I love how Kyle seems more excited than McKayla.
Oh she’s excited alright.
McKayla is having to pay for it!
Women....
I was intrigued by EVs and started watching Kyle’s channels to learn more. Not long after, we welcomed home our ‘21 ID.4! We absolutely love it and thank you Kyle!
It's good to hear you like your ID.4! I ordered a 2023 ID.4 AWD Pro S. I have read comments from a number of people saying they had problems with their '21 or they hate the ID.4. The reason i reserved an AWD ID.4 is because it matches my Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid very well. AWD, cargo space, decent ground clearance, the overall size and looks of the ID.4.
@@unclej3910,
You’ll only mainly see complaints about a specific car. There are many, many of us that have had zero problems with our ID.4 and love it. Good luck!
McKayla is definitely the type of customer the iD.4 is for!
I've seen her in a few videos, and she always seems to look lost.
Many happy miles McKayla! Kyle helped me feel confident in choosing my ID.4, which I've had since July, and absolutely love! Kyle, thanks for all you do, and please keep us updated with this Chattanooga built vehicle, with your testing and Coleton's detailing.
New subscriber from south west England - I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your enthusiasm for vehicles in general.... Great stuff.... Thanks
Need more of Mackayla on the channel!! 👍
Great To see forward thinking dealers like Bob!
Congratulations! I'm really happy for her. I like the new center console on the Chattanooga built models. After VW goes back to actual buttons on the steering wheel, the ID.4 will be even more fantastic.
I love these videos Kyle. This will make so many people buy an EV. More of this please!
Cheers from Chattanooga McKayla! You are a natural on camera! Enjoy!
I took delivery of mine this past Saturday. Same exact model and color! It’s been a few days, and I’m still smiling from ear to ear.
McKayla, congratulations on making such an excellent choice. You look stunning in the ID 4 Pro S. I liked the car's aesthetics, especially the color, which is kinda unique.
McKayla, if you have 2nd thoughts about the extended warranty you can probably request a refund from the dealer (has to be done in writing). We got an extended warranty, but immediately regretted the purchase and after looking at the contract ours indicated we had 60 days to cancel; they did process it without any hesitation but it takes about 6 weeks to finalize. Congratulations on your new ID.4!!!
Great video guys. Thank you for sharing this buying experience with us.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us, McKayla. It's good to hear about your decision-making process. Kyle, thanks for uploading videos like this one and like Max's used EV series. While it's fun to watch the BMW i7 videos, that's not a car I'm going to buy. Can't wait to see the 2023 ID.4 charging video!
Kyle is such a control freak, tells her to try charging and then instantly takes over tells her what to do LOL that’s Kyle!!
A bit intense, let McKayla enjoy her new car.
I think if I did this to my sister, she'd find it annoying. 😆
Great to see a person taking ownership of their first EV. Good video.
She'd very lucky to have Kyle help her with the car. Congratulations on your new car.
We had a reservation for an AWD ID.4 from August 2021 to February 2022. That’s when we got an update from VW that we could expect to be waiting another six months for delivery. I did find an ID.4 at the Ed Carroll dealership but we live in far western Colorado. I just happened to see that a Hyundai dealer in Grand Junction had an Ioniq 5 on their lot we could test drive. We eventually bought the I5 and have very happy with it. I suspect we would have been happy with the ID.4 as well. BTW the Hyundai dealer in Grand Junction recently opened a public ChargePoint DC 62-125 kw charger on their lot. It is right off I-70.
Congratulations! She’s such a sweetheart. Enjoy your id4!
What's funny is.... I watched Bob's video before today and that he was about to "rain ID.4s" ... I didn't know one of yours was in his list!!! That's so funny. I was like... I just saw this dealership... Where did I see it?? Then you introduced him!
As a worker at the Chattanooga plant myself, I am happy to see that these are getting out to the people!
Congratulations McKayla!!
I have test driven the 2023 ID.4 twice already and planning to buy soon. And I'm grateful for this video because I have learned new tips and tricks already. Thanks and God bless
Excellent video! A learning experience for McKayla + a few other viewers…..like me.
That's cool that you're at Ed Carroll. I bought my 2001 Golf TDI new from them, and my 1981 mk1 Rabbit was purchased there by my parents. They've always had a pretty good staff.
