No. Reparations are paid by governments for laws they passed that enslaved human beings. Individuals or ancestors are not responsible for following the law. The government is responsible for allowing it to happen. I believe she said her father is African American, so she would be eligible to receive if it was ever passed. I'm actually stunned by this. Even as a black woman myself, I've always felt that Sunny goes way too far with bringing in race into everything. Native Puerto Ricans as well as those of us who are descents of Puerto Rican parents are a mixture of Taino indians, European (Spain) and African!!! Heck, I was born in Jersey and I knew growing up that my maternal great grandparents were Spaniards who ended up in Puerto Rico and had their offspring there in PR. I moved to the island at 4 years of age and grew up seeing the blond/light brown hair with blue or hazel eye color. The European percentage at 60 plus has always been higher than the African and taino since the Spanish American war. You were a little behind in our Puerto Rican history. I'm glad you caught up 👍

Actually you’re incorrect. Her DNA results are 52.5% Sub-Saharan African, 36.8% European (heavily from Spain and Portugal), and 6.5% Native American. She definitely has more African DNA than European.

I find it so hypocritical the amount of time she spends on trying to let everyone know how Puerto Rican and black she is while at the same time denying and rebuking her white slaveowner heritage. What do you mean y'all thought that side of your family was Puerto Rican and not Spanish? Puerto Ricans speak Spanish because most of them are of Spanish descent. Y'all thought y'all were fully or mostly Taíno??? It's impossible to even think about because the Taínos were wiped out a long time ago. I just find it a tad strange y'all were so proud of the idea of being Native American yet didn't have a clue about the history of the indigenous people of Puerto Rico (maybe I just misunderstood though). It's not rare to be from the Spanish-speaking Caribbean islands and have a percentage of Taíno but the percentages are low... even 25% in Puerto Rico where the highest percentages have been recorded is extremely rare. I myself, as a Cuban, have about 10% Taíno in me, but I never doubted I was mostly of Spanish/Portuguese descent. I don't understand where their confusion stems from.
