The footage of Miki (blue competition vest) giving Johnny Fain (red competition vest) the push was taken at the 1965 Malibu Invitational Surfing Contest. I think Fain was surfing for the Malibu Surfing Association and that the goofyfoot (red vest) who took off in front of Miki in a subsequent shot might have been Butch Linden. Whoever it was, he tried hard to take Miki down with him, but failed. Miki was the master.
No - on the beach that isn't Fain. It might be Mike Purpus. Fain was just about the same age as Dora and Purpus younger. I think that's Fain riding a few waves next to Dora. And I think it's Fain doing the spins on his board.
You're quite right bha, they were exactly 10 years apart - Dora born in 1934, Fain in 1944. So in this video during the 60's, Fain would have been in his early 20's, Dora early 30's.
Da Cat! Miki wasn’t so much of a man as he was a force of nature to be reckoned with. Tremendous surfer. I’d do most anything to be able to be as cool and as good a surfer as that dude 🏄🏻♂️🌊
Hi, I would like to contact you about the use of part of this video which we are interested in for a documentary project we are developing. Thank you, Kind Regards
1975 brian rapp was captain of the beverly high surf and football teams at 15 years old at state beach with robbie Dick Jon shafer thé duke kirk snyder coach Ned eckert jj moon kim koskie and gina girshon
Miki was Steve McQueen on a surfboard. Each were panthers---in the surf, or on dry land !
You forgot assholes and both died alone of cancer
And that young blond kid is a young Mike Purpus.