Congratulations! Many Years Of Driving Fun!💖
We got our Red one a few weeks ago and love it can't wait to see your charging test.
We‘ve had our grey ID4 Pro since mid-December 20221. We‘ve traveled 17.400 miles, happy, quiet, enjoyable and relaxing miles inside Germany where we live and on trips to the Netherlands, Alsace, Denmark, UK, France and Spain.
The 3.0 OTA update came through a month ago.
We love all of the features mentioned in the video.
Best car by a long shot that we’ve ever owned and driven.
And IMHO the best bang for your buck which was also a deciding factor for us.
We charge and park on the street. No real problems so far.
Just the video I needed. A week ago I reserved an ID.4 AWD Pro S on the VW website.
Very nice choice of EV. One the most comfortable riding eSUV on the market today, if not THE most comfortable. And I love the Pure Gray colour. Well done McKayla.
Fun video to watch, I’m sure the ID4 will be a big hit, my uncle has a 2022 and absolutely loves it and enjoys driving once again.
Congrats ... amazing video !!!
Great experience video - and the ID4 is need car, good for families! What I liked to see that electricity is not way cheaper then over here - like gas!
I am so jealous at McKayla because I am still waiting for my 2023 VW Pro AWD in order. Kyle is the best EV instructor out there and I learned a lot from him about EV vehicles.
I always enjoy hearing Alisa's observations, and was delighted to "meet" McKayla. They're definitely sisters! Love that the ID.4's binnacle moves with the steering column: a much better solution for clear visibility than Tesla's yoke, IMHO. Also love the capacitance steering wheel, as I'm fed up having to apply torque in my Model 3 on AP.
I will say that the steering is not telescoping, which isn’t great for the id4
Wow, they actually sat down and explain all the controls to McKayla. 😮
The car looks great and free charging. Enjoy!😊
We’ve had our 22 Moonstone Gray rwd for a month and a half and love it. We also have the latest software(3.1) and have lane changing when in Driver Assist. Congrats to McKayla on her new ID.4!
Is this a PRO S feature? Cause I haven’t ever had it auto lane change in my 22 Pro
@@desiama9764 mine is a Pro S, but I think it is just part of the 3.1 software update.
@@geneduprey6938 I also have 3.1
Her first car is an ID4. Wow. Congratulations have fun. 🎉🎉🎉. Get that home charger it's a game changer.
Good video, fun to watch. Ha ha I have purchased the extra protection before as well, and later regretted it but never went back to the dealership to undo it😁
Congrats on the new ID.4 KcKayla! Enjoy!
Dc charge rate is 170kw for the 2023 id4
Love Bobs cap stating "Fahrvergnügen"!
Nice video. Since this model has the side parking sensors, you could make a video about the automated parking features.
Yes! I'd love to see a video putting that parking memory feature through it's paces, be interesting to see how "smart" it is.
Would love to see a range test of this Chattanooga built ID4!
I can tell she doesn't care about flooring it from zero to 60 or what the top speed may be. She's truly a responsible and mature driver.
Yeah, I can vouch for the "charge on 110v" being livable, I do it with my Bolt. It all depends on your usage. Even if it falls a little short, there's enough battery to "buffer" the shortages and you can compensate on the weekend
Woot! I'm in the same club with my bolt. My friends are always baffled. Lol
That 110v is very good for battery life too!
Good video. Nothing like keeping it in the family.
Love this video !! ❤❤❤ love from Denmark
VW needs to start paying you commissions! I ordered mine about 2 months ago, after watching many OoS videos. I was nervous about the infotainment system (still am), but it was a gamble that made sense based on the closest competitor being $15-$20k more after dealer markups. Thank you VW for keeping your dealers in line. Such bad brand management by Kia/Hyundai with the crazy bait and switch tactics.
McKayla is lovely 😍😍😍
I'm looking forward to testing and day to day life with this car. This is the trim level I would prefer.
That’s actually my story of how I bought my 2023 Bolt EUV exactly. It had basically everything I wanted plus the redline and illuminated charging port. I really got lucky with how few there were in stock where I live.
I am sooo jeleous! I've got one on order but it will be mooooonths before I actually see it in Nova Scotia, Canada.
I love that color!
Thank you and happy driving to McKayla.
