Both actors created the most amazing on-screen chemistry and made these characters real, authentic, and believable!!! They are both incredibly skilled and talented!!
According to another video, you can't hear him but when they hug Alex is saying, "It's okay, I'm here, baby."
Alex's "baby" really gave me butterflies in stomach and made me skip a beat. It was so unexpected and such a treat to watch ❤️
When they embrace/hug each other on the stairs you can see Alex "mouthing" Baby again as he comforts Henry . So sweet .
Watching scenes like this one makes me wonder how people can think that loving the same gender is wrong. They experience the same feelings and go through the same situations, but the struggle they go through is different. ❤️❤️

So I only came across this film a few days ago and thank goodness I did! I have fallen in love with these two and this scene in particular is my favourite,, Henry’s first concern is for Alex and he equally opens up to him about he’s feeling,, Alex recognises how low Henry is and hotfoots it to London,, then the whole stair scene,, the way Henry runs down the stairs and is moulding himself to hug Alex even before they meet,, Alex walking up two stairs at a time to just get to Henry,,, I’m obsessed with this scene! Hands down, I think this is the most amazing scene of all the movie... The hug they share while sitting on the stairway is so intimate and full of love... I guess that in some ways it holds the meaning of true love... The feeling that no matter how hard it could be, if you have someone next to you who loves you deeply, well, you can face it all... ❤🤍💙

I love when Alex tells Henry he’s coming to London. Something about the way he says, specifically, “you know what” makes it sound like it wasn’t planned. He’s mentally working out what he needs to do, because while he’s wanted to be with Henry all this time, it’s not until Henry tells him he’s not okay that he realises he NEEDS to be with him.
You just know that behind Alex, Zahra is nodding, mouthing something like "Go, idiot!", and making travel arrangements with Shahn's assistance.

Henry is so precious! The look of disbelief he gives Shaan when the latter is handing him the phone makes my heart ache. It makes me sad to think about the way his privacy has been invaded but he is being blamed for it, and probably hasn’t heard a kind word or assurance from anyone in days. So when he finally hears Alex’s voice on the other end, he just crumbles.
There is also the thought of the awful intrusion of Shaan being ordered to enter Henry's room while he was sleeping and steal his phone. A forced betrayal in so many ways.
The number of times I've watched this movie is unhealthy, but I'm not planning to stop..please give us another movie of them..

Fun music fact, kids: the song Alex follows up with is My Country, ‘Tis of Thee/God Save the King. It’s a song shared by both countries, but different lyrics for each. So the multi-layered music references are off the charts in this scene!
It's so cute how they could play it for both of their countries and show how it tied them together.
"Yankee Doodle Dandy" is a corny American patriotic song, first written by Britons to make fun of Americans;
And the Bach song that Henry plays is "Shafe Konnen Sicher Weiden," with lyrics, "Sheep may safely graze / In a watchful shepherd's sight" -- thus alluding to the safety and peace that Henry feels with Alex watching him.
I know. That's exactly why I fell in love with this movie. It's because of that scene. I'm from NZ, and I did that EXACT same thing while my British bf (now husband) was playing the piano. I don't know how to play it, but I learnt that from RUclips and played with one finger. He loved it so much that he couldn't stop hugging me and blushing for the rest of the time.

There is a reason why I kept coming back to this scene. It soothes my heart watching Henry to be relieved once he gets the chance to speak to Alex again and be with him. He has found his home with him. I’m going to bawl my eyes out watching them every time.

Henry is such a nice guy, his first thought is if Alex is okay and not about his own misery.
My heart literally stopped and I was teary eyed throughout this entire scene. There hasn't been a single day after the movie was released that I haven't watched it and this scene.

There's more to it though. Henry was playing sheep may safely graze showing how theyre safe as they are now united. Then he switched to yankee doodle (American patriotic song) when playing the piano. That's when Alex came up to him. And Alex played god save the king on piano.

I'm reading the book first. It is quite delightful. Obviously alot of differences, but the essence of this story has been beautifully adapted for tv. I did not realise tho, that the book is, altho written in the 3rd person, essentially, Alex's pov.
Do please read it. And i'd like to see it in colege libraries too, for those lads who need time to find their way. It would have been invaluable when I was a Senior Teacher counselling 16-18 yr olds.
