Hi friends, if you are new here, welcome to the sunflower family, I’m Holly Auna. We do a “Monday crochet” live stream every Monday at 5pm ct followed by a new video! On this channel, we do crochet, gardening, vlogs, renfaires, DIYs, thrifting, silly hair things and so much more! 🌻🧶👩🏻🌾🪴🐸
A tip I have is specifically if you wanna get henna (ik the tn renn faire has multiple booths for it) do not do not wear jewelry that you may potentially have to take off for it, especially because that risks losing it! Also, don’t let that be the first thing you do! Since you have to let the henna dry or whatever, that can sometimes have an effect on what you can do! So just take that into consideration for if you want a henna tattoo!!🌻
Your crocheted fairy shrug is gorgeous! I think trinket trading started off as “favors” at the Agoura Ren Faire (the original Faire that the Pattersons started in 1963). Favors were flowers, ribbons, pins, etc anything period correct (Elizabethan). We gave them to other participants that were friends (or more 😊). They were collected on our bodices (or shirts/doublets for the men). I still have some from 1985 when I was 18 and started “working” there in a Guild. I miss the period correctness of old Faire, but also love the cosplay and fantasy of the newer faires!!
I actually have a shoe recommendation!!! Doc Martens are PERFECT for Ren fair, you can add charms and designs to them to spice them up, but they still look good just the way they are and blend in with the ren fair aesthetic. If you have an old pair that’s super worn in, even better because they’re the comfiest shoes I own. And they’re perfect for walking!!!
I would LOVE to attend one!! I've been a bit hesitant though. I have pretty bad social anxiety, heck I took everything in me to start talking in the live streams! If I would attend, I would probably go as a gothic sorcerer.
A Gothic sorcerer would be so cool!!! I absolutely understand, honestly part of the reason I love Renaissance festivals is because they are the one place with big crowds that I don’t feel super anxious for some reason
All I can say it try it out. I'm much more of an introvert but this past weekend I went to a ren faire without my much more extroverted friend and I honestly had such a good time and I'm so glad I did! The vibe is so accommodating and you can choose to either talk to someone (a compliment on garb is a good ice breaker) or just keep to yourself and take in vibes. Either way you'll have a good time!
On my first renfaire i wore a skirt that was 100% polyester and i was dying in it. Please please please wear natural fabrics, they look better, they feel better, and theyre so much comfyer. I also like to wear converse to renfaire because they are comfy.
I went to the TN ren faire on the second weekend. It was fun for sure! I'd suggest having a hand fan on your person too so you can fan yourself if you get too hot 🙏
I definitely needed this lol!! My first ren fair was last weekend, can’t believe I got to meet you! Thank you for the ducky! Love your videos! Can’t wait to see more
Omgosh hiii it was so great to meet you!!!! 🌻🍄🐤I can’t believe we got rained out I was so sad 😭 I was actually planning on filming this video at the faire before we got rained out lol 😂 but it was still such a fun day!
This was SOOO helpful thank you me and my father were thinking/ talking about going to one this year for some good family bonding and this help especially the stuff maybe not to wear XD thank u so much for the help and all so your outfit looked fabulous hope u have A beautiful day night or whatever time it is :]
I took my parents to the Renaissance Festival this past weekend it was so much fun they dressed up and everything! I hope y’all go and have the most amazing time!
I've never done ren faire crafts with tabs, but Ive made belts. I learned it from a family friend who would sell tab belts to pay for his cancer treatment. Hes still alive and continues to sell them, donating most of the funds to a cancer foundation
Water can be a big deal on hot days, Michigan lines for water have been 30+ minutes before. If you're feeling down that's way too long to wait, in the sun!
A little thing that I randomly thought of! If you wear Converse shoes to a ren faire, if you want to accessorize them, grab something you want to put on them, and glue it onto a pin. I’ve never been to a retire but I love the idea of it!
I have been to only one so far it was a blast walked around with friends for around 7 hours. I got a D20 die from some nice person in a beautiful outfit. That sort of started off my dice collection lol. Knowing that fairy folk in lots of stories are sort of tricksters. I think in most cases I would politely decline a gift from them. XD