You mentioned paint correct, ceramic coat and treat plastics. Can you provide more detail and recommendations on that.
I would consider the ID.4 more but lacking the heat pump and living in Wisconsin was a big factor for me. I’m not sure lack of the heat pump was mentioned in this video and maybe less of an issue in Colorado.
doors are so heavy to open and close. first edition was just fine.
2023 ID4 USA built has 170kW charging
Oh nice! I’ll be finding out soon. I heard we only got the 135kW bump but now thinking about it that may be the 2022 German built ones and Chattanooga is 175kW. Great news - thanks!
I’ve seen a few people online be able to hold 170 kW till around 25% on Chattanooga cars. Would love to see some charging tests, still waiting on my '23 ID4 that I ordered because of your videos. Thanks for all the content!
@@KyleConner They have quite low voltage like the i4.
Such a nice Video! Would love to see a 1 month update!
I see they made it look a little more muscular on the outside. And they changed the center console! Kinda like the individual arm rests on the 21’ better. But I bet the storage in the more traditional looking console is a bit better too.
Nice video. We live in Reno-Lake Tahoe and waiting for the AWD.
Congratulations 🎉 Nice improvements over last year. 👍🏼 Swap Kyle the Rivian when he want to do testing. 😉
The VW site lists all 82kwh '23s at 170kw maximum charging.
Great color similar to my moonstone grey German built 2022. Software 3.1 is great.
What does your car charge at?
You look so well together!
Nice couple!
Great video. A VW dealer told me the rear bench slides front and back in the upcoming 2023 AWD ID4. Can you verify if hers is stationary or on tracks? Would help with fitting stroller and large dogs in cargo area. Thanks Kyle and team! 🙏
It’s stationary in my 23 awd pro s US build.
I hope McKayla knows that the 23 apparently doesn't come with a level 1 charger. That felt like a weird omission.
Damn! 26:55 first time on the back up camera - totally nailed it!
McKayla is nice😊
If I were in the market for an EV this would be the one I would want. Sure there are flashier more expensive ones but for just around town and a 75 mile radius it would be perfect. I'm an old guy so not sold on cross country EV driving. When I'm a little older and only driving short distances I plan to get one.
I'll be driving one tonight at a local dealer that has inventory. This looks like it'll be eligible for the tax credit, which is a primary motivator for me. Thanks for the video!
NIce.. I really want to see a software 3.1 update video.. nice to see a battery percentage on the console!
Come down to Corpus Christi, Texas in January to see me pick up my ID4.
Congrats! I honestly don't understand spending more than $300 on a putty / grey car myself, but it's lovely in every other way and I hope it treats her well!
The Pure Gray color is no extra charge.
@@unclej3910 hey, let's just use primer, and give it a top clear coat! No actual paint needed!
To each their own. I love the color.
Beautiful car
Hey Kyle! Absolutely love the channel! You guys are killing it with the EV content! I'm hoping you can help. The blue Power Display on my 2023 ID.4 AWD Pro S has never indicated full/maximum power after 1,600 miles and 3.5 months of ownership. Although it does not feel sluggish, I'm concerned that there is an issue with the battery or drivetrain that is restricting me from accessing maximum power. The blue Power Display only shows ~85% full when the SoC is 90% and ambient temps were at least 53F. The drive mode was set to Sport and I had temporarily turned off the Battery Care Mode as I had read a footnote in the Owners Manual that suggested I needed a SoC of 88% or greater for max power.
Although the ambient temps were only 53F, I do not believe this would be considered cold enough to prevent the battery from maintaining its ideal operating floor temp of 73.4F.
I think the only proof that I would have of a battery/powertrain restriction is to throw it on a dyno, but that is not feasible. Any other ideas or solutions?
Lovin the arm over the airbag contanly
Kyle, is this a service you offer🤣🤣🤣. I'm in Seattle, I'll need help deciding on an EV. You've convinced me to look at id.4.
Holy crap! He has a Fahrvergnugen hat on! Haven't seen that in a minute, lol
Our 2021 pro's charge port door opens with the same vigor. 😉
Great looking car.
Whoa, that fella at the 4:15 mark sounds like Nathan from TFL. Took me by surprise 😂
I would buy all the warranty you can get. Yes buy the Buzz! I love these cars!
