Buy the best product at the price point you can for what you want it to do at the time you want to buy it. Love the channel and your approach to every product being judged on it's own merit, good or bad. Or in some cases both! Great content as always.

      Well, I am pretty sure that the main reason a lot of reviewers don't like Traxxas is because the don't give any commission. Bangood is advertising up to 28% commission from sales, and on top of that Traxxas almost never sends rc for review, so it's more convenient to make a videos investing just your time than investing time and money and not getting any commission, just relaying on add revenue

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  Год назад +18

      Completely wrong... and Banggood will never give 28% on RC products..most people doing RC Bangood stuff will get about 6%. Amain do an Affiliate program, so anything you can buy on Amain (including Traxxas) will get you a small percentage.
      Traxxas send out new stuff to a handful of US RUclipsrs, but they don't bother with the rest of the world as the US is their biggest market.
      I never make videos based on how much commission I can make... I make videos based on how much interest I think there will be.... and a good example is that i've not bothered with the New Rlaarlo video yet as RUclips is saturated, so I'll actually lose Affiliate income because by the time my videos done most of the Hype would have been and gone.
      Just to note as well.. I spent more on these 2 TRX4-M's than the commission I made from Banggood last month 😅

    Tomley, if you have a spare Traxxas TQI radio you can pair it to the trx4m. This will allow you to adjust your throttle expo and make the modulation very smooth. If you pair that with a set of the optional crawler gears the low speed modulation is AMAZING!

    Fast Eddy has a cheaper bearing kit. 3 out of 4 of my stock shocks don’t hold oil. I bout the upgrades and they work better. The drop in transmissions make it super easy to swap from crawler gears to speed gears. What i did was instal the bearing kit and the slow gears into the stock gear box. Then i bought the speed transmission. The fully assembled ones include the bearings. Now if i want to crawl i put in the slow transmission and if i want fast i swap it out. The swap takes about 3 minutes total. Injora already has a bunch of brass and Treal has some on their page(not on amazon yet). Stock tires aren’t bad, but heavy wheels and some of the new Injora Rock Terrains or Comp tires make a big difference. Great review! oh and you will notice a lean to the right side. I had to put 2 spacers in the right rear and 1 in the right front to combat the lean.

I don’t think the value with Traxxas comes with what’s in the box (especially the electronics), but in support and parts/upgrade availability. The instructions with their build kits are excellent. I do think Traxxas prices their stuff too high. I don’t, and won’t, operate Traxxas Lipos as they are too expensive. I think that some people are turned off when companies include proprietary components. Not only people who are thrifty, but those that like to tinker and modify. High prices and proprietary technology will definitely push some people away. Likely Traxxas has some very smart bean counters that have determined that their profitability isn’t taking a hit by losing those customers. Can’t blame those that feel as though Traxxas is a bit greedy and elitist.

    With all your small crawlers maybe you should look for someone in your area that builds trains and the scenic stuff with them and maybe they'd help you make a really scale looking course. Then again, some rocks on a table and a paint roller pan (make like a pool) with some mud or water in it would be really cool too. Nothing beats the real thing of outdoors but soon everything be white. Have a great day Phil and I'm rooting for you against Kevin.

    Can't say I love this one, and it is the only Traxxas I own. Don't think that will be changing anytime soon. The steering binding issue is a dealbreaker for me, and now wasted forty bucks on bearings and it didn't help at all!

  • @dean-does-stuff-81

    All these rc cars that have bearings, Top tip, just get the size of the website and you can easily order them from a bearing seller. I live in the netherlands and found a place on google. They sent me out all the ones for the rustler, and they cost me a fraction of the price than the rc shop...

    I get where you are coming from in terms of Traxxas. It is quite possible/reasonable to like their product but dislike their practices. These little crawlers look great and I won't lie, I wouldn't mind one, but for the price it should be a tad better equipped and for god sake I wish they'd quit the nonsense with the batteries.
    I have four Traxxas cars btw. Traxxas are the Johnnie from Karate Kid of the RC world.

    funny enough you cant set the steering end points on the included transmitter at all. HOWEVER, if you have a TQi transmitter lying around, it will pair up with the trx4m stock electronics and give you the ability to make adjustments. Many people also feel throttle input is smoother with the TQi however I have not experienced this myself.

    Shame about the higher price in the UK versus the US. I'm still tempted by one, but it would be an absolute no brainer if I could get a rolling chassis version and do my own electronics without being stuck in the Traxxas ecosystem!

      Me? I have plenty of videos on the trx-4m. Unless you spend a bunch of money on the axial, the Traxxas will win in large and small spaces. It’s superior out of the box and it’s the same size as the gladiator, the most capable sc24. The steering on the Traxxas is much better. But you can make the scx24 steer better with mods and upgrades. I love my scx24’s but the Traxxas is a better platform to begin with. I’m in the states and only 45 minutes from Traxxas headquarters, so they’re cheap and easy to come by. I’m no fan boy, I just like fun. Whatever you get, I hope you enjoy it! Anymore questions, just holler.
