Bad Company is the epitome and the very definition of classic Rock. Paul Rodgers voice is sublime, still is.
Yes, he is so soulful!
Also signed with Led Zeppelin's label Swan Song Records
Yessss! Agreed!
Yes. Later he and Jimmy Page teamed up and formed The Firm, a really good band.
They were much more soul based. Especially when compared to other bands of the "classic rock" era. I'm not a big fan of classic rock, but I love Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, although I don't consider any of them to be "classic rock" bands. I guess in the end, it's all subjective.
Great band and Paul Rodgers had one of the best rock voices of all time.
I just say FREE.
"has"
Paul is still touring and killing it as ever!
Bad Company enjoyed great success throughout the 1970s. Their first three albums, Bad Company (1974), Straight Shooter (1975), and Run with the Pack (1976), reached the top five in the album charts in both the UK and the US. Many of their singles and songs, such as "Bad Company", "Can't Get Enough", "Good Lovin' Gone Bad", "Feel Like Makin' Love", "Ready for Love", "Shooting Star", and "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy", remain staples of classic rock radio. They have sold 20 million RIAA-certified albums in the US and 40 million worldwide.
I wish I could copy and paste like you.
Don't forget Seagull, great tune!
Free album, Heartbreaker. Check that out. it's amazing.
...and Silver Blue and Gold.....Worth mentioning, they also had a decent run in the 80s, headed by Brian Howe. He is not Paul Rodgers, but a great singer....Brian passed away 2 years ago, he also sang on Ted Nugent "Penitrator", it is a great album..I do not believe Bad Company is "under rated", they have gotten their due, they are legends
Also, "SEAGULL", & "THE WAY THAT I CHOOSE".... BOTH OF THESE ARE MY ALL-TIME FAVORITES 🔥🔥🔥😎😎😎🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️❤️
Lead singer Paul Rodgers was one of Freddie Mercury’s favorite singers. After Freddie passed not sure exactly when but he was lead singer for Queen for 5 years. One of my favorite rock vocalist’s. ❤️
Actually it was only 3...2004, 2005, & 2006.
The tours were billed as "Queen + Paul Rodgers".
Robert Plant also said he was a favorite of his.
I never got to see Queen live while Freddie was alive, but I did see Queen with Paul Rodgers and it was amazing. I love his voice.
Did not know this, but it makes a lot of sense. One of the only vocalists who could do Freddie justice.
Interesting; did know know this bit of trivia!
Paul Rodgers is one of the greatest rock vocalists to walk the planet
Bad company is one of the first supergroups. From the band Free, Paul Rodgers (vocals) Simon Kirke (drums) from Mot the Hoople, Mick Ralphs (Guitar) from King Crimson, Boz Burell (bass) killer band, so many great albums!
This was from an era where an album could be listened to all the way through and virtually every song could be a hit. Much love Brad & Lex, thanks for the great reactions and have a great weekend! ✌️ ☮️ 🎸🎵🎶🎼🇱🇷
Bad Company was the first band to be signed to Led Zeppelin's Swan Song record label after Paul Rodgers convinced Peter Grant (Led Zeppelins executive producer) to listen to them audition...saw them many times growing up in So-Cal and still a fan.
I'd say Bad Company is classic rock, not in the sense of being "old" rock, but of being right there in the breadbasket ... an epitome of rock. So yes, blues influence, soulful singing, electric guitars.
Love the drums in this tune, they're so strong and crisp!
Yes! The ride is so crisp and upfront. Love this.
One of, imo, the 3 best drummers ever!
Yeah this whole record. The drums on 'Movin' On' are my favorite.
Good catch about the drums. I had not thought about it before, but the drumming is restrained and crisp, matching the slow funk of the bass line.
Of course it is. They are in Swan Song Studios!
not underrated. they are huge and had one of the best vocalist in the game. this is straight rock.
Don’t need to put a finger on the sound or style, is a great tune and sang greatly, just enjoy it, it’s classic rock it’s all it matters!
Well said. Nailed it exactly!
Yeah, but for Brad, it's all about pigeonholing through brutal analysis. The lyrics are all that matters to him, neither the music, nor the musicians.
All these reactors get so hung up about "genres". We just used to enjoy the music and not worry about it
@@parshakamarsh : I simply wish they would pronounce "genre" correctly.
It’s a rock ballad, just a great voice
Yes! Now that is some good classic rock! Bad Company has some great, timeless songs. Have you done FEEL LIKE MAKIN' LOVE.?? SHOOTING STAR??
Listened to Bad Company a lot back in the late 80ies. A couple great songs from the Album 10 from 6 is " Can't get enough" " Feel like makin' Love" and " Bad Company" from another album.
