I saw a doctor right away when I first got my drop foot in April 2019, but I got no treatment at all here in Australia, just lots of tests with still no idea of the cause. Also, I have a 'double-whammy' because my varicose veins started getting worse after the drop foot came on. After wearing compression stockings I began to get "superficial clots" (I stopped wearing them because a new varicose vein developed on the inside of my knee so the top of the compression stocking was pressing into it), and finally I was rushed to hospital on 24 December 2019 with a metre-long clot in my leg. They took out my whole saphenous vein on Boxing Day. My drop foot had improved somewhat before the clots got bad after trying 3 different acupuncturists. Each acupuncturist achieved longer-lasting results than the one before. Just as the bruising from the removal of my saphenous vein is almost gone, the drop foot is not the worst it has ever been (causing me to fall). I was a hard core hiker right up until my drop foot came on. I can't remember any injury that may have caused it...unless a suspected broken little toe could do that?

Sorry about your brother. Icing the knee didn't cause drop foot or make it worse. If he injured his knee he may have injured the peroneal nerve which helps in lifting the foot. Hopefully there will be some improvement that will naturally occur over the next few months. In the meantime, the Elevate Drop Foot Brace can keep him playing.

    hi Chris,
I met with an accident on 31st January 2019 which caused knee dislocation (ACL and LCL injury) but common paroneal nerve was intact . After 3-4 months of wait on 15th May 2019 triple nerve grafting was performed . It's been 4 months now since nerve surgery but it has not improved even a single bit. In stead my ankles are getting stiff. Can you please guide me , what should I do now?

    hi,
my daughter had a drop foot course by injection administration we have been treating her her physiotherapist was saying given the right time she will be in good condition but it's been two(2)years now and we are still having little or no result.
her foot not only drop but also tilt to outward.
can the brace be of help or if there's other method that will make her whole again.
    thanks
    Francis

    • @jordanc.hughes
      @jordanc.hughes 9 лет назад

      francis lawyer
      Hi Francis,
Your daughter's peroneal nerve (that signals muscle to lift the foot) was likely damaged. I am sorry that at this point (two years) it is unlikely that you will notice any further improvement. Bracing allows the foot to clear the ground without having to trip or move the hip up to swing the leg through. The Elevate Drop Foot Brace can help your daughter by lifting her foot so that her walking/running is pretty much as it was before...and depending on how you attach the brace to her shoe, the brace can also help bring the tilt of her foot back inward. Sorry she is having this issue.

    Hi Doctor,
    Am Krishna from India,
I met with an accident a year back.
I got a left tibia fractured....
Doctor's used some screws to help my fracture to heal...
After one day of surjery ...I found that am unable to lift my foot up.
After 2 months , they removed the inserted screws .
but that did not help me out.
Nerve tests shows my sensory nerves are good but not motor nerves.
Doctor's said it takes few months to year for recovery.
If not ,tendon transform will be done for me.
    pls help me.

Hi around 1980 when i was a heroin addict, i had hit up at a friends place, i do not know how long i was out, when i came too, still sitting on floor, my left foot i could not lift, it was diagnosed as drop foot, many weeks later after exercise it came good and i was able to walk again okay, now i am 68 years old, and after a bad fall on my left knee no damage to menicus , just bruised the bone, i have this sharp pain, radiating down my left leg from the hip down to the foot, when it gets to the foot, it is like 5 rivers running along my foot. this especially gives me trouble when i lay down at night? i would appreciate any thoughts and would there or could there be a connection to this old injury? Thanks

Melissa Watson The reason it is good to find a way to keep your foot lifted when you have drop foot is to 1. prevent tripping and 2. to avoid structural problems from having to change how you walk to clear the floor. The other thing to consider for some people is keeping the muscles stretched to avoid more and more downward tightening.

Hi Pamela, I am so sorry about your daughter's condition. It may the case that her perennial nerve was damaged or compromised. If there is not improvement, she may be best served by a brace. We recommend the Elevate Drop Foot Brace by FootScientific - it can be used with different shoes, is comfortable, fairly discrete, etc. All the best....Chris

    • @pdiaz2270

You were correct. It was nerve damage. Got her a brace and had her on a cycle of vitamins. She's all better now. She has full mobility! We were both frightened about her future but luckily she's back to normal and happy that she'll be able to dance again. ;)

One answer for the pain. Kratom. Trust me. It works better than any pain medicine I ever took. It's relatively new to the U.S. In fact it is so effective BiG Pharma is lobbying the FDA to make it a schedule I drug which you would need a prescription for. It is beginning to hurt the profits in the drug companies with is why they want it regulated like a drug and so they can put a Patten on it. So far it is still legal in all but 'or 8 or 9 states. I suggest you research it before you decide. If you do let me know and I can give you several excellent vendors where to buy it. There are thousands but I stick with 2 or 3 that are very reputable. It is a Godsend for me. I suggest you first learn about it from the Americankratomassociation.com
