  • Jamey Johnson covers Johnny Paycheck's "11 Months and 29 Days" live at the Farm Aid concert in Hershey, Pennsylvania on September 22, 2012. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

Farm Aid's performances are donated by the artists in order to raise funds and raise awareness for family farmers. They've raised their voices to help - what can you do?

Jamey Johnson is one of a very few real country singers left. He is one of my favorites and I love his music. However, I don't think anyone does 11 months and 29 days better than Johnny Paycheck. No disrespect meant to Jamey Johnson, he is a future country music hall of famer.

What a fantastic take on the Johnny Paycheck song. The entire band is as solid as can be.
No wonder Haggard said not long ago that today's country music is pure crap and Jamey Johnson is the exception.

I can't argue with that statement. Every time I turn on the TV I feel like we're getting closer and closer to the end...... :-(

I've had the fortune of seeing Jamey perform twice, though it would be three times if not for working, and he always puts on a phenomenal show. When he was headlining in '09 with Randy Houser opening, Houser came out and put on a damn good show, one of the best I've seen(and I've seen George Jones, AC/DC, and Ozzy, just to name a few). But as soon as Jamey stepped on stage, he blew Randy away. Then, I saw him maybe two years ago, opening for Hank Jr., and he out played Hank. Jamey came out and ripped through some amazing songs, even playing "Waymore's Blues," at one point.

To be in todays "country" industry he'd have to clean shave and get a spiffy haircut, get some skinny jeans, and learn how to shake his ass on stage to a pop beat.