10 From 6 is one of my GOATs.
They were highly rated in the 80's. For me I spent my entire freshman year playing their album 10 from 6 on cassette tape over and over. Such a great voice and band. Check Out Can't Get Enough, Feel Like Making Love, Rock N Roll Fantasy.
💯 - The very same here on the 10 from 6 reference!
Their songs did get a lot of airplay back in the 70's but were known as an album band because they did not release many singles but you are correct in that they are not mentioned very often when talking about the top bands of all time.
LOL No. They released dozens of singles.
It’s a disgrace too! Love them!
I don't remember seeing their big hits on "45's" maybe just a couple of them.
"GONE,GONE GONE"!! or "SILVER, BLUE GOLD"
They were masters of overlaying a blues feel over a subtle rock beat. You fell the rock in the background with a dirty guitar and subtle strong base, then they hit you with blues sounding vocals and that perfectly timed organ…. Just a masterpiece.
Bad Company guitarist wrote this song as a member of Mott the Hoople their version of "Ready for Love" is awesome you guys should definitely check it out,🤘😎🤘
I saw Mott twice, once each with Queen and Aerosmith opening!
Hopple?
@@magna116 Hoople.
Hell im 62 years old been listening to Bad Company all my listening year's. I know Mott the Hoople but I never knew this fact. THANKS. ☠️😳😎🤔🤪🌴🐊🌞☮️🇺🇲 Hello from Orlando, Florida.
@@brianfranklinlee8490 Yes indeed, first time was in West Hartford CT and Aerosmith opened just as their 1st album was being released
Next year in Waterbury saw Queen open on their first N American tour. We knew immediately both bands would be big, and maybe out right supetstars. We were right, saw both multiple times after. Best of times!
Seen them in concert in 2001 in Reno Nevada on my 40th Birthday, along with STYX and Billy Squire 🤘😁🤘🇺🇸
LUV THEM STILL TO THIS DAY!!! 80's ROCK!!!
You guys have to do “Good Lovin Gone Bad” by Bad Company! 🎺💣🥁🧨🎸👍
Absolutely!
Suggested it in live stream and nobody took the bait.. Will keep trying. Well worth it..
One of the best Bad Co songs imho. What a riff! The vocals! Rhythm section! YEAH!
Blues rock , classic rock, both work Brad.
They're one of my favorite bands (in their early years). Always laying down a heavy groove, no matter the tempo. Straight ahead rock, not trying to be epic, not trying to be badass, not trying to be anything. Just a rock and roll outfit letting the song do the talking.
You guys should react to more Bad Company…
"Can't Get Enough", "Good Lovin' Gone Bad", "Movin' On", "Silver, Blue & Gold", "Burnin' Sky", "Young Blood", "Rock Steady", "Live for the Music", "The Way I Choose", "Gone, Gone, Gone", "Honey Child", "Weep No More", "She Brings Me Love", "Wild Fire Woman", "Deal With the Preacher", "Easy on My Soul"
🎸🤘
I went to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert, bc I love them. Not knowing that Bad Company was their warm up band, & I could have left happy after hearing Bad Company live, but then got the bonus of Lynyrd Skynyrd afterwards, was one of the best days of my life !!🎶🎸🎵🥁🎼🎤😊
Yes!!! Finally a reactor got to the studio version of this song. Completely in my wheelhouse with this one. Try "Rock Steady", "Take The Time", or "Heartbeat". For more of the vocalist here Paul Rodgers in other contexts, try the Firm's "Money Can't Buy" of Free's "Woman", to name just a few.
Lex: "Like a slow burning cigarette." Full credit for that analogy.
I have always loved this song👍
You gotta love Lex's descriptions. The song is like a cigarette a slow burn. That's perfect.
Smooth Soul Groove Rock. Love this tune. Probably my first Bad Company tune I ever heard and have loved it forever.
Walkin' down this rocky road wonderin' were my life is leading, rollin' on to the bitter end..
Saw Paul Rogers about 4 or 5 yrs ago with the rest of Bad Company on their 40th anniversary tour. Paul sounds as great as ever. Definitely one of the best classic 70s groups that found their own corner of that genre. Great stuff and nice memories for me. Nice reaction by Lex as usual.
Damn... what memories.. Bad Company, Foghat, Foreigner.... There was such a unique sound around this time... Cruisin in my muscle car... Awesome. Great reaction.
this song and rock steady is probably my favorite from them. classic! timeless....
This group was the first band signed on Led Zeppelin’s record label “Swan Song “. Also won Best New Artist Grammy Award for 1975 for this first album in 1974. They were considered a supergroup because of coming from the groups Free and Mott the Hoople.
