Manual target camera systems can be taxing, especially when shooting far distances. Over the years, the Ultimate Reloader team has used a variety of target camera systems to capture targets under fire, and provide immediate feedback without leaving the firing line. Today, we add the Caldwell Ballistic Precision LR Target Camera System to the mix.

I loved my Caldwell target camera and I used it on our 1,000 yd. range and to get instant feedback on hits to make windage adjustments was awesome. My son used it once at a mile without any problems.
I have since purchased the Longshot LR-3 and it's definitely superior, but at twice the price.
A person can't go wrong with either target camera.

I’ve got the Longshot LR-3 system and it’s proven it’s worth over the last year. No more guessing where I hit paper at distance and really helps to speed up my testing. I don’t get to go to the range nearly as often as I’d like and the camera system helps maximize the time I do get. It’s much more compact than this system, I’d recommend checking it out.

I have 2 SME Bullseye cameras. Love them. They even talk to me when I ask it to. It will tell me how much to click my turrets to get onto the bullseye. Very cool system. However I've been looking at a shot marker system.

I own it and like it a lot. They need to update the app so it works with the newer phones. Luckily it works with my tablet which has a bigger screen. No need for the receiver at closer distances. Sighting in and zeroing a rifle at 100 yards is easy and no need to set up both the receiver and transmitter.
Tripods are a little cheap and camera clamp arm is getting a little week.

I’d like to see a more in depth review of the software. Things like does it mark the shots for you or do you have to manually mark them like the bullseye camera. Setting up the target initially, measuring group size, etc.
Like others said I am considering the shot marker. It’s definitely more expensive but the software is far better than bullseye.

Got one an really like it, had a issue trying to get it to turn on, had to close the router that is in my home but after that works perfect and goes on as soon as I hit connect, Wish you would do a video on using the measuring feature , can't figure out how to set up the measuring grid, and when I hit the screen to place my + on the I pad it moves every time I choose a new location. How do I set it up. The very best part is to be able to see .22-250 holes at 300 yds. and 400 yds, those holes are so tinny. No worries now, use it at 100 yds. an out. Gavin do another video if you would please. 👍👍👍👍

Gavin, I have the Caldwell cam also, picked up last summer and worked great. Turned it on Friday and won't connect to my phone, well after 5 hours of monkeying around with it , finally. One Q for you is when I pull the app up and see my target, or what ever I'm looking at, it seems that you can enlarge the pic, but only with your fingers like a reg. photo. How do I access all the other things they show on the manual, I do understand the measurement system item on the known size of a grid to measure shots, but I thought I read you can adjust the pan to align the target? Maybe only manual at the transmitter with you phone on to see the target. Do another short video on connections if you could ,know your busy. Always great info, I do like this system a ton. 👍👍👍👍

Thanks for this review. I’ve been considering one. (*haven’t watched full vid yet) As a photographer for many years I can tell you right now what a weakness of this system will be…that “gorilla pod” flexy arm that attaches to the camera. Those things wear out very quickly under consistent and heavy use. Hopefully Caldwell has replacements available. Obviously these are made for flat square ranges…tripods don’t have adjustable legs for leveling on uneven terrain.

@@ryanthomas2374 👍 not that a guy couldn’t just get a couple different tripods, but that “gorilla pod” arm just goes to show that Caldwell hasn’t really used that product. …and also that they never really do anything outside of a flat square range. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So, correct me if I am wrong, and I am sure you fine folks on the net will!!! This seems like the best system because it has the 1 mile ... (or 1.3 as i saw in this video) but, also, it looks like the camera connects to the transmitter via cat 5 cable! That means you can put the transmitter farther away from the target and have less risk of shooting it, as well as less risk of slag/debris etc. affecting the transmitter at least. How many normal shooters out there are shooting even 1 mile ? I wish I were but I doubt most people are pushing 100 yrds.

As others have said . LabRadar 3 mile long range camera should be on the table . Then a comparison would / should be appropriate . Is Caldwell lr camera system just rebranded from the shorter range LabRadar TargetVision model . Not trying to knock the Caldwell product . But am surprised that you avoided putting its competitor’s long track record in the obvious conversation . Competition in every facet of the shooting world is always beneficial for the consumer .

I'm now gotten one foot in the house of 70. My wife says I'm behind on technology. Ok so is time for me to catch up. She says tec. Will save me time and I won't have to work as hard. I agree even tho she was talking about banking and bill paying. I would like to use a old android tablet as my viewer if possible cam not to much wide angle or preferably adjustable.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING ELECTRICAL FROM CALDWELL…
    THIS IS WHY
I want to let you know that both products on the web and in reviews was stellar. That I decided to purchase Ballistic Precision G2 Chronograph along with Ballistic Precision LR Target camera system. That total $259.99 and $474.99, a little more than $700 which was not so bad for the items I was buying. I was excited to plan a day of target shooting in the desert. This was a big deal since I had no spotter when shooting by myself. After shooting, walk down range to view my hits, then returning to the original shooting position. His is not so bad when your target is 50 yards, but when downrange is over 100 yards and more, time at the bench becomes less enjoyable.
Ballistic Precision G2 Chronograph proved to have a definite impact in my system at first. Well, it only took four instances’ before having that fail. Of course, I did everything to get it working but it was pointless. I called Caldwell, spoke to a representative, sent a new unit to me and said keep the old one as parts. That was significant at that time but low-and be hold the next time out the Ballistic Precision LR Target camera system went on the fritz.
Again, resorting to all the things that could be wrong, and trust me, I spent hours trying the resolve the problems, but the camera system refused the be operatable.
Now, my last dish effort to get an item that works like advertised from Caldwell. One that last longer than a year, and you can count-on.
I will be putting this review in as many places that I see on the web.
Furthermore, in kind, I will post the outcome resolve in the same location.
    Very Truly
