It's been a while since our last M&L song. In fact, if you don't count the 2018 In the Final remake, we haven't had a new one since the 2017 finale: Adventure's End.
Well we're finally following up that Dream Team remix with yet another Dream Team tune that you all have been waiting for: The Final Antasma Battle! (Yes, it also plays during the tutorial, but this is in fact the official song title. :O)
Along with being the #5 most requested song from the 2020 GaMetal Song Ballot, this song recently beat out several other songs in our first ever Request Battle Tournament that I held on the GaMetal Discord a couple of months ago.
Here's to hoping that, despite developer AlphaDream shutting its doors last year, the M&L series will live on sometime in the future with a new game!
...maybe, perhaps, something Legend of the Seven Stars world related, along with a Geno Smash reveal? Plz? :D?

Antasma wins.
People wanted him to be the final boss alongside with Bowser.
Especially for this Antasma is more popular and people want him back.
Bowser made this bat king even more popular so he failed in his plan.
“Skree, how about I use Bowser” “How about you don’t”
Bat-Bowser would have been cool too
I feel like this is the one time Bowser being the surprise final boss makes sense. Especially because in the previous three M&L games he always got used or possessed by the real main antagonist.

The part where bowser betrays him is even sadder when you realize antasma likely wasn’t going to betray him, he legitimately wanted to have a mutual partnership. But bowser’s paranoia from being betrayed made him betray antasma preemptively, making bowser just like those who betrayed him.
No better than the betrayers themselves...
Actually no it was implied antasma was planning on betraying bowser
Poor Antasma, if Bowser haven't had to feel paranoia, they would easily defeated the Mario Bros, they could've taken over the mushroom kingdom together but at the end it lead to the fate of Bowser and Antasma partnership broken, so now he has to fight the Mario Bros by his own. That too didn't went well and now he was defeated, if he were to return and had meet Bowser again he probably wouldn't trust him anymore.

It's even more sad because it totally stole that character's ability to shine as a legitimate villain in his own game, just so they could force Bowser into being the big bad once again.
Antasma is a literal nightmare but he doesn't scare me.

Well in expert mode he can actually kill you in said tutorial do the double damage buff.
.. and since it's a tutorial battle, it's actually one of the scariest bosses in the game

This is the perfect way to hype you up for the rest of the game. Not to mention, you are previewed the epic design of his final battle before you end up fighting him officially.
If you listen closely, you can hear the frustration of the people trying to beat Antasma X.

This is the most intense tutorial I've ever seen and heard in any video game ever, thanks Dream Team
Christopher Moon you're one of few youtube account I see almost everywhere I go in comment sections.
This game tutorial is the only epic and really enjoyable tutorial I've ever seen.
I think you should see just shapes and beats tutorial
The most epic thing is that Antasma is fighting you with a final boss theme even if he isn't the final boss, this makes you think how much Antasma is serious during this tutorial fight: he figths you with "The Final Antasma Battle" playing, it's like if he wants to stop you at 1-1, he wants to erase your chances of victory before you even have one, it's a really smart guy: he knows that if he lets you go away you will level up, gain new brothers attack, abilities and experience and then you could probably end his game.
If he wasn't serious then why he was fighting with "The Final Antasma Battle" instead of "Antasma theme" or just the normal battle theme?
It's "The Final Antasma Battle" because this is the last time you fight him, but you survive and later on you face this bat again,
The second time this song plays once more but now he knows his chance of victory are really small.
In the first fight the song is supposed to rapresent the absolute supremacy Antasma has, he WILL win, he believes in himself and he knows this two heroes can't do anything to him, this is the final battle of the plumbers against Antasma.
The second time the song is meant to rapresent his final stand against the protagonists of the story, he is left alone and betrayed,
Even a nightmare can feel fear, this is the final battle of Antasma against the plumbers.
I think this is why the tutorial is so amazing.
Well, this are my thoughts about Antasma personality, battle theme and about the best tutorial in existence.

Since I've done a reference to one of the two Omega Flowey battle theme ("Your Best Nightmare") I also referenced "Finale", his other battle theme.
Since Antasma his like a nightmare and it's "The final Antasma Battle" so it becomes The "Finale" Antasma battle.
Antasma should have definitely been a boss for smash ultimate with this cool remix love it

This is not only my favorite Mario and Luigi game, but also my favorite RPG on the 3DS. Too bad we won't see any Mario RPGs during this decade. Not only AlphaDream want bankrupt, the Paper Mario franchise will forever be in the an action-adventure category. I just hope Nintendo will other developers for the Mario and Luigi series.

Have not finished that game yet. Bought it on Wii U, but found the split screens unnatural. I eventually bought the DS version, but have been too busy to play it. And I love the concept of the shroobs. I have just got a soft spot for Antasma and HIS concept. His design, demeanor, powers, and themes just click to me. Plus, he is in my personal favorite game of the series.
I will get to beating Partners in Time as soon as I can though. Though I don't know if that will change my opinion on Antasma. All the villains in M&L are amazing, along with the series as a whole. He is just my pick.

While I love the twist of Bowser betraying Antasma and usurping him as the final boss, as opposed to being pushed to the sidelines like in most Mario RPGs, I do think Antasma deserved better than what he got...
