I have had a pilot's license with an instrument rating for quite a few years. I can't fly any more and miss it terribly. The closest I can get to real flying now is with FS2020 and so I keep it as close to my actual experience as I can for my reminiscing. So It's a C172, C182, a Mooney (my favorite airplane to actually fly), sometimes the TBM 930. I really don't care how many Boeing or Airbus models there are or fighter jets or how many exotic world airports are available. I stay in the USA and pretend that I'm still doing what I used to love doing. With addon's like BeyondATC, FS 2020 is not a terrible substitute for the real thing. I would be interested in upgrading to 2024 if they have improved things like the ground crew that walks into my propeller, or the shuttle bus that runs over my plane on the taxiway, or when the sim ("live weather") has clear skies while the NWS METAR reports an overcast. I will be watching for such improvements before I buy.
That was really nice to read and thank you for sharing. That's why flight sim is one of the best, you can do what you want. If that's all you want to fly in, then that's completely respectable and it's cool that it's fairly close to the real thing for you too. Hopefully 2024 will be an upgrade in the areas you've mentioned too! I think we can all agree we hope the ground handling and airport ground vehicle issues gets a big upgrade too! Hope to see you in 2024!
I hope you are using Virtual reality. It is a complete game changer. I am in the same position as you,((having had a pilots license and then loosing it for medical reasons, I have found virtual reality flying very rewarding. And you don't have to pay for gas or landing fees.

I never bought any of the aircraft from 2020 as I mostly like to fly the 172, the vision jet and the longitude. Now that I have adult money, I treated myself and got the collectors edition.
That'll definitely be a good upgrade for you then! Super jealous of the collectors edition, really wanted to purchase that if only for the AN 225 model! Hope you enjoy it
I'm glad you asked people to keep it nice, but for some crazy reason, people will still find a way to express extreme hatred to each other over a video game.
Exactly what I've been thinking. I was feeling a bit short-changed as I'd bought most of the 'planes that were released as specials alongside updates for the past 4yrs (I shudder to think how much I've spent on add-ons over that time). However, when I looked at the Aviator additional aircraft I found that I only have about half of them. So, while someone who has none of them will pay about £2 per aircraft (rough estimate), I'll be paying about £4 per aircraft. So, still excellent value (if you ignore the lack of reward for your brand loyalty) when you consider that buying them separately would be about £20 each (again, rough estimate)... Also, though you may never fly some of them, you'll see them (hopefully) when someone else is flying them instead of a generic skin, like a 737 (or other standard 'plane) instead of the aeroplane they're actually flying but you don't have in your hangar (don't get me started on that one - there was never any enthusiasm to resolve this in MSFS 2020)... Aviator Ed for me. Short-term pain for longtime gain 👍
I've always been put off by the cost of buying them individually, but it feels like a real bargain. 100% agree on the savings aspect, in my case it works out and I think it's great for those who have very few of them, or none. Can't wait to get hands on with 2024
I too have purchased the Aviator addition for pretty much the same reasons as you did. I just figured ah heck what the hell lol, it's all good. My advice to people is do what works best for you, buying one addition over another doesn't make anyone any better or worse than anyone else. See you all in 2024, Cheers!
Absolutely! Sure everyone has their own reasons for each edition. I feel like it's all about personal value and we seem to be on the same page! See you in 2024 fellow aviator! 🛩
These days I am able to resist the temptation of buying the 'local legends' aircraft. Most of the time they disappoint or I simply don't fly them more than once. Quit happy with my quality addons such as the BS TBM and dukes, the Fenix A320's, BEA146, PMDG 737, 777, HPG helicopters, Commanche PA24 and so on. Expensive, but giving so much joy everytime I fly those. Enjoy your Edition, I will go for the Premium Deluxe for the Airbus, the Saab and the PC24. Cheers!
Yeah I'd resisted buying them individually due to the pricing. But I'm sure I'll make good use of them lol. Out of the ones you mention which one would you say has been the best for you? I've been looking for some quality addons to add to my collection. Me too, very much looking forward to all the new aircraft in the new som, thanks!
@@monan101 It depends on the kind of flying you like. The Black Square TBM is my favorite for short flights on Vatsim. For airliners, the PMDG 737 and Fenix. Although I have many of the aircraft that are porting over (and updating), I purchased the aviators edition as a way of saying thanks and supporting a legendary game I’ve played for decades.
Totally agree! It's great to support the devs, 2020 gave me a lot of value for money and I have no doubt that 2024 is also going to be everything 2020 was but far better
I'm a beginner and had the same approach MSFS 2024 will be my first real exp with the game. I saw the prices on Aerosoft's website and went 'well if the aviator gives me this much while the addons cost an arm why not take the Aviator (Limited-Physical)'
I am in the process of updated from FSX to MS2024, mainly because my computer finally decided to die. Just one small question does MS2024 or even 2020 do free flight, so you can just pick a random airport to fly from and to? With any plane of your choice, payloads weather etc.
