*Insert obligatory "But Proto..." line here* Yeah, back when Monster owned the brand, they were better. Especially the Studios (even though they still are focused on bass). Sadly by the end of the Monster era and in the current Apple era they have become a joke in the audiophile community and music lovers alike. What I find funny is that my Galaxy Buds sound better than my old Beats Solos. They lasted me quite a while before I sold them on eBay. I liked using them but i sweat a lot during high school and I sweat VERY easily and the plastic rubber glued on head band that sits on my hair comes off easily and kept doing RMAs on them. I honestly should have asked for Sony's but because Beats were super popular in the 2000's and early 2010's that I kept asking for them for Christmas. I know better nowadays and know that next time I buy nice headphones. I'll definitely find those old AKGs or even Grados. (Seeing how I have the Galaxy Buds G1 and Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless for Gaming, i might not throw money on headphones anytime soon.)
After seeing this I went and bought the Sonys, and I love them. I had to EQ them to get better top end, but I love how they sound. My home office faces a busy road, and with these on I barely notice it. And the case is awesome too!
Same here. Got them for christmas about a year ago. I had beats, but the earpads were falling apart and I wanted to get these. Great headphones for the price, just need a bit of tweaking on the eq.

Wow, felt weird seeing the headphones I was using to listen to this pop up. My only complaint with the WH-1000X model i've got is that the touch controls can't be turned off and they sometimes get activated by random things or even the cold, and that makes them *CALL* people in my contacts... Yeah, not fun! It hasn't lead to anything all that bad though, and since these have basically single-handedly saved my peace of mind every day for a couple of years (I have misophonia) I can't imagine getting any other ones. It's noise cancelling all the way, baby.
The touch panel can be turned off in the app. I do understand if you haven't noticed it, however; it's buried deep into the fourth slide menu where you change languages.
I have turned the touch controls off. I am pretty annoyed with not having any controls on them, but they were so bad... Every time I adjusted them they paused the music.
Keep in mind the Sony xm4s have a entire EQ system in their app so you can change bass, high end, just every bit of sound. God I love these headphones. No joke worn them everyday all day since the day they came out. No major wear, no problems, no connection problems. For the call for the perfect headphones these are it for me.

I've got these headphones and I agree, they sound super bassoverkill *out of the box,* however! After much playing around I've found that setting the in app EQ to [0~ 1+ 7+ 7+ 9+] does wonders! Thing that really messed me up trying to make them sound more full and bright was I kept lowering the EQ but that just made it worse. I also like setting clearbass to 3+ (sooometimes 10+ with electric music) but that's just me. ALSO if you have Dolby Atmos I highly highly recommend setting it to either Movie or Voice, either of those modes really take this to the next level and substantially improve any remaining muddiness left over after EQ.
I owned a set of Beats Wireless and they were my daily driver for a couple of years, you're right, they're perfectly mediocre. Once I switched to a decent pair of studio headphones I was blown away by how much better they sounded. Also they cost me less than half what the Beats did.
Bruh, I use those $20 Sony headphones and they're easily the best budget headphones ever. Nah man, these things sound like $10 Onn branded Walmart garbage.
Depends. Typically popping in knuckles and most muscles in joints is caused by the popping of air bubbles in the joints that build up after a short period of time. But there can be other natural causes. For example my wrists and shoulders will make cracking noise every single time I twist them a certain way because they developed in an odd way where the bones will clack together. So there are natural explanations for popping.
I personally love my XM4's, they're convenient and versatile, they're great to take to the office in huge part because of the carrying case. I work at Best Buy, I know little to nothing when it comes to headphones, I mostly like watching dankpods just cause he's hilarious but I'm also learning! And every time I find out some overpriced product (such as beats) are not as high quality as they like to make people think I get all smug. Also, Sony and Sennheiser are our most popular and highly reccomended headphones in store, I had a guy a few weeks ago who'd gotten a pair sennheisers, they wore out and we didn't have the same ones so he got some beats instead, came back a week later saying he hated the beats and we ordered the same sennheisers for him. One of our headphone guys also reccomends sony over bose or beats for affordable but also high quality headphones. We live in Canada so the price is super inflated in relation to the US price, but I recently got some Sony 710s and I think they're the best headphones I've had, I spent $90 on them with employee discount and on sale, they're usually $250 which as much as I like them, I wouldn't pay *that much* for them, so seeing dankpods endorse Sony, even if they're not the exact ones I have, feels very nice.

My first pair I got of Beats I got for my birthday one year. They were a nice pair of the full metal Executives. They lasted maybe a year before the speakers went out. Luckily we had the Best Buy replacement thing. And boy was it a shock to my family when the only replacements available were all plastic and absolutely cheap. Those plastic ones lasted six months and I went through two pairs of those before we decided to screw that and switched for a pair of Bose instead. And those ones lasted much longer and sounded 10x better.
I used to use Beats. My ears aren't well trained enough to see the weaknesses of the sound, but the build quality is really terrible. I dropped them from about 4 feet and they snapped clean in half. Bought Bose headphones to replace them and never looked back.

9:42 that "mmmmmmoooaaaahhh" from the earmuffs. That's a nostalgic sound. It reminds me of the times I would help my dad with his projects in the garage. He would grab one of his power tools and I grabbed the earmuffs cuz I didn't like loud noises.
I use beats solos that I bought back in 2010, and honestly I still like them. Yeah, I probably got them because they were trendy back then, and I was a teenager, but honestly they have held up pretty well. I’ve had no issues at all and they are still my main headphones after twelve years.
By the way, I’m not speaking for the headphones that are reviewed in this video. I don’t know what they are like or how long they will last, I’m just talking about my personal experience with the brand.
I used to work in retail at a well know fruit stand… When we got Beats in the store I cannot describe how much I hated them. They sounded terrible but moreover we had to replace at least one set a week for how often the hinges would snap. During high seasons even more often than that. Wasn’t hard but I loathed how often I had to deal with replacing them. I think inventory blew thru more of them for our floor units than we sold. 🤣
I never appreciated how good my own headphones are until I started listening to the headphone comparisons in your videos, and honestly they're probably not even that good, but I totally hear what you mean by soundstaging, the instruments sound just as loud but further away during the HD600 parts. Considering I dropped 500 dollarydoos on them it makes me feel better about my purchase :D
I currently use sennheiser px88s, broke tier yeah but I've come to appreciate them in terms of portability. The open ear design sucks for listening in loud areas though.

Beats are quite simply a scam. They spend hundreds of times on advertising what they spend in their products. A 50 dollar value set of headphones sold for 500. A scam. Not surprised, since it's Apple (seriously, those guys charge three or four times what their phones cost to produce).
Apples phone are actually expensive af to make because they insist on using cutting edge technology for everything when there is no reason to. Shit like using parts that cost ten times as much as what most companies would use because they allow the phone to be a tenth of a millimeter thinner without making the case thinner. And using the worlds fastest and most power efficient mobile chips, but locking down the OS so you can't use the speed, and using tiny batteries so you don't even gain battery life from the advanced technology. They are the main driving force behind most of the advancements in semiconductor design because they insist on having the worlds best technology no matter the cost, and regardless of if it actually allows them to make a better product. The new Macbooks are the only products they have ever made that actually benefit from this technology. Other than the original iPod, I guess.

When the Sony's came in, it felt like the tech version of going to a sporting event, and the most renowned player comes on to fuck up the other guy.
The bit about the rims felt like a targeted attack. "but dad, they're TE's. All the cool japanese touge guys use them and that means they're cool."
