, because we face a problem because of the small area the thin rail has, the hit in concentrated creating tension, which can do serious damage.
@@braziliancyborg4249 You can’t convert velocity to acceleration like that, it assumes he comes to a stop in 1 second. You’d either need to know the distance the force was applied over or the time it takes for him to stop, both of which are minuscule, thus creating a massive force. Like being generous and saying the stopping force was applied over 0.1 meters generates a force nearly 10x the force needed to break his back.
Or calculate the impulse (change in momentum ∆p), which can be found using KE=p²/(2m), then estimate the amount of time it takes to stop the motion ∆t, and use F=∆p/∆t.
I saw this movie and immediately thought that after the table closed his accounts, he still just faked his death to prevent anyone that still had beef with him from attacking despite the bounty being closed.
The end of John Wick chapter 4 really surprised me. Also its kind of insane to think that the whole reason the John Wick movies started with basically a dead puppy and a stolen car.
While rewatching the 4 movies I also noticed that John would seem to let his body stumble around and avoid getting stiff whenever he gets hit by a moving object or falling from high places. (I might be wrong for this) but wouldn't this help him distribute the force evenly?
Matpat's conflating energy and force here, which really complicates this. For a force calculation, the energy matters less than the momentum (mass*velocity). While the energy can be used to get how fast he's falling, the amount of force he sustains is a function of how much momentum he loses, and how quickly (aka Force = change in momentum/time). By avoiding stiffening up and riding the trauma, John Wick significantly increases how long the collisions that cause transfer of momentum take, reducing the forces involved, making them much more survivable. This is why freerunners or parkour experts will roll out of most drops, that greatly increases the amount of time the momentum takes to dissipate, and lowers the forces involved dramatically Tl;Dr yes, but not because of how Matpat presents the problem
Lol! Nobody can survive trauma to the cranium like John does. At the end of parabellum, nibba literally hits his head on asphalt, from a 50ft drop. Nobody can survive that unless their cranium is made up of Titanium or something. 😂
This actually does help if you watch when a baby falls they instinctively js go limp to nulify alot of the damage. Yes ragdolling while bieng hit by a car will lead to more roadrash etc ur alot less likely to break bones
IN CASE they bring another 1 its left the door open for a possible JW 5th...and i think it was him passing out from the pain and they staged the burial so he can in quiet and peace live out the rest of his days so the other assassins who cant leave well enough alone since John earned his freedom ...continue to go after him to make a name for themselves.

I think John Wick was only alive out of pure will. Once he achieved his mission, there was nothing left to do, and therefore, he died. It's poetic.
He died the Julius Caesar way out
sounds like darth maul and darth vader strategy
Exactly, he got his freedom and he doesn’t have a reason to be alive anymore

I love this ❤
He actually didn't die. He was dead all along. After the death of his wife, he died inside. He was a broken hearted husband who just lost his life-partner. He lived through his pure will. At the end, he let go of himself and finally went to rest.

As side note. Some people have especially hard heads and as experienced assassin he could be smart enough to fake his lost of consciousness.

With a fucking... pencil.

3:44 this observation is BRILLIANT (and accurate)!!
Wow, very interesting. I did not know such a thing existed!

He did warn you. Tut tut.
I agree with derekeastman but you made a good point.

Would the bullet proof suit help to dissipate some of the force from falling on the fire escape?
Probably not, mostly because it's still flexible like normal fabric
IMO that is something else that should have been touched on. Whilst Johns suit is bulletproof, they make a clear point of telling and showing the audience that he still feels those shots. Whilst they wouldn’t penetrate him, his bones would be broken by the things he gets hit by.
Honestly those suits are the biggest macguffin of the whole series. But that being said, there are some instances that indicate body armor can make a difference in car accidents. Massad Ayoob has a good story about just such an occasion, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume the suits could help marginally

Him being some type of mutant is the only thing that makes sense to me about that series. The amount of damage John Wick takes and gives always felt supernatural if not something within the freaking matrix.
John Wick is the prequel to Constantine. 😂
take into account his upbringing. his "mother" specifically teaches that life is pain and so she pushes them to the breaking point every chance she gets so the pain and injuries dont matter.
The director said that JW4 was a good close for the saga, but it was open to continue, and Keanu agreed.
no. if we can get 45675787 fckass marvel/fnf movies the john wick franchise should get the same as well
13:46 i think his body got adapted to healing
I always figured he had superpowers because the sheer amount of damage he takes (in particular the frequency of blows)
Lets spam matpat to include this in other back-breaking videos.
They did try and do this John Wick Chapter 2
They did this before
There was Marcus, but then again... I don't think that a sniper has worked well over someone who's just as skilled in distance more than he is at first to first combat.

