I was lucky enough that my parents had kept the box the camera came in (it's MANY years old) and I managed to install the original software through a CD, then updating it through the linked site. And everything worked seamlessly! THANKS A LOT
For anyone trying to add cinestyle to a Canon 80D, make sure that you have your camera set to photo mode. The camera will not let you add Cinestyle if the camera is set to video mode. Thanks for the tutorial Connor!
Looked at your channel, listened to this video, seeing how you give in-depth tutorials I’m thinking you’re another one of these guys with 300K... but I was surprised when I looked at your count because your very refined as a RUclipsr and description giver. Got my sub. Thanks for the info.
Great tip! Thank you very much for doing this, you just helped me fall in love with my t3i again instead of declaring it useless. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Thanks so much man! That's really kind of you, I appreciate it. I'm just using a Rode VideoMic Pro, but rather than mounting it on camera it's mounted just out of frame, above my head on a boom pole pointed at my mouth.
thaaanks bro! You helped me out. Your videos are really really nice! I now wanted to subscribe and I saw your subscribers... just 5000!!! Your VERY underrated!
Thanks for the info! Just installed it on my EOS Rebel T3i. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Using Davinci Resolve for my editing software and was needing a LOG profile so I can make my videos look better.
I'd rewatch from 3:17 onward and double check your steps. Remember, there's a couple extra steps to access the profile in video mode instead of photo mode so make sure those weren't skipped.
As I said in the video you have to make sure you're on Manual mode. If yours didn't work in manual mode but only photo mode then it may be different for some models. :)
@@ConnorGilks instead of downloading Cinestyle like in the video could you just manually change the picture style or does downloading it have other properties you can't do straight on your camera?
Thank you! You can use both, and I recommend you do! Magic Lantern is fantastic and I'm very impressed with the features it can add to even the most limited of Canon DSLR's. My favourites were the focus assist options (like focus peaking) and the ability to automate a focus pull. Killer software!
Sweet Lou Photography magic lantern and cinestyle are two separate things, ML adds more functionality such as wave forms, zebras and focus peaking. Cinestyle is a picture style or color profile for you to shoot in,using both will enhance the functionality of your DSLR shooting experience.

Thanks so much, I actually thought doing the same settings on 'neutral' (eg zero contrast etc) would produce the same results but just realise cinestyle is even flatter! Wish I knew this years ago. lol oh well. Thanks again!

Great video and tip! I have a Canon EOS 700D and I seem to be missing "Picture style" in my settings. Is it still possible for me to get a log profile quality?
Interesting, I'm not too familiar with the 700D but I know that here it's known as the T5i, which definitely does have PS. Maybe see if there's a firmware update for your camera available?
Hi! Thanks for the video. I have a question. When I shoot in flat, my blacks reach pretty much down to almost zero mV. it’s not higher up and grey, but pretty much black. What do I do wrong?
Have you tried adjusting your exposure to be brighter? Also, keep in mind this is NOT C-Log, so direct comparisons to C-Log footage/exposure readings etc. may not be helpful to you.
Thanks for the great video. I just bought my first DSLR - a Canon T5i - and am getting it all set up. I understand what you are saying here, but the question I have is if picture styles work with post production software other than Canon. I have my camera set up for raw and will set up a user defined picture profile for video similar to what you set up. I use Corel Photo Shop Pro for stills and Cyberlink PowerDirector and DaVinci Resolve 14 for video. I thought I heard somewhere that you have to use Canon's software in order to the picture style's to be recognized. Can you clear this up for me? Thanks!
The picture style is not software-specific. Once it's installed on your camera and you take a video/photo you can open and process that file with any software, you only need Canon's software to actually install the profile on your camera. However, if you're shooting RAW photos then picture styles don't apply at all. Picture styles are only applied to non-RAW formats such as JPEG or video files.

Hey Connor, I got a question: Why don't we just change the Contrast, Sharpness, Color Tone and Saturation from the User Def. on our camera to those numbers you shown? Does the CineStyle make extra adjustments?
Great question man. CineStyle is not the same as simply tweaking all of those adjustments. If you compare them side-by-side (there are comparisons all over online) you'll see they aren't the same. This doesn't mean CineStyle is better necessarily, just different. It's worth trying everything and seeing what works best for you!

Do you ever have to change the picture style when you shoot raw images? Or does it only affect video?
RAW images completely ignore what your picture style is set to, it bypasses that setting entirely.
