    The lack of an indicator stalk is going to be a deal breaker for some. Those buttons on the wheel is a real pain in the ass compared to a fixed indicator stalk, especially in roundabouts. I'm actually surprised it's even legal. I think we're going to see lots of teslas not using indicator lights in roundabouts from now on.

    • @mh0Ang95
      @mh0Ang95 Год назад +6

      The quality and tactile feel of those scroll wheels and “buttons” are so cheap sounding and looking. The door sounds were also perhaps deeper than prior year models but sounds terrible and not solid thunks at all. Still got build quality issues for sure

    • @JohnnyZenith

      The deal breaker is also the lack of a HUD let alone a drivers display. I won't be buying one.

    • @FireWalkMusic
      @FireWalkMusic Год назад +9

      @JohnnyZenith indeed. It's strange, I thought the whole point was to make the car more desirable for more people? Instead, they go ahead and make it a dealbreaker for a lot of people thanks to this extreme cost cutting by removing the stalks.
      I'm also sad to see the fog lights go and the ultrasonic sensors. The camera based park assist is wildly inaccurate and therefore unusable.
      To consider a model 3, all I wanted was the following:
      - Stalks! (Can't stand those buttons on the wheel!)
      - instrument panel or HUD.
      - a proper hatchback design to make it more practical.
      That's all. I don't need a rear screen since nobody will be sitting in the back seat anyway. And I don't need ambient lighting either. From the videos I've seen, it seems like there's a glare in the front window now. Who wants a light in their face while driving? The only light I want in my face is speed, exterior light info, etc. Hopefully, only the front ambient light can be turned off.

  • @jor_R
    @jor_R Год назад +41

    No stalks. Deal breaker for me. Its almost impossible to turn on the turn signal when exiting the round about when the steering wheel is turning. But all other areas, huge improvements. Thanks Bjørn for the video 👍

      Ergonomics is an important part of safety I would think. Here in the USA, no one is taught anything about roundabouts, but more and more roundabaouts are being built so..?

    • @SraMYM
      @SraMYM Год назад

      They could make automatic blinkers handled by Autopilot neural nets (as long as you have your destination in the system), just like the switch to drive or reverse.

    • @ziggyyo
      @ziggyyo Год назад +1

      Turn signal: I assume there will soon be some memory tricks to quickly find the right turn signal button when leaving a roundabout. For example: On the top of the steering wheel, there are „T E S L A“ letters. The signal button close to the „T“ activates the right turn signal. You might need to practice it a few times for the 12, 3 and 6 o’clock positions.

    • @jor_R
      @jor_R Год назад +10

      Here in Norway we were taught in the driving school the importance of using the turn signal, for safety reasons, 1st your informing other drivers that you are exiting the round about hence it facilitates faster flow of traffic and 2nd it prevents collisions because they will know your intentions. It is also mandated by law to use blinkers specially when exiting the round about because if you get caught by the police then you will get fined.

    • @snowyfall753
      @snowyfall753 Год назад +25

      It is crazy dangerous, and I hope lawmakers will regulate this unfortunate idea.
      Instead of always knowing where to find the blinker stalks, you now have 360 degrees of possible positions and in 180 degrees of the positions the buttons will be upside down.
      Also why have icons, they are only pointing in the correct direction when the steering wheel is leveled correctly, and why is the first button at the top the right blinker?
      Impossible to use in heavy traffic driving through roundabouts, accidents will happen due to drivers not checking the road for other cars in blindspots or pedestrians crossing the road as the driver needs to look down and try to find where the buttons are located and which one to use. If the driver manage to actually turn on the blinkers, a large portion will signal in the wrong direction and can cause other accidents due to other drivers assuming the car is going in that direction.

      Tesla knew about this ergonomic problem when they deleted stalks from the Model S, my guess is that it’s Musk who suggests deleting critical parts like stalks, parking sensors, rain sensors etc. which is why engineers can’t walk back those bad calls even when they’re unpopular with customers. The company would probably now be better off without him

There's lots of little roundabouts and cycle tracks around my place, as with many old European cities, I need to be able to indicate quickly when the steering wheel is at an angle, and I can't see how that's possible with the new Tesla M3. Disappointing and disappointing that Tesla doesn't put the "customer first" and provide a vehicle that many people want, but it's a free world. @@Alexander_Of_PinesThat would be a strange speed rating then.
      Most tires have a V, W, Y rating (240, 270, 300 kph). Never seen a U or H rated tire before in the performance or EV category
      I don't 'need' to have or do many things. I just appreciate that the choice is mine usually.

      @finnurth Год назад +1

      @@Alexander_Of_Pines I did go 220 km/h on the cheapest Telsa M3 rental in Germany, so surely there is an interest of going faster occasionally. I am guessing that Tesla will market an upgrade, maybe even 2 upgrades, higher max speed (225 - 250 km/hr) for 1500 USD and faster acceleration 0-100 km/h by 0,5s for 1500 USD. Some people may opt for a faster acceleration but are not interested in a higher top speed.

    • @kaasman78
      @kaasman78 Год назад +1

      @@finnurthExactly. Most probably more expensive than only acceleration, but the top speed is included. Wild guess....3000 for a sport mode.

      I love seeing people complain about the stalks. i regularly find myself pulling into the driveway. And simultaneously lowering my window and reducing the volume on my (upside down)steering wheel to chat to my neighbor, or my wife and kids who regularly sit out on the grass to meet me coming home from work. I consciously think about how it would be to have no stalks. And then I remembered that spacial orientation is part of an iq test, how on earth do I manage to reduce the volume on my upside down back to front steering wheel. Not rocket science and not hard. I’m down for stalkless. nothing displays a lack of confidence more then people complaining “how will I negotiate a roundabout with no stalks”. Where did those pesky buttons go 😂 Everyone who’s used these on the S and X figure it out in a day. Far from a deal breaker. I’ll take the sleek interior. I’m more concerned about the ergonomics of gear shifting on the screen…..

    I hope they add more customization to the ambient light, like dynamic lights based on what time of day it is, state of charge, speed, whether you are faster than the speedlimit, hell maybe even make it go white when the doors are open and back to your colour when they are closed.
    I am curious if it already adjusts to the driverprofile of different drivers.
    But hey, it's Tesla - no way they won't make that feature a playground haha

    11:08 your EQ settings are completely flat. Punch them up! Also, they might have it volume limited because they don't want people blasting out the show. At 17 speakers, 3 more than the outgoing model, I can assure you it will be very loud.
