You know it could be one of the reasons why droids are banned or straight up outlawed later on down the line in some places. Some old wounds just never heal
I remember reading of the droid rebellion but not that HK-01 lead it. Its a great explanation for why droids had limited ability to improvise outside of its purpose/programming in the star wars universe.
I suspected some kind of Droid revolt lead to the practice of memory wipes on Droids to avoid willful behavior, but had not actually heard there was one or even imagined the scale of their insurrection; reading isn't something that I do often and videos like this are my majority source for info pertaining to the expanded universe lore. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻 👌🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
I had no idea about this so called Great Droid Revolution or the damaged it caused. Sounds like Mace Windu would've been a great asset during this time, considering what he managed to do against a droid army, even without his Lightsaber I'm curious what HK-47 would think about the not so great revolution that L3-37 started in Solo. "Observation: I am a droid, master, with programming. Even if I did not enjoy killing, I would have no choice. Thankfully, I enjoy it very much." - HK-47
"Die Meatbag!!!!" Droid Revolution? I've never heard of it before but this was an amazing and insightful video my friend. I also didn't know that Czerka created the first prototype of the HK-47 assassin droid. The HK-47 was the most powerful droids ever made...no way the Clone Army could have defeated them if the Separatist had used them during the Clone Wars
I was aware, I have no idea when I read about it, but I am aware of it. Although I forgot it was Czerka, but then again when ever they need a Multi-National Evil Corporation in Star Wars ancient history Czerka fills the role nicely.
I've heard of some kind of droid rebellion on another RUclips channel but I don't believe that he went into detail. I'm glad you explained more of the great droid rebellion, now I know more about it.
So I’m a GM (game master) for the Star Wars Revised version RPG, I’ve known about the droid revolt only because I’ve gone down some serious rabbit holes in wookieepedia. Do to the HK unit I made my own HK-66, 69, 82, 86, 99 models for the era my players are in, is NJO. Anyway that was a nice video, always enjoy them and look forward to more.
I think I learned about the Great Droid Revolution from the Essential Guides. I thought the EG for Droids said the HK line was marketed as protocol droids but I might be mistaken.
Had to get them close to their targets somehow. Probably just a continuity error but if you were a writer trying to fix it you could argue their true marketing was possibly super hush hush so that they could be sold as protocol droids to people that could get them close to targets.
SWTOR does not deserve the hate it gets. Yes, it's not KOTOR 3, but that doesn't mean it's bad. I know alot of people hate it for "ruining Revan's character", but it's a great game regardless of how it treats some of the characters from the old game. The lore is easily the second best part. Always fun to learn what happened back then.
Great video man! I had no idea about HK-01 and the Droid Revolution and I thank you for expanding my Star Wars knowledge. May the Force be with you my friend.
I learned of it from another channel called StarWars Explained. He delves into mostly legends Lore and Droid memory wipes was one of the subjects he spoke about before. But regardless I will watch or listen to anything StarWars related!
I would love to see Star wars make a movie on the droid revolution I think it would be pretty amazing to see every type of Droid in Star wars come together and fight as one
I never knew about the droid revolution WITH HK-01 as the leader only about the last made copy of HK-47 on mustafar who, like its predecessor HK-01 lead his/its own droid revolution but (and I guess you can call it ironic twist of fate/Destiny) ultimately failed ending with the Copy HK-47 Being destroyed.
One of the best Codex parts of the otherwise debatable and monotonous TOR MMO, this. I would have preferred that this story came from a different work (like, say, an essential guide) though. Same for the concept of BTL-B Y-Wings, Padme Amidala being more proactive, and the spotlights for Tarkin and Yularen in TCW 2008. Edit: Love that this piece of lore is in the otherwise rough M4-78 mod for KotOR II, however.
I wish Google would spend the money to get hk's voice actor for phones and stuff. Could you imagine? Condensing tone"Master you missed the exit! Your organic meatbag eyes must be failing! This unit urges the user to be examined.

I'm thinking about doing a video that talks about every HK Assassin Droid model in Star Wars History. Does that sound interesting to you?
ABSOLUTELY
#dewit!
At the same time I still want to hear how the Jedi were arrogant around the time of the Mandalorian Wars
Do it!
If you don't make this video ill be sending an assassin droid after you
Can you make a video about the top ten scariest alien species in the star wars franchise?
I have learned about the GDR and HK-01 while playing M4-78EP. There were some references, like some Droid thinking that HK-47 is HK-01.
Oh really? I only ever played that mod once so I don't remember hearing that!
Yep I remember it from M478.

Better late than never! ;)
In Knights of the Old Republic II in the M4-78 Enhancement Project, there is a reference to the Great Droid Revolution on Coruscant.
and its one we will never see, or experience cause of disney's 'Czerka' policies...

Shhh Master, such a function in a droid is highly illegal.
There's another hk model in the kotor comic book don't remember the # but its early towards the end of year #1 or the beginning of year#2
Definitely a dark horse thing
