    I remember seeing this beauty in the newspaper - I was only 16 but I immediately fell in love with the ‘56 like no other car. To this day I believe the ‘56 Lincoln is one of the most beautiful auto designs ever.

    I recall being at my grandparents house in 1956 in OKC - my grandfather had a 1956 Mercury Montclair Phaeton we went downtown to the Fred Jones Lincoln Mercury dealership for an oil change - this is where I first saw the '56 Premieres OMG what a beautiful car - IMHO they have never been surpassed. Thank you for this video.

    Absolutely my favorite car of that decade. The 57 was startling with its huge fins, however this one was a bit more elegant and understated as you mentioned. Just gorgeous!!

    My grandfather, who wasn't wealthy, but managed to appear like he was, had a new 56 2dr HT in Taos Turquoise. I was only 3, but already into cars, and it was beautiful. He traded the 56 for a 58 Continental, which was troublesome, and traded the 58 Connie on a 58 Capri 2dr. My grandmother kept the 58 until 63 when she traded it for a 62 Comet S22. The Comet was driven until her death in 1985. I loved the 56 & 58's! The red convert is gorgeous!

    I love these and the '57's, another interesting feature is the battery under the floor of the front passenger side. These were better looking than the competition at the time, for sure.

      Lol yeah the battery position is pretty interesting. Too bad my friend and I were driving in his ‘57 Lincoln and the battery started smoking at our feet. Ended up shorting out.

    You know what's interesting? In '56 the Lincoln, the Cadillac and the Imperial still had trunk-mounted factory a/c units with those little scoops on the rear fenders. However, Cadillac even offered a/c on their convertibles! Somehow, as I've seen in their literature, the a/c outlets were in the top boot; I guess they were covered up when the top was down. I've never seen one of these elusive convertibles. I grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast and my parents had factory built-in a/c in a '54 Pontiac Star Chief bought the year before I was born! Sadly, most of these cool old cars don't have it...

    Hermoso red Lincoln. 1956 is Continental Mark II year. But that is a very nice Lincoln Premier.

      *Premiere. The Lincoln Premiere and Capri, and Continental Mark II were all manufactured for the 1956 model year.

    It needed a better instrument panel and dash like the 55 Cadillac's

    • @Ctrl-XYZ
      @Ctrl-XYZ 2 года назад

      This is a much better looking dash than what Cadillac had in 1954-55-56. More functional, too.

    Very low beltline for a 1956 full-size car and Lincoln made the car look stylish without tailfins. Sales were strong for 1956 model year but the next few years were tough because sales slid consecutively through 1960 model year. The 1966 model year finally had comparable sales popularity. FoMoCo was unable to develop a consistent Lincoln look in the postwar era until 1961. Also, marketing and advertising were vastly different every few years which confused the public.
