I've been searching for someone like you for all my training videos. Most talk to much. Your awesome. You give me the facts I need in a clear concise manner! Love it.
I wasn't thorough in taking the time to go through all of your instructions and even after watching your video twice (thrice if you include me following along on my first effort) I didn't realize the ability to keep the mat loaded was no longer there. Despite having to reload the mat my job didn't come out too far off (it was a bit forgiving thank goodness due to my design placement). I will definitely use the link you provided to let Cricut know us engravers would love to keep that option!! I will also try the sensor jig as I have 19 more blanks to engrave even though I read about it being buggy recently. I am a long time follower and a first time engraver (using your methods) and am so glad after years that I decided to really use my Maker to its utmost! Thank you for your AMAZING tutorials, you are definitely CLEVER!!
Love this!! Thank you so much for explaining all of this in a precise and easy to follow way. Thank you also for taking the time to show all of us how to do this and other things.
Bug duly reported to Cricut for the loss of DISMISS mat unloading functionality. Keep up the good work! There are many use for this, including making stickers (kiss cut + full cut pass) or multi-level engraving.
you should call yourself CleverLady. I love your no nonsense and super concise and clearly produced videos. I'm guessing this font will work for drawing too. thanks
You're the best for various Cricut tutorials! I've been having a really tough time with an acrylic blank that is a circle with a rectangle at the bottom because it slides inside a round light base. I finally had to use the pen feature to draw it right on the mat but it WAS a millimeter or 2 off.
Kay, you are absolutely the BEST! You are the answer to all my Cricut prayers, thank you so much, your videos are so to the point and extremely helpful!
I just found your channel and am so happy I did🤗🤗🤗. I am learning a lot!!!! I have problems retaining information but I can now just return to your tutorial to follow 😜🤗🤗
Wow - this is awesome. I used your template for "filling in" text for engraving, and that was wonderful. But I had trouble getting my blank in the precise spot on the mat for engraving - this is the answer I was looking for. Thank you for teaching us this in such a clear way. I have subscribed, and am off to watch more of your videos.
Finally did this video on a bracelet but was super disappointed when my cricut still ejected my mat after going from basic to engraving. I didn't take my mat out but gosh was hoping it would stay! I hope it ends out ok. Thank you for all your amazing videos!
SHOW MORE is the text below the description on RUclips that expands the description. So once you have done that, there is no more show more. Sorry is so confusing.
I was so excited when I got directed to your video. Unfortunately they seem to have gone back to their errant ways. I'm in design space 7.32.125 and when the "template" cut is finished my only option is to hit "done" which promptly unloads the mat
Acrylic 2mm, as noted around the 8:12 mark in the video. However, I have found that the setting is not as important as using the proper design and using multiple passes as needed.
Watching this video and following instructions to do the temporary jig, did you know that Design space version 7.22.149 is making me unload the mat. There is no longer a dismiss message at the top when you finish cutting the jig. Help!!! Sorry didn't read the new message, my bad.
I am interested in the acrylic rectangle blanks you used in the video. The link to buy the blanks is not working. Where did you purchse them? Thank you!
The link is working for me now, but here's a more specific link (Craft Chameleon aff link) www.craftchameleon.com/collections/csd/products/csd-blank-acrylic-shapes?ref=13&variant=29693776068711
Help please! I have a problem with getting the 2nd mat to cut because I do not have a "dismiss" on my screen. So, when I press cancel and then yes, the mat unloads from my machine. I have a Cricut Maker and in Design Space current version of 7.18.105
Thank you. I was able to make the jig buttttt my maker 3 and cricut design didn't show me the green line above and i only could unload the mat (i did lost some terms at that moment)
The carbide tip should be very durable but we don't have the history yet to know exactly what the life is. The engraving tip has been out about 2 years and the vast majority of us are still on our first one.
Thanks again Kay, I have another 3 questions plz (sorry!), can you plz confirm what you said in minute (11:43 till 11:55)? I understood that as long as i didn't unload the mat, I can keep engraving the same design on another blank with the same size over and over.. so what about different design (different word/drawing), can i go back to canvas on DS and select another design/text ? sorry didn't understand this part correctly My 2nd question, if we select to draw (without putting a pen) instead of cutting for the dummy dot in the left corner, does that work the same as well? did engraving the dot over and over affect the mat? My 3rd question, if we make the whole project in 1 mat, without a temporary jig first by using air drawing, will that work? so let's say i have a round acrylic, so I draw circle on canvas ( same size like the acrylic) and place it in the middle of the canvas at the + or at the very top left corner with 1 square up and 1 square on the side. And type the text or place the design aligned in the centre of the circle. Then we press make it, not to place a drawing pen- and the machine draw on the air the circle surrounding the blank , then engrave in the middle of the blank. will this be accurate? or the machine will not engrave in the center of the blank? sorry again for the long question! I love watching your videos and learning from you
I don't have a simple way to answer your first question beyond saying yes. As long as you use the same relative position of target shape and dummy shape to position a design, that gives you the same frame of reference, whether it is the same design, a different design in the same file or a different design in a different file. But of course that takes more concentration. As for your second question, yes, you can set the dummy shape to pen (with or without a pen) if you want to protect the mat. Using engrave is simpler, but does affect the mat in the very corner, so its a tradeoff. Third question. The "air draw" method you are describing is a very common one that is only accurate within 3mm (per Cricut's latest published information), because it does not account for mat loading tolerances. A jig, on the other hand, is accurate to a half mm or less depending on the fit of your blank in the slot. So you want to choose the level of effort that is appropriate for the accuracy you need. I have tutorials linked for lots of methods, along with pros and cons of each in the Guides section of my FB group.

I'm working on my first engraving using your video. Everything has gone good until I got to the portion of making the jig, Cut perfectly but when I hit dismiss...cancel...and yes. The mat unloaded, your video shows it is not supposed to do that. Any suggestions on what I might be doing incorrectly? Thank you
@@cleversomeday Followed all of those instructions to the tee I believe and of course it unloaded again. So because I am impatient I decided to just load back and and try and see if it will line up. But now it only gives me two material choices and not acrylic 2mm. I keep seeing these beautiful projects that seem to work for others. Now...honestly I'm not sure how to process. Any suggestions. Went back to layer panel and closed the eye on attach/basic cut hoping it would let me pick acrylic but no luck. Not sure why it will not let me engrave if I choice the engrave panel to process.
@@debibrening Please post your question in the Cricut Engraving with CleverSomeday Facebook group where it is easier to troubleshoot. For those who might come across this post later, if you are not getting the option to use acrylic, then you have not gotten all the items on the mat set to Engrave.