And Fun Fact The Karate Kid 1 2 and 3 all take place in one year. most people miss that
I love John Wick please do more about him if you can MatPat.
I definitely agree with this or another theory I have is that John Wick is one of the iterations of Neo from the Matrix, that's how he's able to survive all that. He's even got Morphious there to help him.
It’s the same actor so mabye😂 also this is HILARIOUS😂
DAWG IVE BEEN THINKING THE SAME THING SINCE 3, isn’t it u squally how a LOT of characters from the matrix are In this film or make appearances. And there’s a heavy emphasis on GREEN through out a lot of films including 3. Plus the fact he’s so good. My theory is after the matrix the humans took control of the matrix and dominated from within creating the high table and used Neo as a suppressant to handle any uprisings, seeing as he goes for a lot of wealthy and powerful members.
Yes, Morpheus, and, the Son of Morpheus, aka Mr. Nobody.
Yes. I am down for this theory especially since the director worked on the Matrix.
i just always think that humans in that universe is slight more resistant. but it is also fair. you also see villains get hit by cars and fall down. but all them either get crushed between 2 vehicles or land badly to die
Could be his consciousness. Js
Congratulations Past pat, you were right
7:19 that noise 💀
*Doom guy grunting noise*
MattPatt: John wick can't die. James Bond: Am I a joke to you?
Well, he probably wins against James bond mid diff He has not as much combat experience
@@diogoferreira7427 What no. It's a Death battle reference.
@@barrytremblay4906 Death battle was BS.
@@theburgerfryer what is that supposed to mean?
Kinda unfair to pit a fight with a realistic Assassin against a spy with futuristic weapons and abilities so death battle dropped the ball on that one if it was a battle without futuristic gadgets and based purely on skill bond would no doubt be double o dead
The theorist channels are so good at making amazing theories on things I don't care about and I love it
@The FiIm Thoerists 🅥 an impersonator on the impersonated channel 😂
@TheFiImThoeriststhey took out his Bone marrow just like Michael Miars
Ahh Film Theory.... where anyone who's alive gets proven dead and anyone dead is proven alive
I just want to say I REALLY appreciate your spoiler warning for John Wick 4. A lot of YT get sloppy with this and I appreciate that you put it right at the beginning! I'll watch JW4 and then eagerly return to this video 😄
John wick dies, o spoiler sorry
@@connorhobbs4258 you better be an 8yr old
This was pretty sloppy honestly since the spoiler came like a second after saying "spoilers". Give us a chance to click off, not everyone is hovering over the pause button
10:50 John Wick just has impossible will power, who said he didn't break his back? He probably did, but just walked away, enduring the pain.
If he broke his back, he wouldn't be able to walk idiot
you can't "walk away" from a broken back, its not a matter of pain tolerance.
He wouldn't be able to, even if a person couldn't feel pain at all. They wouldn't be able to walk if they had a broken back. Since it's the nerves and spinal fluid from the back that control the legs
If your impossible willpower extends to the point of telekinesis, then you can. Like if John is actually his own ghost, animating his body even though it died in Episode 1.
sure, just walk away your paralysis
another instance of john having superpowers is when he just vanishes in the new york terminal. even the other assassin who just did a similar trick was no match and dies instantly. when john vanishes, the lead assassin even admits its a nice trick.
John wick is probably a superhuman
My dad and I picked up on certain scene placements after our first viewing and it may be that the first scene in the film is actually the last chronologically, where he is recovering from the end of the film. Just a cool theory and would explain if he survives.
Maybe Winston just ordered the grave plot to be made before the duel just incase everything didnt go according to plan and both himself and Wick got killed. Earlier in the film Wick asked if he would get those words put on his grave. Winston just ordered to have his wishes carried out before the duel to play it safe if things went south.
Thank You for always here with me in my sorrow and happiness, you will always be treasured and appreciated from the very core of my heart 🥰
I notice that look from the dog. It's like it suddenly looked elsewhere then went back to what it was doing. To the dogs left.
@@mkboi27 but maybe he'll get caught up to old troubles he has when he was still new to the continental if they're making chapter 5
@@justaguy_yt1240 Why will he get caught up tho. He's literally free from the table and has no association with it now.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the final wounds exactly mimicking the doctor's. at least the first two shots weren't meant to do anything serious
I haven't watched movies i just watch all your videos because i like the content but seeing these clips of John falling off buildings and into other things is absolutely hysterical
A comedy crash sound compilation would just suit so well with the clips
8:47 you can’t just compare Joules and Newtons like that, they measure different things. You can only compare the values like that if the stopping force is applied over 1 meter (Energy = Force x Distance).
EDIT:
What should be done is to calculate Keanu's speed and, because the floor deaccelarete it all almost imeadiatly (assuming .2s), that would be your accelaration/5.
@@doodledum553 you have a point.. assuming that he comes full stop in 0.2 s, all of this falls could potentially break his back
NEEEEEERDS
I saw this movie and immediately thought that after the table closed his accounts, he still just faked his death to prevent anyone that still had beef with him from attacking despite the bounty being closed.
Maybe the grave was a metaphor for his assassin life is dead
This is why freerunners or parkour experts will roll out of most drops, that greatly increases the amount of time the momentum takes to dissipate, and lowers the forces involved dramatically
Tl;Dr yes, but not because of how Matpat presents the problem
@Elastic Fantastic lol do you expect less on a Matpat video? I was more surprised there weren't already more comments on that error
Thank you for uploading, my morning was going really bad but I feel better when I watch videos like yours.
