I usually see people tying the dropper loop but not adding the hook in the loop prior to the start of it. I like the way you did it. Thanks for improving my technique in tying this.
I learned this many years ago, in the 80's, a old fisherman taught me this rig in Erendida Castro Camp just south of ensenada mex.. Some the best Rock fishing Ever... so Learn from the mouth of experience LIKE DAN...
Thank you for all the info new to fishing here never caught a fish in my life next week going to channel islands...super excited. Your videos have help me make a lot of sense. Hopefully I can catch my first fish ever
Nice job Dan, very clear instructions, I appreciate that. Have you ever tried the twisted dropper loop? It makes the hook strand out more from your line. Start just like you did but after putting the hook on twist the two tag ends in opposite directions. Then proceed like you finished the knot. Haven’t tried it yet. (Did stay at a holiday in express last night though.)A few times my dropper has twisted around the leader but maybe the dropper waste long. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for showing me how to setup a rock cod rig. I am retired now and have time to learn to how catch fish. Any other tips is very valuable to me. Salt and fresh water.
I have question Dan if you are using like two 2oz Bucktails or even one 6-8oz Bucktails do you also have to put sinkers? When do you need to use sinkers? Thx for time and help. I saw a video where u had two Bucktails but didn't see a sinker that's why I ask
I also like using drop shot for halibut. BTW, I made a GoogleMaps page for Dan Hernandez Fishing Adventures, as I saw there wasn't a business page for your private charter
When dropper loop fishin for YT, once the weight hits the bottom, do fish with the reel in gear (like i do for rockfish) OR do i put it in freespool w/clicker on and wait for the YT to take the bait and run before putting in gear to set the hook?
Thank you Dan for your video. I love it, so many helpful tips from you. Sorry for a stupid question. If you fish for a rockfish or scalpin and using bucktail. Do you have to put a bate on a hook or not. Sorry I am a new one. Just sarted.
Tried tying it myself while rock fishing, the deck hand said I put the hook on backwards. He redid it by making the loop first then attaching the hook after. Which way is better
I hope to see all of you at the next fishing club meeting. I think I might get my wife to start volunteering too! When is the next time that the Live Scan will be done at the park? When is the next Kid's Fishing Derby, and where?

if you are fishing in deep water then yes use a sinker, in shallow water I will use 6oz. bucktail on the bottom and 1oz. on the top.