It makes perfect sense to buy the premium Aviator edition - clearly. It comes down first to money, of course, so if you have it, love and enjoy flight simulation, always have and always will, even with minimum flight controls, have a capable computer, all the extra aircraft make up the difference. However, having said all this, if it was easily affordable, like the other more popular games, I don't believe it would take away from the quality of the game. So many more people would definitely buy it. This price will make a lot of people shy away from it, It always comes down to money
Yeah I agree on the affordability side. It does price a lot of people out. But I also guess people got to get paid. It'll likely come down in price as time goes on too. Sure I'll see it for £100 in a year and regret spending that extra haha. But it definitely works out as value for money for me right now anyway.
I got the aviator edition as well simply because the only one I purchased previously was the 225. I - as you did - broke down the cost per plane, and thought was the best way to go.. even if I only fly them a few times - I have the option to just jump in and fly something different

I may consider getting one other plane and, as mentioned, we can purchase individual planes (now, for those already in the sim) when 2024 comes out. Since I am on a budget, I purchased the Standard edition (with 28 new planes) and I may purchase the Pilatus PC-24 when it is on sale.
Thank you very much! Absolutely understand your point. If its not something you need, then you don't need to buy it. Wouldn't make sense to purchase something you're not going to use. The standard edition alone has plenty of aircraft. I just want as many aircraft as possible haha.
Honestly, I'm more about the airports than the number of aircrafts. Because yeah, I'm not interested in flying a lot of planes, especially the very older ones. But, realism comes when it is about the departure and destination. Especially at night. I get "playing" with other planes never used before. That's cool. But, more often than not I'm using the sim for things thar are realistic to what I think would actually happen in real life. Great vid though. I appreciate you showing the comparison. That really does show what's what. If I get the Aviator package though, it'll be simply for the airports.
Great point. I hadn't even really considered the airports that were coming in this edition, guess I just saw cool planes haha. Any particular airport you're most excited for? Appreciate the kind words!
If you have premium deluxe 2020 you already have all the additional airports on 2024. You just need to purchase the standard 2024 package from the same store you bought premium deluxe 2020 and you'll get all the premium airports and planes you had in 2020. No need to spend more than £70!
@@stormbirdweather7047 depends on your budget and preference. All the 2020 planes will carry over, so you could get any edition that suits you. You could even use the standard gamepass version if you have that, so there's no extra cost. Really just depends what you want to have included
All the planes will show. You won't have to download anything but the base game. Which is around 30gb the rest is all streamed in live from the cloud. Any planes you own should be instantly available!
That's my logic too but I never pre-order anything and will wait for the release, reviews, inevitable bug fixing, price decreases and then probably buy the Aviator Edition :-) Meanwhile I've been offered 3 months of Xbox Game Pass PC so if it's not delayed I'll be able to try it out anyway.
The 3 months is excellent! I'm usually against pre order for the most part. But I'm sure even if there's bugs and issues I'll still enjoy playing. Also got plenty of ideas for videos to make too. You might get a good discount sometime in the future for aviator as well. That's if they're still doing it post launch.
I can see the programmer's rewarding the players that buy the aviator edition that dive right into the career mode. Since it looks like the main gig with Career mode is being able to build your own private company with cargo, and human transport and whatever else they decide to add to the Career mode business model. makes sense when you see what planes the aviator edition has. Just my two cents.
Yeah, wish they'd reward me with an early access copy though 😅 I think most of the aircraft in aviator will fit into the cargo or passenger role, but there's a few that could be use for air ambulance or search and rescue too. The Westland helicopters look like they would. Only time will tell I guess!
Is there any need or requirement to keep previous versions (MSFS 2020) installed for this new version to function properly, or are they completely separate from each other?
The hard drive space they've said should be kept free is about 50gb. But the actual game itself will be around 30gb. Assuming the rest is for rolling cache. Would recommend solid state drive instead of hard drive though
I mostly fly specific 3rd party planes. The absolute star to me is the HotStart Challenger 650 on X-Plane 12 - I doubt MSFS 2024 will change this. I mean, over 10000 feet the ground graphics doesn't really count. And then A2A Comanche on the MSFS. These 2 planes together were around USD 160, and there are others, mostly for X-Plane 12. So I originally was thinking about getting the Standard version and flying my 3rd party planes. But then - looking at my collection of 3rd party planes - I was thinking; getting some additional airports, and much more planes for USD 100 is a great bargain. I have a simple rule - if I flight/play as many hours as many dollars I paid for games/planes, I am good with the money that I spent. With that additional USD 100 I probably will get that value even if I won't fly most of the planes more than once.