This gave me chills 😎
Goosebumps! But also relaxing.
One of the few rock songs out there that had a piano solo, instead of guitar. I could listen to Paul Rodgers sing the dang phone book, just an amazing singer.
Definitely not underrated, one of my favorite bands of all time
I first heard this in the early 70's. Mott the Hoople. "All the Young Dudes" Album. I believe this version...Bad Company was more popular...definitely in the States. Maybe not across the pond in England. Bad Company is just basic rock. The term classic rock did not exist in the 70's. It was just rock. And still is.
Masterful recording. You can clearly hear the ride cymbal. Organ and piano mixed beautifully.
''Slow burner''......Lex nailed it but Brad was spot-on as well! Great reaction y'all!
Highly rated. Like Foreigner. Elvis Costello. Bob Dylan. Beatles. Stones. Sly stone. Byrds. Hollies. Eagles. CSN, CCR, Graham Parker, Nick Lowe, John Prine, Tim Hardin. And everyone else, all great. Forever.
I was lucky enough to see the awesome band way back in the 70's the first time (I was born in the 50's), then again in the early 2000's and then they opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2016 or 2018 (I saw 'em both times). Paul Rodgers is just too smooth and they sounded so great each time I was lucky enough to enjoy them. The first time was Cobo Hall in Detroit, the weed was all over the place, good times. LOL
The last time I was stuck in my wheelchair but the "handicap section" was really a great location and it was at the Virginia Beach Ampitheater.
Brings me back to the 70s
Mick Ralphs ( of Bad Company )wrote and recorded this song when he was with his previous group "Mott the Hoople". BTW, i saw Free and Mott the Hoople at the Liverpool Stadium, UK in Sept 1970!
Rock And Roll Fantasy, another hit song from Bad Company....
Paul Rodgers voice is like a slow burning cigar, washed down with a smooth bourbon, no ice. Nice Lex!
She hears it. He did a stint with the queen. Love this rock
I had a minor accident earlier today and need bed rest. I have to say... I'm happy to relax and watch all your wonderful reactions. Plus, this is the music I grew up with. Every song reminds me of a certain place and time - so fond in my memories! ✨️⭐️✨️
Thank you for all the joy you bring to me and so many! You two are simply awesome. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
💜💫✌🏼🎵
It's been about 4 years since i discovered this genre called "music reactions" - honestly - before then - I didn't even know the genre existed. And the first time i watched one - i thought the guy had invented the entire genre. And then a year ago I stumbled onto your platform - and i LOVE IT. You're my favorite. And I love that you are focusing your experience on popular ( and some not-so-popular) music of the 70s / 80s / 90s timeline. Those are the 3 decades I love the most. I lived it ! And there are certain songs that i'm genuinely excited for you to react to because i think they somehow "capture" the mood or emotion of that particular time. And so Brad & Lex - you have to remember - that teenagers growing up in the 70s were the first generation that had a more "relaxed" attitude to pre-marital sex. I know that seems laughable to young people - but the 60's generation were the first that were out in the open about it. They fought the heavy battle of changing cultural norms. Before that - teenagers had to hide it. But by the time i was growing up - sex before marriage was already considered not-that-big-a-deal. And so - to me - this song captures that mindset - of two young lovers - no longer burdened by social stigmas or cultural shame - and they are ready to experience sex together - with all the anticipation and fear that only young people can feel about sex. A great song that gives you both a glimpse of growing up in the 70's. Thanks for your reaction.
"Smokey" is what I always think of when I hear this song ...This band is one of the BEST!
Upon it's creation, Bad Company was the first musical artist Peter Grant (the Manager of Led Zeppelin) signed to Led Zeppelin's new record label, Swan Song Records. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Grant many years ago, and contrary to popular belief, he was a true gentleman and he had many great stories of Led Zeppelin and Bad Company.
Bad Company belongs in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Classic Rock at it’s finest.
Bluesy rock.. all they way.. What a soulful voice Paul Rodgers has.. even to this day. Amazing singer.
Back in the day this was just rock. Now it’s classic rock. Great music to just sit, relax and drink a whiskey drink.
Lex, " Slow burning like a cigar " Hey....I'm going wit dat😄
This song was written by Mick Ralphs of Mott the Hoople who recorded it first. Ralphs left Mott and joined up with Bad Company and they put it on their 1st album which hit all the charts in the US and UK. Paul Rogers' album a tribute to Muddy Waters is excellent!
They were huge back in the day with so many big hits!
Lotta great memories in this song.
I agree with Lex, Bad Company doesn’t get its do…I was a freshman in high school when they released their first album (1973). I really enjoyed it, along with several of my peers of the day.
