Go to a site called QRZ.com. Navigate around it and you will learn how to become an amateur radio operator. Amateur doesn't mean beginner in this context. It just means not a paid professional. The site will tell you how to study, give you practice tests that are current, and teach you theory on two way radio concepts. I am an Extra class operator and even own my own repeater several hundred feet in the air. I can take a portable radio and travel 30 miles away in one direction and talk to someone 20 to 30 miles away on the other side of the repeater. Mobile radios can go around 50 miles. The QRZ site will start you on the path for every single thing you will ever need to know because it will link you to other places of expertise. You only take the test once, for about $16. I’ve worn a few different carriers, and I agree with you. Large, cushy shoulder pads doesn’t make the carrier feel comfortable. It’s where they rest on your shoulders. I really like the Velocity Systems carriers, the shoulder straps sit closer to the neck, and the thin but gel like pads are really comfortable. The First Spear Strandhögg can bear a lot of stuff which equals weight, but you can’t tell because of how comfortable it is, and it doesn’t slide down when running a ballistic shield on a Wedge-it with a carabiner.
Mr. Lovell, makes an excellent point... It feels fine for ten minutes walking around the house... Get out and wear it a while... It makes a difference... As always, quality content from a highly experienced professional...
Hey so I have that exact system right now on deployment with me. It is the best plate carrier I’ve come across thus far! You should look into the quarter flaps as well. It helps to slap your gear on much faster when being woken up in your tent by bad guys dropping stuffs in your small FOB.
These videos make a lot of sense I thought I wanted the biggest most armored looking puffy carrier so I’d have the most protection and with side plates etc. and that the thinner smaller ones was just cheaper, I finally ordered one today and didn’t get the side plates like I thought I wanted because I’m a tall skinny guy and I need it to not be bulky and need flexibility and fitment etc. Now I need to learn about what to put on it and how to set up that all and what not

Great back pack joke! I do appreciate that fact that you tell people they need to pack their kit for them and their circumstances, not some youtuber. Great job!
I really like the way it tucks in at the shoulders. I'm a smaller female with a DD chest, and that is the issue I have with most carriers as well. Thanks for the review. We are looking into new vests now, don't necessarily need new ones, but ya know, why not.
Great vid! Thank you for going through the what and why with the how mixed in. I have all the gear and have messed with how it was set up but never really could get a great feel on the set up. I re-setup after watching this and my setup feels a lot better. Thank you!
I really like the idea of that back panel. I do a lot of stuff in the old ALICE gear, but have been wanting to get a plate carrier that can at least go under that for a while. I have a few options that I am looking at, as well

When I was first looking for a plate carrier, it was a tie between the jpc 2.0 and the scarab, which brought to my attention by this video, the only reason I got the jpc was because the cumberbund was a little bit more riggid which helped while wearing side plates,
"if you look at them the wrong way they just fall to ashes" never heard a more accurate description of Pigs, they're really comfortable and dont even feel like theyre there, but god damn they wear out fast
Thanks for the info on the gloves, I have several pair of the PIGs that I have not used much. I wear out a pair of Mechanix gloves in just one year of yard work, the index finger and thumb pads wear out.
I would love almost everything you got in this setup but I just don’t have the money for it. It’s amazing how expensive this stuff is. I put an ifak together for myself and it cost over $100. By the time I put this setup together i would probably be up over a grand. I don’t need to max out anymore of my credit cards!
If you go to places like the Reddit sub r/GunAccessoriesForSale or www.tacswap.com or even ebay you can find al ot of this stuff 2nd hand for fractions of retail, if you're patient. Except plates usually gotta go retail there.

