One of the best duets I've ever heard, beautiful song, beautiful music, flawless rendition, perfect harmony, any singer who chooses Alison Krauss to sing a duet with makes the best decision ever, can't stop listening to them, play it over and over again
I know this was seven years ago but i felt like I was right there in the room with them. I dont think I've ever heard a more beautiful rendition and perfect harmony.
If I weren't much of a singer - and I'm not - I would ALWAYS want Alison Kraus next to me. Her stunningly beautiful and pure voice would make Bob Dylan sound great.
alison krauss's vocal is sensational!!! had me crying...........i'm and old guy didn't know of jamey johnson....his vocal is also very impressive . very sensitive, heartfelt interpretation. This overall performance is off the charts!!!!! Just fantastic. if a young person wants to know what REAL country is, show them this video!!!!!!
Love Alison she is just the best. Jamey harkens back to the days of George Jones, Merle and Waylon. When Country music was country not the latest version of pop. Awesome.
Every now and then a song makes the singer rather than the singer making the song. This is one of those songs. Hank Cochran, Timi Yuro, Eddy Arnold, Willie Nelson all produced individualistic versions, all beautiful.
Now, dont everybody jump on me at once! This is very beautiful, however, I still love Elvis' version best. Especially, when he strains saying, "Get it off, get it off, my shoulders," I just start to bawl in that part... it makes me think he probably really felt like the world was on his shoulders at times. Anyway, saw this & had to listen. Beautiful song, beautiful voice! Really pretty & very good job. Ty for sharing! Oh! Almost forgot, Eddie Arnold, love him too!! 👍
I'm with you actually...when it comes to Jamey. I uploaded this because of Alison whose voice in beauty is up there with the likes of Elvis imo. But Jamey..he sucks all energy out of me within two bars of any tune.
just a little more comment: eddy arnold's version was a great classic. that's what brought me to this video . i like to see different interpretations of great songs. this just blew me away. they transform this song from a great heartbreaker into something way above that......this one doesn't BREAK your heart, it RIPS it right out!!!! WOW!
I agree @reddragonready_ Anything with Alison Krauss is fantastic such an angel voice, she is such a Superstar! Jamey made a very smart move here..he's no dummy..
My Granny and Papaw were Eddy Arnold listeners and had his cassette tapes in their old delta 88.......this song, so beautifully done, by Mrs. Krauss and Mr. Johnson, reminds me of them.
Can't say I agree with you. I am very happy Jamey asked her to join him on this song and that he had the good sense to basically have her be the lead. A strange thing to say "never ding a duet with Alison". Since there are so many great duets with her around.Especially if you aren't all that great a singer yourself in fact, Alison is your girl because her attribution always lifts a song to a higher level.
Allison is smart and chooses her projects with sound instincts..Jamey is a good choice and so was Robert Plant..she knows intuitively what works. I'm a devoted fan.
I couldn't agree more with you. Having a great voice is not all it takes to be a great CW singer/balladeer. Heck, lots of the CW greats didn't have "great" voices, but they sure had something that made me love listening to their songs over and over and over. I think it has something to do with their twang, their soul, their emotion, and their honesty.
Hi ya RedDragon, just wanted to let you know that I had to start over on this new channel. Reposting stuff will take a little time but I've already added some things (in both Alison playlists) that the old channel didn't have. Thanks for your kind messages. It means a lot!
I doubt Hank Cochran ever appeared on the Letterman show, but maybe he did. And don't we all miss Letterman? He is a man of the left, but he never hit his audience over the head with it.
Hank Cochran was in race studios on July 2 1964 when Jim Reeves records his song as a favor since Hank was going thru a divorce. It was done one on the fly with two takes. . Released after Jim's death.
Hippie dude sounds kick ass when he started singing and didn’t she sing with Robert Plant years back? My parents used to play this song when I was a little kid..way cool 👍🏻
He isn't a hippie and Alison actually just dropped another album with Robert Plant. Getting good reviews. Check it out! It's called Raise the Roof. ( First album with Robert Plant was called Raising Sand and got 6 grammys btw)
I don't know about Richard but I'd say though the timbre of Jamey's voice is pleasant, he simply is not a great singer. There is more to great singing than just having a pleasing voice.
One of the best duets I've ever heard, beautiful song, beautiful music, flawless rendition, perfect harmony, any singer who chooses Alison Krauss to sing a duet with makes the best decision ever, can't stop listening to them, play it over and over again
It's beautiful isn't it .Have you heard their version of Seven Spanish Angels ? I'm going cold thinking about it.
Hear, hear!!
Alison Krauss, wow. She is a National Treasure.
Alisons voice is sheer vocal perfection here
I simply melt when I hear Alison sing. I only wish she would see this comment. She is so beautiful
When I hear Alison sing, I think of Angels.
What an amazing rendition of a timeless love song.
One of my favourite songs of my teens years. Done to perfection by Alison and Jamey.
I know this was seven years ago but i felt like I was right there in the room with them. I dont think I've ever heard a more beautiful rendition and perfect harmony.

