I had a really dodgy week so this was another video I had to make and wrap up very quickly - so I hope it's up to standard for you all. And do let me know below what you think personally of the GenoHaradan!
Thanks bro this was awesome btw but if it’s not too much trouble next time can you do what happened to every dark relic from the era or the ancient sith?
KOTOR is the greatest video game ever created. The emotions it stirs in me even 20 years later are something that no other video game has ever done and I doubt ever will again. I'm so glad that people share my passion for it, and still discuss it.
I feel like the GenoHaradan should see a bit more use. I feel like they could’ve been perfect in the SWTOR Imperial Agent storyline instead of the Star Cabal. The GenoHaradan has a history of political interest so for them to go the extra mile and be against both the Empire and Republic could be interesting. Combined with their skill and proficiency, it would prove to perfectly counteract the ruthless Imperial Intelligence. Overall though I think they’re an interesting little part of the life and hope for maybe a SWTOR addition involving them.
They did some years ago. Supreme Chancellor Saresh puts a hit on you when you go visit the sith Empress Acina on Dromund Kaas on one of the chapters. The GenoHaradan do come on force to try to kill you, but are not enough.
This is why I love your channel. I never even knew that the GenoHaradan were supposed to play a role in KOTOR 2. Even after all this time, I'm still learning things about my favorite game!
It would have been so much better if they had included the Genoharadan in KOTOR 2. Even when I first played it at the age of like 12, I had the feeling that KOTOR 2 just did not make sense or flow well, and after I found out so much had been cut it clicked for me. If they had been able to keep them in, it would’ve made all the dialogue about subtle background manipulations of galactic events more understandable.
I only Recently Played the Whole Story of KOTOR 2 to a End and during the Nar Shadaa Arc it did cross my Mind that the "Guards" in the Exchange base Looked way too Epic and cool for them to be Exchange "Special Forces" of some sort and have even a Recording of me saying "Theese guys as like a Assasine Class Enemy in this Game wouldve have fit so much better" or something like that. Its Awsome how it connects now in my Brain that the Guards and Banners in the base Really looked more like a Cult of Knights of some sort then Exchange Soldiers. Makes me wanna go Back and Play throu the Base knowing "This is a GenoHaradan base and theese Guys are theese Secret Assasines i am Facing"
I loved the Nar Shaddaa story arc and I wouldn't want it to be changed drastically in a remake, though I was disappointed in the absence of any GenoHaradan content, they just fit the KOTORII themes so well
I’m getting a lot of Cerberus vibes from the GenoHaradan. Two organizations that had side stories in the Original Game, but play a major role in later games.
As I just wrote on another video: In the German version when we meet Batu Rem and Atton says "the Exchange huh?" the subtitles say "The GenoHaradan?". Of course I´d love to see them in KOTOR 2. The Exchange is all well and good and known but that would´ve made it more interesting to put another less known faction like the GenoHaradan in it!
I think using the GenoHaradan in KotOR II would have been interesting, but I was fine with what we got. However, if the KotOR Remake does well enough and Aspyr gets the opportunity to work on a KotOR II Remake and possibly add in all the stuff that was removed (like the stuff available in the Restored Content Mod and maybe Planet M4-78), maybe they could see about redoing the Nar Shadda section to use the GenoHaradan content? Just something that could be interesting to see if we get to that point if they can do it in a way that enhances the story with little to no damage to what was in the Obsidian version.
No. We don’t want any new shit in the remake. Even the cut content I wouldn’t care if they just left it out. I just want a visual update and engine stability.
I was pleased with the Exchange part of Nar Shadaa, but it would certainly have been cool to see the Genoharadan make another appearance as well. Looking back, it’s a bit disappointing we didn’t see them, especially seeing how the behind the scenes events would’ve been something they’d be involved with.
Whenever I play KOTOR I I always ignore the Genoharadan because the first time I took their missions I found myself earning a lot of dark side points. Something someone who wants to stay on the light side didn't want. But now that I learn that you can undermine them. Wow. How can I?
Basically, Hulas's bounties are more personal targets he wants you to eliminate: the other 3 overseers, but he doesn't tell you that. Once you're done killing them, he sarcastically congratulates you then brags about how now he's the only overseer left and , with the other 3 out of the picture, the leader of the whole organisation. He played you for a fool. You can either let him get away with it, never to see him again (he doesn't recruit you nor send assassins against you because in both cases he deems you "too dangerous" and you know his identity) or you can tell him he'll pay for using you. You both decide to settle things on Tatooine in the dune seas, alone, just the 2 of you. Regardless of whether you show up all alone or with a party, Hulas doesn't honour your agreement and shows up with all his buddies to try kill you.
Of courses, he loses badly and now all overseers are dead, leaving the GenoHaradan leaderless. I always make it a point to do this quest in the game, even when I'm light sided (I can always get points back later and max my alignment anyway). It's my favourite side quest and I always show up alone against Hulas and his cronies just to show him how much more honorable and powerful I am compared to him. It's also pretty badass to think I single handedly took down all leaders of this super secret organisation.