@@MrJeffrop but are they worth having the option to run it on your system or is it just another tacticool feature you really don't need or hardly use? I could see a few reasons I could run it on my set-up but is it worth the extra weight when stocked for whatever you would use it for and would it ultimately be worth the few inches you'd be raised of the deck while I'm the prime position just like running your mag pouches directly on your chest? Oh yeah last question, when the bad ass war fighter fanny pack is loaded with gear, will it flop around and beat your nuts all to hell?🤔
I wanna thank you for your teachings and knowledge for this channel...your ranger Service. My close friend was a ranger 3rd and 75th in 2005. Awsome guy...yeah. Party on!! Wayne! :) thanks you
TQ is the only piece of kit I will never scoff at in high numbers on one's person. The day that someone makes ballistic protection pack comprised almost entirely of tourniquets shall be a one to remember. (Obviously joking: however, one could envision an interwoven panel of Aramid or synethic TQs arranged in such a manner to be of some ballistic benefit)
Careful with the shoulders protection, because the subclavian arteries are a pair of large arteries in the thorax that supply blood to the thorax itself, head, neck, shoulder and arms. If you get shot in the shoulders area, that arteries can get compromised and you are gonna bleed a lot, and it is difficult to stop that bleeding.
always love your videos and your balance of serious and humor.. "Holy tourniquet central. . Yeah, I like tourniquets and they weigh like .01 oz so back up off me bro". :) and the "Bad sense of humor" .. yeah.. that's what I'm talking about. so good.. Would love to come out to meet you and take one of your classes some day.. sooner than later.
Oh man, the shoulder bit is spot on. Our issued vest was horrible with that, you could never get your weapon seated well, either it was slipping and sliding on the vest, or holding on by the very bottom tip of the stock. Never felt comfortable, or reliable.
The pistol mags being obstructed is a no-go for me. I use a plate ifak from Phokus Group that I love. Different kit for different mission specs, obviously. The first time I realized Ifaks were a no-go on my side was doing a Cas-run with the a litter. My foream and wrists were ON FIRE and losing strength from the pressure of the USMC issued ifak while using said arm for a section of the litter. I could physically feel it cutting off my circulation lol. And then it also impeded my time with reloading my pistol.
I'm just an every day ish carrier. I love how you present your content, and have taken a ton of your advice. The other day my dad, which has combat experience 101st airborne 68-70 I showed him my chest rig. And his comment was "boy if you're carrying that you better bring a shovel" has combat change that much? Or tactics change so much?
Curious as to what body armor you have in your carrier or what you would recommend for plates. I have AR-500 plates and they’re great, but heavy as hell.
Some good points. I'd like to see you do some pistol mag changes with your rifle slung, though. With that big med kit and your rifle slung over your pistol mags, it seems like mag changes would be kind of a CF.
August 2018: What do you need all that combat gear for? August 2020: Oh, now I get it...

TNP Sheepdog John has no chin under that beard but another fist

Wat do you think bout the sig p320
@@WarriorPoetSociety seriously though, what was it like growing up as Chuck Norris' secret genetic clone?
When I was first looking for a plate carrier, it was a tie between the jpc 2.0 and the scarab, which brought to my attention by this video, the only reason I got the jpc was because the cumberbund was a little bit more riggid which helped while wearing side plates,
Coolest dude on you tube. Respect brother.
I forgot what vid it was but when you said I'm not paranoid I'm prepared is one of my favourite lines from you
"if you look at them the wrong way they just fall to ashes"
never heard a more accurate description of Pigs, they're really comfortable and dont even feel like theyre there, but god damn they wear out fast
Brother , RANGER DANGER Love the sense of humor. Keep up the good work
😍wowsers😍😘
I’m going to make out with you.
@@WarriorPoetSociety HaHa 😂
Y'all 2 is funny😂
@@WarriorPoetSociety ummm.... no videos about that though k? 😆😆
MOOOOM! DAAAAD! GET A ROOOOOMM!!!
Thanks for the info on the gloves, I have several pair of the PIGs that I have not used much. I wear out a pair of Mechanix gloves in just one year of yard work, the index finger and thumb pads wear out.
20,000 dollars in gear, twists right ankle in door frame! Out to green zone! Haha Game Over.
Don’t you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby!
@@WarriorPoetSociety
HAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!!!
He has the right boots with ankle support, it’s a trick to bring you thinking he is hurt
@@WarriorPoetSociety Hey John. Good stuff. How do these plates compare to ar500 plates? Thank you
@@WarriorPoetSociety hey John what plates are you using in your system?
It’s great to see John operating! Well, that’s 75th Rangers for me as a Canadian soldier.
I would love almost everything you got in this setup but I just don’t have the money for it. It’s amazing how expensive this stuff is. I put an ifak together for myself and it cost over $100. By the time I put this setup together i would probably be up over a grand. I don’t need to max out anymore of my credit cards!
Right?! I feel the same. Oh well, condor it is!
If you go to places like the Reddit sub r/GunAccessoriesForSale or www.tacswap.com or even ebay you can find al ot of this stuff 2nd hand for fractions of retail, if you're patient. Except plates usually gotta go retail there.
Thanks for sharing the radio your using, I'm a radio guy and ham . I'm rocking a XTS5000 VHF ,love the commercial radios. Got a APX7k for company a radio .
Admit it ! The "dangler" is just a tactical version of the dad's fanny pack ! :D
Sof guys are still running fanny packs lol
Lord Nevermore hahahahahahaha
Wallet, camera, skittles, chapstick, single-serve Starbucks, you need a place for all that, mmm k.
Tactical Tailor makes a sweet "dangler" fanny pack. And yes when you slap it on, you you get an awkward feeling that you are a badass operator, who is also wearing a fanny pack. Mixed emotions.
Great stuff! Boomsticks and blasters, you gotta love his older content. I'll say it again, more charm and no ads...