I miss all my friends at the Maryland Renaissance Faire(Festival) we moved to Detroit Michigan eleven years ago but have not gone to the Renaissance Faire here. I was a Fairever Pass holder and usually could be found at Madame Jean’s table at The White Hart. We lost her last year I like to think she and our other Faire friends that have gone to the beyond are at a perpetual Faire. I have some wonderful moccasins from Medieval Moccasins if you need arch support I recommend getting inserts. 😉🐈🐈⬛💖🌈
Going to take my husband and our kids to their first Texas Renaissance Festival! So excited! It’s Oktoberfest theme that weekend but I just wanna dress up whimsical..
Aww, the middle TN Renn Faire is one of the only things I miss living across the country. It’s easily the coolest, most random and unexpected Renn Faire I’ve ever seen. Do they still do castle tours?
@@HollyAuna if you’re going to the one near Franklin, the person that built the castle you can see from 840 is the one who hosts the Renn. Faire. And the castle tour used to be free as a part of your admission tickets. But it’s been at least 7 years since I’ve been, so a lot could have changed in that time. If you can tour, and film, I for one would love to see a castle tour vlog!
Can you talk about the trinket trading symbol? I was looking up more information on the topic and a lot of places mentioned displaying the symbol and I'm not quite sure what it means
I’m going back to the fair next weekend. I will try to do a video of it. I didn’t know about the trinket trading sign until after the fair this weekend when I went online to look up the full banned items list I saw the faire talking about it on their website. But I will keep y’all posted.!!!
I'm a mom and have been a scout leader. With kids bring a pack of wet wipes. There is never a bathroom close or enough napkins. Especially with turkey legs.🍗
So is it just me but all that hair tie up those candles & dental adhesive for those ears & thanks for all the info another chicken here ,have an awesome day 🎉😊
I'm very curious as well. I understand glitter (environment), liquids (spilling & potentional poison hazard) and food (safety). But I don't understand why they would ban keychains, bookmarks and jewelry.
Lol this is so true. I guess that is going to just depend on which Renaissance faire you go to and how big it is. Like when I went to the Michigan Renaissance faire for two days the first day I just looked and the second day I shopped lol
But a few of the smaller ones I have been to just have one small loop pretty easy to walk through in about an hour or less, then loop number two I shopped lol
I would Google for your specific Renaissance festival to check the rules where you are going, but I know at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival ages two and younger are free and you can bring them!
@HollyAuna are you the one that gave me the duckie at Nor Cal Renaissance Faire on Saturday (9/21/24)? I had never seen your videos before… anyway if it was you sorry I didn’t have a trinket for you (I never heard of trinket trading before this year and I’ve been going for decades.)
Usually booths where the vendors do trinket trading they will be marked with something that says they do trinket trading (this does not mean they’ll trade for their items just their designated trinkets) and with people in general I usually don’t ask to trade I just give them a trinket and if they have a trinket they’ll give me one back 💖
The ones I’ve gone to have probably averaged around $30 per person! But every faire is going to be different. I mentioned this I think in number nine, but usually you save money if you buy your tickets online before you go.
@@HollyAunaomg!! I’m so happy to be apart of the sunflower family!! I really do love your channel and I could go on and on about how much your channel has helped me, but just thank you! 🫶🏼🌻

Felt that lol! The first few faires, I didn't think to bring a fan with me. It sucked 😅
I agree 100% with all of your list. The last time I attended a RenFair I wore my belly dancing costume. It's comfy to be in all day.
awe yay! and yes be comfy!!!!
I’m going to my first ren fair this weekend in TN with my friend group and I’m so excited!!
thats awesome i hope yall had a blast!
Lace dyed green would make pretty, lightweight "moss"

I can’t remember does Michigan let you bring in your own water? One thing I loved about Maryland was they were giving out water for free.!

I never pay attention to the themed weekends lol like last weekend in Tennessee it was the Viking weekend and I still went as a Druid elf 🧝🏼♀️