I think it would have been cool to have gotten the GenoHaradan in TSL. I would have liked to see them as rivals with the Exchange and seen a power struggle there. But I don't think it was a great loss cutting them out. Great video!
even if they weren't included that heavily as originally intended, I really wish they would have finished the "false Batu Rem" mission properly. I have done said mission as it is suppose to and it just feels.. "meh". Spoiler: you find out that false Batu came from Nar Shaddaa and you tell Renn this and then he's suppose to look into it but nothing more ever happens.
The only issue with seeing more of them in kotor 1 is that actually working with them is an entirely dark side thing so half or likely the vast majority won't even see it. Making it unlikely to be much of a priority. Now if you can play along and take down the overseers and then find a way to take down hulas at the end in an attempt to take down the whole organisation resulting in a largely balanced amount of dark/light side points then maybe that could work. You'd have to show their influence earlier in the game though, maybe competing with them for a bounty on Taris and when defeating them seeing a symbol and then matching that up with something else later before discovering this is how they recruit some of their new members, i.e people who can take on their current ones etc
I understand your logic, but this is simply not the case. I DO agree on making them show some relevance to the story early in the game (some sort of weird mysterious event goes on and then you later find the GenoHaradan agent who admits to doing it.) However, an obvious popular game: Undertale, shows why the light vs dark isn't truly an issue. KoToR is already a game that sparks alot of creative unique builds, from stealth, combat, force powers, mixed builds, blasters, melee, etc. With events being fleshed out to the utmost perfection, it shows alot of quality and care in their work, which sparks people to WANT to try new builds and scenerios with the game. One highlight being Juhani. Either she joins the team or dies, and she can drastically change the story for some people. It sparks "what ifs?" and makes people WANT to play the other side of the story, so GenoHaradan being mostly dark isn't too big of an issue. Also, getting Light Side/Dark Side points back isn't that difficult in the base game, so optimal players would probably just get their points back, anywho.
Gosh I freaking love Xim the Despot. He is probably the most well known ancient character by people in universe. Not even the first chancellor is remembered.
Amazing and fascinating video my friend, I didn't know anything about the Genoharadan...so it's always good to learn something more from the Old Republic era My friend again forgive me but I'm still stuck on Citadel Station on KOTOR 2 and having a hard time getting out
The GH are pretty interesting for sure. They could potentially have some very obscure technology as well as cool lore that only they are privy to. It's a missed opportunity not to expand upon them. It's apt that they'd be around in prequel times too, they are just too useful for whoever is in power to get rid of.
Thanks for the video! Always thought they seemed an odd "throw away" side quest in KOTOR, interesting to know they were essentially being set up for KOTOR 2 that never happened
I am now surprised by this revaluation, I guess they will have something to do in SWTOR maybe, or something in the new game, same time same channel!!!!
I remember fighting the GenoHaradan in Star Wars The Old Republic Knights of a Fallen Empire DLC. I thought it was interesting they came back, even though not to the public of the Galaxy, 300 years after KOTOR. Also it showed the Republic and later, former Chancellor Sarresh was willing to do anything to get their way. I thought it was awesome seeing an old faction that hadn't been mentioned for years.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Yeah in terms of immersive sim I was thinking Deus Ex. But not with the GenoHaradan. Splinter Cell came to my mind too, but I figured hitman would work better given their nature of being assassins for hire instead of government agents. They would probably use disguises and such.
Love the content, could make a video on “what if the empire discovered Earth” what would happen? How would the countries react, how would we stop them from taking the planet over?
I like the exchange but they are completely different than the Genoharadan...so I think including both gives us a better look at how the criminal underworld in star wars works...I wish we got to see more of the Hutt cartel as well

Honestly I wish when they do Kotor and Kotor 2...if they finish with Kotor3 that they go back and do a prequel game...or maybe 2....starting with the Mandalorian wars and everything and then the Jedi Civil War itself...maybe it could be something more of like an RTS or something...like EAW but either way I would love to see it...
I would've loved to have known more about them but I always ran dedicated LS playthroughs of KotOR, so I never was able to find out more. Lotta missed opportunity for not using them indeed. I do really hope they remain true to the original game with this remake, should it ever see the light of day. Some quality of life additions I expect but I'm extremely wary of major alterations to the original game.
They could have played an important part in the civil war on Onderon as backing up General Vaku while the Sith provided the military might for the coup. It would have made more sense from a political point of view. Another place they could flourish would have been in The New Jedi Order series during the Yuuzahn Vong War. Endless possibilities there
Obsidian back then was infamous for killing franchises with shoddy sequels. Neverwinter Nights, KotOR, and various others. It's as miracle they didn't kill Fallout and actually delivered a good game with New Vegas.
They should have been in Kotor2 and not in place of Exchange, but as another player with their own agenda at Telos... It would have made it more interesting for sure. The Ithorian/Exchange quest lines are so clearly light and dark that it is almost uncharacteristic for Kotor2. The game is very hard into the gray areas in between and there clearly was a missed opportunity to bring more Kreia teachings into the game with another faction in play for Telos...
After completing the bounties uou can choose to fight Hulas in the dune sea of Tatootine, ultimately destroying what's left of the GenoHaradan. I thought that was the end of the story.
