My wild theory is that the gimmick/focus for the console will be its modular nature. The top and bottom usb-c ports plus magnetic sides could be used to attach an additional console, screen accessory, controller variant, and various 1st and 3rd party peripherals. That RUclips survey back in March that listed the "Switch Attach" as an option for consoles the surveyee would be interested in buying may have legitimately leaked the console name all along.
The reason why all the games have jitters, stutters, pop-ins etc., is because of the way the chip was designed. The CPU is not drawing fast enough for the GPU to render.
If smash completely changes genres to an adventure game... then why wouldn't Smash and this new game just coexist? Seems like it's not a "smash" game but like "Nintendo All-Stars Adventure RPG" or something

Whatever it was called, already forgotten the name. lol
i would LOVE a massive crossover game/series like smash but a different genre, but i think it would be better if it was called something else and we get a smash bros game along side it
I disagree with running out of exciting characters for Smash Bros. We see new games and franchises show up and pop off over the years. Existing franchises also get more popular over time, increasing hype and appeal. Joker is a character that didn't exist during the Smash 4 DLC days. Franchises like Monster Hunter and Guilty Gear are more popular than ever. Seeing those fully represented in Smash Bros will get some extra eyes. Existing franchises already represented in Smash Bros and outside will keep on getting new entries too. And yeah they may not all be interesting character wise. But for every Alear (Fire Emblem Engage) we can get an actual cool character like 2B or the latest Monster Hunters.
I've come to expect wacky new hardware with a gimmick. Sure they're not always great (motion control) but sometimes they're awesome (dockable handheld). I'm not sure how I feel about more if the same for an entire new generation. For better or worse, Nintendo have trained me to appreciate their blue ocean strategy.
Enjoyed the talkie-time 🙂↕️. Aha looking forward to revisiting my Animal Crossing file w/o all the lag and pop in that occurs when you really fill your island up. Hmmm unsure what I want for the next Smash. Maybe a complete revamp w/ faster gameplay and taking the movesets back to the drawing board?
Using Pokemon Scarlet & Violet as a prime example doesn't help as it's more of an isolated thing for Game Freak Switch games IMO - another Pokemon game called Pokemon Snap looks gorgeous in 60fps with barely any pop in and was made by Bandai Namco.
personally i think a October announce and march release like the original is very feasible. I think a more powerful switch is the right way to go, but i do wonder what would come after switch 2
Nintendos gimmick should not be packed in with the console. They should attach to the switch or be sold separately. Then they can make as many as they want and if it fails it's not gonna fail the whole generation...
Granted, it'd be nice if they kept the same optimizations to be able to run on Switch, but would have frame rate improvements, farther draw distance, etc. on the new model.
Yep, Nintendo definitely saved this generation. Switch 2 can't just be as strong as an 8th gen system though, Switch itself already isn't far off from Xbox One. Steam Deck is nearly as strong as Xbox Series S, Switch 2 has to match that at minimum.
Uhhh no Switch 1 is miles behind the Xbox one and PS4 it was underpowered the day it came out The steam deck is slightly weaker than a PS4 just way more ram and more modern architecture to make up for that Even the ROG ally which costs 800 bucks is only around a PS4 pro