The thing is, there was soooo much great music happening at the time (Zeppelin, the Stones, Doobie Brothers, Santana, Grand Funk, the Eagles, Elton John, etc…)
I think they got lost in the shuffle…?
Abslutely, correct again Lex. Don't forget to react to, GONE, GONE, GONE. Bad Company is one of the best classic rock bands EVER !!!
I played that song for a guy going through a divorce.
"Slow burn"......yassssss.
Paul Rodgers....male vocalist of the year at one point. He's a very intense guy with an equally intense voice. Silky smooth, yet raw and nasty....very sensual.
Great song and love listening to them on long road trips
When this was new. We didn’t care about labels, genres. Was it good? That is the question. When you can sing like this, then you can criticize. Try it, record it. No joke. Really.
Paul Rogers started off in the Band "FREE" which was very successful in the late 60's that is where you here piano from.
Bad Co is rock.
Bad Company should be in the R & R Hall of Fame!
There's an amazing live version of this recorded in 2010 at Wembley. Definitely worth checking out.
Yes, this song is amazing live, also try it at the Hard Rock Live, just as good as Wembly. They always do a cool jam at the end, such amazing musicians.
One of my favorites from the way back.
Mott the Hoople was the original band behind this song. I have it on cd and really love their sound. 💕
Bad Company was the first rock concert I ever went to back in 1979. Great show.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy, Good Lovin’ Gone Bad, Can’t Get Enough, Run with the Pack.
Paul Rodgers is just a bad ass. We saw Bad Co a couple of years ago and they killed. 😎
🤘 🤘 We were blessed to see all these great bands!
Zeppelin signed them to Swan Song label in 70's . Pagey and Rodgers formed the band THE FIRM. Check out some jams from that group.
Just a nice tune really. Not much else to say but Paul Rodgers voice is one of the best for sure.Bad Co. was a pretty big name band particularly thru the 1970's !!
One of the greatest voices in rock history. A phenomenal song too!
Big Fan. In my phone now, love playing during workout.
Photo of Bad Company/Strait Shooter 8-track playing in a car radio is in my '75 yearbook.
Cruising in my 69' Chevelle , passing by my high school as everyone is changing classes , I m heading to the beach listening to Bad Co.
It's blues rock with a lot of soul! Paul Rodgers is a total legend and considered so by his peers. The number of vocalists who cite him as a major influence or as their fave singer is huge.
Cheers!
Saw Bad Company open for Allman Brothers in early 90s,was an INSTANT FAN😎,Went there 4 the Brothers left a BC fan!!🤩
"...a slow burner...." 🥰👍🏻 Bad Company brought such a sultry, sexy vibe. Woo. 😅 I'm also reminded of that particular animated movie...
Have you reacted to their tune "Movin' On?" It's truly one of their best fun songs! They were a super group in the 70's. Paul Rodgers was one of the best blues rock singer in rock, period.
You guys are growing so much through this experience.
I had all the albums on 8-track! Then cassette…wore them all out. Rogers’ voice is amazing and every band member is superb. Listen to each instrument individually and you will hear it. One of my favorite bands.
Exactly right, bad company, wingman for 70s rock
Their song 'Bad Company' is amazing! They had a lot of big songs.
Bad Company is one of the most highly rated bands in the 1970's. Classic Rock.
When I look back to me and my group of friends hanging out partying in the 80’s, Bad Co. and Boston come to mind the most for what we listened to. Movin’ On and Silver Blue & Gold would be a couple songs to check out!
For those of us who lost spouses early, this song hits like a nuclear explosion. Several years ago I heard this song - which I had entirely forgotten - after I was (finally) embarking on a serious new relationship about a decade after my first wife "passed" (I hate that word, but, RUclips). I couldn't believe how hard I, at age 40, had fallen for someone who liked me back, but hey I guess I was "ready for love". The music seemed far more haunting than I remembered as a kid/teen, and the lyrics perfectly fit. I know it's not a masterpiece, but I'll always love it, probably more than it deserves, for personal reasons.
So many great songs from Paul Rogers and bad company
Brings back memories of raking leaves in the Fall ................
one of the great rock ballads. you can feel the emotion coming from Paul Rodgers.
You are right! Underrated. Definitely not underground.
Paul Rodgers has a subtle but powerful voice. Very soulful tone. Like Bob Seger, or Greg Allman, can go from mellow to strong effortlessly. And always in control.
In the '70s Bad Company was a very popular band. And still, along with Free and Rodgers other projects, one of my favorites.
Paul Rogers in Free was awesome also it was the band before he formed Bad Co.
Blues Rock for sure,Lex nailed it!
Rock ballad I would consider it. Very intense vocals. Smooth and gritty.