I'm replacing a model 3 lease this year and the ID.4 is quickly rising to the top of my list. I like the E-GMP cars, but the price point is pushing it and a Model Y has become ludicrously expensive. The real drawback for me is I live in a non-supercharger charging desert. The only level 3 charging for 100 miles is at car dealerships :/. Hopefully that'll change soon and/or Tesla will open up the SC network here in the states.
Tesla has been lowering the prices on their cars recently.
We don't get one off the lot in Canada ;) Looking forward to seek charging curves
We got ours a few weeks ago and love the car now have 2 EVs in the family.
Love your videos and I just pick up my 2023 ID 4 Pro S. According to the dealership, the 2023 models do not come with a charging cord anymore. Any recommendations? Thank you !
Wonder if they ever updated the speed of the inside screen.
If it is the etron-like charging curve, it is actually better than the peaky fast dropping curve.
Was hoping for a Chattanooga ID.4 video!
Didn’t think Moonrock was a 2023 color option. Did Mikayla mean to say Pure Grey?
Congrats to McKayla and I hope she loves her new car! I had a 1st Edition and honestly hated it. It just wasn't for me. But I *really* hope her experience is 100% positive and she has fun with it!
Hated it? Why?
@@djprojectus Yeah, hate is a strong term, but I did STRONGLY DISLIKE the infotainment system. No updates and buggy. Every now and then the car would throw errors that could not be resolved because in 15 minutes it was drivable again. If it was cold out the steering wheel and seat heater turned on, even if it wasn't cold out. Then to turn them off it was about 3 presses deep in the menu system. Same with turning on or off the heater or A/C fan, buried in a page in the UI. Other nanny mode thing I didn't like was lane keep assist. (Not lane centering when ACC was turned on.) Also buried 3 presses deep and the screen would never clear, so an extra screen button press to get back to the normal page. The UI perhaps was a good first try, but there were no system updates in the year and a half I had the car. (Still none as far as I know, but I haven't checked in a couple months.) I thought I could get used to no dedicated buttons for the back windows, but I didn't. My fault there. Haptic buttons on the steering wheel only mostly worked as intended. And, going around a corner was like a game wondering which button was accidentally brushed and changed something in the car. (Thought I'd get used to it, but no. My bad.) BUT, the car drove and handled excellent. It was very comfortable and charged plenty fast. Great road car. It just rubbed my rhubarb wrong every time I drove it with one little thing or another. My Ioniq 5 isn't as comfortable, but it has none of the above complaints, or anything even close.
Does the Ioniq 5 have an option like that where I can keep the climate running as I leave the car to plug in the charger? Or do I have to turn the car off, start charging, go back in and start the car to continue to warm the cabin while i wait for charging? Thanks!
I bought a pre-owned 2022 ID4 AWD Pro S with 12k miles on it, I liked the old center console set up better with the arm rests that fold up out of the way. It's running 3.1 which is stable and responsive. I got it for just over 30 grand after California's $2k used EV rebate. If VW upgrades the software, great, but what's on it is working well. Only gripe is getting your wallet out in the drive thru puts the car in park. That needs an off switch.
Hi Kyle, I'd love to see a video of the new 2023 Id.4 charge curve with a properly pre-heated battery, to see how it compares to a Model Y LR for long trips (with highway consumption comparison).
Can you test if usb-c pd is supported? I read it in a couple articles but early owners can't seem to get more then 15 watts out of the usb ports.
@kyle - can you please do your charging tests on this with the new updated 170kw speeds? 🙏
Do you happen to have anyone we could get in touch with for other early iD4 owners having the same issues.
Im pretty sure the US MY23 is 170kw charge rated, but please correct me if i am wrong !
Hey Kyle, we just picked up our 2022 Germany built iD4 Pro S. We waited 14 months for it and are very excited and hope it works out really well. You have so many great videos but we're not in the market for a home charger and have heard that either Lectron or Juice Box work for this one. Can you send back a link in you have a home charger video? And could you do another update on McKayla's mom's new 2023 iD4? We live in northern Mass, near New Hampshire but our son goes to CSU so we're in Fort Collins every so often, so hope we can meet sometime! Our treat for lunch.
That color will actually be called "Pure Gray". Moonstone Gray was on the 2022 German models. The colors are very similar, however they are different.
love it
