The emotion these guys perform with is truly incredible. Every time I listen I feel the heartbreak and pain which is encapsulated within the music and visuals. This isn’t a fun show, it’s a gut wrenching one, which is exactly why it’s also one of my favorites.
I love how ballsy they are with the snares. Those features are so exposed for so long, but they are SO tasteful and not just crazy fast rhythms. Immense restraint from a writing standpoint. This show is perfectly written.
can we just take a moment to appreciate all the amazing snare features Broken City has done so far and will continue to do? because I think this year is the best so far

I think it's really cool they were able to let Deanna still play. Hell, i would have tried to get her a platform and put her out on the floor somewhere so people could see her drive to want to be there and compete.
@@mase8832 She had a leg injury (torn meniscus?) mid-season, so she performed in a wheel-chair with the front ensemble. Inspirational for her to keep performing throughout the season, honestly.
The girl who was the bass 1 was lowkey my inspiration. The same week the SCPA 2022 champs was happening, I had to get surgery to remove a lump in my upper thigh and I still went to champs because she went anyway
@@maybemooch Yeah I was in like 8th grade or a freshman when I commented this lol I didn’t know much. I think you know who I am. You gave me lessons and I am one of Fernando’s students.
Does anyone know if the feedback from 1:40-1:55 was intentional? I remember being horrified when I heard it at finals because I thought their music effect score would tank, but I remembered that they added feedback after the snare break in the 2017 show and was wondering if it was part of the show.
Drumline Archives I don’t even remember the feedback, it was always just so loud in that section, I’m guessing that the mics just picked up more than it could handle. The feedback in 2017 came from the crowds reaction being so loud. There was a musical cue to continue into the closer that a lot of marching members couldn’t hear, so it made it quite difficult to know when the closer actually started. Sounds like it isn’t too out of place, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was intentional and no one told me about it
If anyone knows (not speculation i wanna know the actual way) how they started the movement at the beginning together, please tell me. It is so incredibly impressive.
6:19-6:25 .. I’ve listened with headphones like 20 times in a row. Is that dirt from the recording or was that a major tear?? I never noticed until now
He replied to a comment on another vid asking the same question. He said he wrote the lyrics just for the show, so I don't think they can be found anywhere else :(
BCP didn't have a clear theme, with their really cryptic lyrics, which you basically NEED to have, otherwise it's hard to get a good music effect or visual effect. One of the visual effect judges put them in 6th place, so that hurt their score. Rhythm X only beat them .0125, which is absurdly small.
The lyrics from the top of the show to the snare feature were written specifically for the show by Adam Watts so there's no source song for the unfortunately. The lyrics and most of the front ensemble music from the snare feature to the quad feature are from iRussi - Fell in Love With a Thief. The last movement is taken from Adam Watts - Love You More (which also seems to discreetly sample the beginning of Twitch for most of the song). Hope this helps. :)
This is the source, actually. The opening vocals, with that line, was written and recorded by Adam Watts specifically for this show. Adam Watts has some albums and EPs out, two of which are released through Broken City Artists, and has a few songs accommodating BCP shows (Love You More is his song playing in the closer).
as much as i love bcp i hate the "whoos" at non-whoo worthy moments LOL. as fans we are entitled to hype whatever we want but i guess the passing of ruffs around the snareline doesn't quite whoo me. cool snare feature tho that certainly changed the activity.
to me, this is the story of a lost and disturbed man finding a way out of his shell, suffering alone for some great time, he feels that he is a failure to society and nobody has ever valued him. When the time arises, he feels frightened about the feelings he develops for a specific woman, and fears the consequences of commitment. Ultimately, he surrenders his anger and mistrust, allowing himself to fall in love with her, until they are finally whole.
Former cop Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg) sees a chance at redemption for past sins when New York City's Mayor Nicolas Hostetler (Russell Crowe) calls on him for a special job. Hostetler thinks his wife, Cathleen (Catherine Zeta-Jones), is having an affair and that it may hurt his chances for re-election. However, a bigger scandal than expected pulls in Billy right at the start of his investigation. Double-crossed by the mayor, Billy begins a relentless quest for justice.

Do you mean gut wrenching as like emotinal or sad cause I feel like it's very passionate. Except like the last 30 seconds lol

Judge: "yeah guys the attack of that snare feature was not together."
what
the snare feature is a repeated segment by 10 people. the joke is they weren't supposed to play it together.
oh lol I get it now i thought you meant at 2:59

Elias Villalobos especially considering dienna is not even close to them at all
Weren’t there 5 basses at the start? What happened to her?
gavin lively she tore her meniscus (i think) mid-season and performed the rest of the season in a wheelchair up with the front ensemble.
Captain kiwi Still the craziest thing to this day. I
WOW!!!! This might be the best recording of any show in my marching arts career... Thanks so much for this!
You marched in this?!

Whoever is playing glock is killin it for sure.
Source Music:
Love Without Instruction - iRussi
Love You More - Adam Watts
Rip the rest lmao
The vocals following the snare break is part of iRussi's "Fell in Love With a Thief"
What about the song from the beginning of the show
Not sure; I listened to all the new Adam Watts songs, and I never came across those verses. Maybe a special vocal sample for Broken City?
Christian Linschoten ive been looking for it all day :(
Christian Linschoten unreleased song from he’s previous album.
The effect where they all freeze at 1:52 gives me chills everytime
probably my favorite show this year
Bluecoats 2016 vibes in the Opener

Broken City and X are probably the 2 hottest snare features
