Bad Company is a western in song form and was intended to be the band's theme song. Various members have claimed the band's name was inspired by a western called Bad Company and the song was inspired by another western called High Plains Drifter starring Clint Eastwood.
I always laugh watching a reaction to a lyric video. Back in the day if we wanted the lyrics to a song, we had to keep playing each part over and over until we got it all written down. And if you came across something you weren't sure you kept listening to it until you figured it out.
And make fun of each other over lyrics sang wrong. Lol.. more than a few times playing in bars when we just couldn't find them we'd sing what we thought and just muffled enough nobody could nail us to it.

I love it when the drum hits and the bass kicks in with the chorus, first time around. For me, it's the best part of the song, as there's been a quiet build up, and then suddenly, bam! :)
Just to add, Paul Rogers toured with Queen as guest vocalist for a while after Freddie died and he did a fantastic job of covering their previous classics. Freddie would have been so proud, I'm sure.

This was my first concert in 1978. To see the drum stage rise out of the stage. That is the first time that I had ever seen a LASER. They were all green back then. It was amazing.
I don't have any source for this but I always got this impression this song was about gunfighers in the old west. The piano always gave me the old western saloon vibes, and he talks about "6 gun" or 6 shooter, living by the gun, small towns knowing their name. Just gives me that Clint Eastwood western vibe.
I was about 15 and I had a Bad Company t shirt. My Dad looked at me and said “Son, I wouldn’t advertise”. Lol I love this band as much now as I did then!
When to see a Freddie King concert at the Starwood in Hollywood and Paul Rodger (Bad Company), Joe Cocker and Patti LaBelle got on stage with Freddie - Hey, it was a Jazz/Blues credit for me, so thank-you Gerald Wilson:)

55 now n still a favorite all time band.
I love Lex's descriptions of what she is envisioning.
