  • “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin talks about how she has found a niche writing fiction about women in historically Black beach towns. Hostin’s novels provide a beach read escape and also a welcoming to readers of color and an education to readers who don't know Black communities like these exist. In her latest, "Summer on Sag Harbor," the protagonist, Olivia Jones - who first appeared in Hostin's bestseller, "Summer on the Bluffs" - inherits a home in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons.
Hostin talks about her writing style, which includes code switching, underlying conversations about identity and bias, her effort to destigmatize therapy and why getting the blessings of community elders was an important part of her process.

    Illuminating interview!
Two intelligent, charming women discussing a book I’m now likely to read, and a place I’d heard of, and now want to visit.
The chemistry between host and guest is strong, and the interview was both engaging and informative.
    Thanks, Salon!
