It doesn't get any better than the Chick Corea Akoustic Band with John Patitucci and Dave Weckl, they are one of the greatest piano trios on the planet and they sound as good if not better than they did 30 plus years ago. What an amazing collection of musicians, love these guys so much.
Unfortunately they sound less good than 30 years ago, but that's normal.. They can't reach the "Alive" performance record, like perfection in every way, but no one can though.
I saw Stanley Clarke in concert last year. Stanley announced the next song by Chick Corea, whereupon the audience, as one expressed its sadness at Chick's passing. Stanley said simply . . ."he'll be back." However, one chooses to take the comment, I for one was very moved by Stanley's comment. ❤
Chick's piano trios don't get enough recognition that other piano trios do; I think only because the other trios stay together a whole lot longer. But Chick's piano trios, imho, are among his greatest achievements and contributions to jazz. Just think: Miroslav and Roy, John and Dave, Eddie and Steve, and now Christian and Brian. So varied and the musicianship is just outstanding. I especially love Chick's rapport with his drummers. Some of the stuff he's done with Roy is just uncanny.
I cannot agree with you more. As you mentioned all those trios, the pictures and sounds came to mind, truly outstanding. There is something though about this trio that is very special and inimitable. Probably it is the years together through akoustic and electric bands. Of course, it is all highly subjective, but to me, nothing beats this: ruclips.net/video/dJzHpRmtbC4/видео.html
I think this is one of the first tunes I heard where the bass played the melody along with the piano. I didn't know that was possible, so I thought it must have been some weird synthesizer effect. I would love to hear lots more from Alice!
Chick. Love you, man. Been listening since the early 1970's when l bought the 'Piano Improvisations' albums. 'Children's Songs' is a desert island disc for me. Couldn't be without it. The varied colors are too delectable. Musical tapas! SO much music to love. Wishing you continued good health and happiness.
Three amazing musicians; however Dave Weckl swings the hell out of it. I remember him playing w/ Chick at the Freejazz festival in Rio de Janeiro, in the 80s, and since then his playing has changed significantly. Amazing how he keeps getting better and better.
You never cease to be the finest, finest musicians I have been blessed to hear! God richly bless you Chick, Brother John, and Brother Dave! We love you all very much talented dudes! God bless!
Besides the standing ovation at the end, I thought the audience sucked. I would have been out if my mind had I been there. Just aren't enough superlatives for these 3 masters. Bravo, bravo, bravo.

I like Chick with Roy Haynes better when it comes to straight ahead. Fusion either Gadd or Weckl but especially '80s Weckl that shit fucking RIPPED!

@@barkofink i disagree
@@JazzyFuriousDestroyer I agree with you disagreeing
It does! Akoustic band with colaiuta!!!
The loss of the great Chick Corea, one of the most important pianists in jazz music, is very unfortunate. Great Master .. Goodbye Chick

Miss Chick!
Although playing some hard-core stuff, the band has certain comfort in them, and that is so pleasing.
Think about what people had to do to see such playing just 20, 30, 40 years ago. Thank you so much for uploading these performances.
Humpty Dumpty...One of the best tunes ever...The one i always come back to...
Man seriously, none of us hobby pianists will ever catch up with the beast that is chic. Hes the ultragenius and hes so chill.
He has been doing this for over 50 years... It ain't no hobby with him. If you play professionally for 50 plus years you could hang with him.
@@rodterrell304 stay positive hehe
@@rodterrell304 yeah, but he meant it for Hobby pianist, a Hobby pianist won't reach a professional level, unless he is a natural virtuoso
What do you mean by "catch up"? It's about creativity, it's not something one can "catch up" on.
This man "Chick" was an ear opening revelation to music when I was 13. I'm now 43 and my daughters know every song from this trio 🎵 . RIP Maestro🙏🏼

Love the smooth and understated approach to this track here. Like a fine wine. We'll miss you, maestro.
Rest in Peace Master Chic Corea.....
Chick Corea could really swing so inventively and excitingly smooth.
This song hook me to this virtuous Jazz Pianist way back in the 70s.🎼🎹🏆
That was just UNREAL!

Fascinating! But still I'm so much in awe in how Chick "comps", or is this still the appropriate term for what he's doing....?
