Zeus holds every advantage under the sun apart from maybe speed, which isn't going to help Baldur all that much. There are levels to this game. Zeus is more in league with the likes of Thor and Odin than Baldur, who is a fraud and isn't even the strongest enemy in the game he's the final boss in.

Then Atreus makes a comment about, how Freya mentioned that magic is bound to the land, and when Kratos's homeland died, so did his powers. This pretty much confirms the fact that Kratos lost a big chunk of his powers, so, I'm not sure how he is "stronger" than his younger vengeful self, as Cory said. Is he physically stronger or..? He is much wiser and more calculating, but I'm not sure about being stronger. Now, considering, how magic is bound to earth and how Kratos has lost his powers because his homeland got destroyed, you'll realize that Kratos, a foreign god without a land, came to the Norse Pantheon, on their home turf, where they are the strongest and beat them there without any real problem, lets be honest here. The main reason why this took so much time is, one, he just didn't want the fight nor had any beef with Aesir, and two, his whole focus was directed towards keeping Atreus out of harm's way.