Because we can. But also because according to the constitution, it is our job as civilians to keep our country free.
One of the best "setup" videos i had ever seen
I can't believe he wasn't fast enough.
LOVE watching your videos! You remind me so much of my TC!
The moment he reached for his pack I tried keeping a straight face and when he said some of us laughed I lost composure haha
Stephen Cline I did as well I laughed historically!!!!
It's always important to LARP... i mean practice.
SAPI plates won’t protect those arteries no matter how big your vest is so why bother with something uncomfortable for long use
I definitely want to see more on the belt.
Nevermind. Just found your video.
A6 Tacticle! That’s what I got! Floating chest plates! Love this stuff fellas keep up the good work!
Half my day is spent seeing how much gear I can put on my vest to piss off the Sgt lol
always love your videos and your balance of serious and humor..
"Holy tourniquet central. . Yeah, I like tourniquets and they weigh like .01 oz so back up off me bro". :)
and the "Bad sense of humor" .. yeah.. that's what I'm talking about.
so good..
Would love to come out to meet you and take one of your classes some day.. sooner than later.
Nice setup...need that Warrior Poet belt going to order now.
I want the warrior poet belt as well, alas sizes stop right before mine. Blue Alpha makes one I can special order, but it wouldn't have the cool logo.
:(
Oh man, the shoulder bit is spot on. Our issued vest was horrible with that, you could never get your weapon seated well, either it was slipping and sliding on the vest, or holding on by the very bottom tip of the stock. Never felt comfortable, or reliable.
“I carry what I want and they weigh 0.1 oz so back off me bro” 😂👍 Love it.
"I get to carry what I want... so back up off me bro." That's probably the meanest thing I've ever heard him say.
The belt is the best I've tried. It's really awesome.
My back hurts even more than usual just thinking just thinking about wearing something like that!
Sure beats the flak jackets though!
Could you say which plates you have?
you have absolutely right tourniquet is never too much, great video congrats
Interested in your choice of plates. Any experience/thoughts on AT Armor S.T.O.P. plates for civilian contingency purposes?
I am a fan of the pouch on top of the mag pouches.
9:38 Words of wisdom right there.
You got me John! I laughed out loud! I love that setup though! I hope to train with you one day!
@6:34 "back up off me bro" had me crying. lol
Tip for your pens. Paracord lanyard and taped them together so you can hang them around your kneck. So you never loose them.
Curious as to what body armor you have in your carrier or what you would recommend for plates. I have AR-500 plates and they’re great, but heavy as hell.
I'm also curious.
TacticalboyHD what is that acronym?
Some good points. I'd like to see you do some pistol mag changes with your rifle slung, though. With that big med kit and your rifle slung over your pistol mags, it seems like mag changes would be kind of a CF.
Would really like a LRP class