What a killer voice that JJ has..!!
She sings like I imagine an angel would. This combination is just perfect...........purr, purr....
Wow! Such beautiful harmony

This song just popped into my head tonight & I'm 65yrs old so I was only a Baby back when it came out originally!!! Xoxoxoxox from Kentucky
This my favorite version of this song. Love it
Same for me
This is now my favorite version of the song...soooo perfect 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Love Alison she is just the best. Jamey harkens back to the days of George Jones, Merle and Waylon. When Country music was country not the latest version of pop. Awesome.
There are still a few traditional style artists.
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. SHE SINGS WITH FEELING.
Two beautiful voices one beautiful song
Every now and then a song makes the singer rather than the singer making the song. This is one of those songs. Hank Cochran, Timi Yuro, Eddy Arnold, Willie Nelson all produced individualistic versions, all beautiful.
AND So did Elvis!!!❤
Memories, they make you smile then cry. Thinking of Eddie Arnold when I hear this song.
I love the way Alison holds onto the note until just the right moment.
these two together, are just amazing. perfect harmony
Two of my favorite singers, Jamey Johnson's music is forever in my collection of music as is Alison's angel voice.
Their voices blend so perfectly during the chorus'. Amazing song/album/artists.
My dad used to play that song. Eddie Arnold singing that, back then great song
Still is a great song.
wow ..just found this gem .. love it
Like talented Alison for a long time. Like Jamey too. This song is a favorite of mine for reasons other then couple problems. Thanks for sharing. 🎶❤️
Great song originally done by the great Eddie Arnold. Allison could sing the phone book backwards and still sound amazing!
Great job by two great singers.
The best version iv ever heard
Now, dont everybody jump on me at once! This is very beautiful, however, I still love Elvis' version best. tony Geisen Elvis did a great version of it too
Wow. That was beautiful
Great song
Unmatched.. this is country.
I agree @reddragonready_

Just wonderful!
Who says they don't sing them like they used to?❤
Melody is beautiful the words are funny for me they go hand in hand with love😅❤😅
Flawless in every wat!
Allison is smart and chooses her projects with sound instincts..Jamey is a good choice and so was Robert Plant..she knows intuitively what works.

Thanks for the heads up! I've subscribed. :-)
@@reddragonready Appreciate it!
WOW!!
those two really complement each other
Personally I much prefer her work with Robert Plant.
This is a good version, check out Raul Malo's version (very old video) and of course, Eddy Arnold's version.

Thanks to everyone who commented on what I said. I enjoyed reading your viewpoints.
Wooow 🩷🩷🩷🩷🎶🎶🎶🎶
Though I totally agree with your sentiments...I was really referring to technical ability. :)
Nice that Letterman acknowledged a legend. Twice.
Jamey might fill their shoes
Love Alison, who's the hippie?
Hahahaha "hippies" generally do not drop out of college and join the marines. For more on Jamey...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamey_Johnson
Eddie Arnold?
Yes Eddie Arnold sing this, so did Jim Reeves, so did a whole bunch of other people
LOL Than this must definitely not be your song.I suggest checking out Tom Waits though. :)
That seems to be true respect wise but a great singer he is not alas.
Little too slow for me. I really like Timi Yuro's version. ❤
Umh Umh the singin and pickin.
I would leave my wife for Alison. Really I would
That's not right.
I don't know about Richard but I'd say though the timbre of Jamey's voice is pleasant, he simply is not a great singer. There is more to great singing than just having a pleasing voice.