@@phaidros100 100% agree. But I will definitely try to use them all, and also try to use them more than once haha. There's just a lot of video ideas it gives me too
Aviator for me as well. Just not the planes but airports as well, I figure over time and buying some I the planes I may want later I will end up paying the $200 anyway. I think I may have already with 2020 or close to it.
Welcome fellow aviator! Yes, for me it makes sense because I'd have spent a lot more money buying them individually too. Hope to see you in 2024! Not long to go now
I heard Microsoft and Bill Gates are very poor and in need of financial support, so I decided to do my part and help out by buying the collector's edition. Now, I'm poor. 😆
4:14 pretty sure all of these are the local legends or famous flyers and if you had Deluxe or Premium Deluxe in MS2020 then you could buy them at £8.39 each (non reduced price was £15.99 I think) and the Ford Trimotor was free at time of launch. I own the ones I actually want (11 of them) so for me it makes no sense paying the £60 for 19-planes I don’t want and I am assuming that the ones I’ve got will be in the new sim at 2024 standard for me to download. Of course if you don’t own any and want these in your hanger it still makes a significant saving over the almost £252 they’d cost to buy now! And remember, some of them are Airplane Heaven products so… meh
@@alanharris2799 yeah I think most of them are. They're still.on that reduced price now too. I must have missed the free tri-motor, wish I'd known at the time. Haha i'm sure I'll still get goodness out of them, even the airplane heaven ones
I look at mt X box points and realized I had about $160 worth of points, from playing a few games constantly. No brainer for me to pre order the Aviation addition.
@@monan101 Thank you. You get points for playing, getting to certain levels, maybe buying some planes. I didn't realize it until I saw another RUclips talk about checking your points and converting it. I had 200K in points.
I think that would be a good option if you only want to try it for a while, but if you want to keep it then of course you'd need to buy it anyway. Might make sense for some
Not sure if everyone realises but the premium and deluxe versions of 2024 duplicate the same premium and deluxe versions of 2020. If you already own deluxe premium 2020, provided you buy 2024 from the same store as 2020 you only need to buy the standard version to get the premium or deluxe equivalent of 2024. So as I have premium deluxe 2020 on Steam, buying standard 2024 on Steam will actually give me premium deluxe 2024.
I've not seen this anywhere Kevin. Where was it that you've found that? I know that if you already had the premium deluxe version before, then you will keep the previous premium deluxe aircraft. But not anything about also getting the new ones automatically?
You're very welcome. If you're talking about marketplace purchases, then I'm sure in their latest dev stream they confirmed you'd be able to transfer them too. If its 3pty addons, you just need to copy them to the community folder same as before. Of course we've not seen it in practice yet, so pinch of salt required for now.
Not unless there's a mod for it. They don't want it to be a combat sim. DCS is probably the best for that, that is if you don't mid spending weeks learning which buttons to press.
There are only 2 planes included only in the Aviator's edition that I would fly more than once so it's not worth the extra $100 to me. I went with the Premium Deluxe Edition.

@@stormbirdweather7047 depends on your budget and preference. All the 2020 planes will carry over, so you could get any edition that suits you. You could even use the standard gamepass version if you have that, so there's no extra cost. Really just depends what you want to have included
You don't have to justify nothing to nobody... you do you...
Appreciate the support! You're right haha. Will try to keep that in mind
would this a totally new install separate from FS2020? or all the planes in the deluxe edition in 2020 will be also show in the 2024 too ?
All the planes will show. You won't have to download anything but the base game. Which is around 30gb the rest is all streamed in live from the cloud. Any planes you own should be instantly available!
That's my logic too but I never pre-order anything and will wait for the release, reviews, inevitable bug fixing, price decreases and then probably buy the Aviator Edition :-)
Meanwhile I've been offered 3 months of Xbox Game Pass PC so if it's not delayed I'll be able to try it out anyway.
Imagine the tens of thousands of pounds you ll save on real air travel.
Absolutely! I can only shiver at the thought of what it would cost me to fly all of these aircraft!
Is there any need or requirement to keep previous versions (MSFS 2020) installed for this new version to function properly, or are they completely separate from each other?
As far as I aware you don't need to have the previous version installed and it just syncs up to your profile.
Aviator for me I think it well worth the extra preordered last week
@@meanmicro welcome to the Aviators club!
Same for me. I don't own any of that Payware, so I see it as a massive bargain. It's basically a no-brainer.
Yeah, I feel like it's a bargain for sure. Long as we all get the use out of them aircraft
@@monan101@ monan101 I'll be trying most of them, and there are a few I can see myself spending a lot of time with.
what is the hard drive size for aviator edition?
The hard drive space they've said should be kept free is about 50gb. But the actual game itself will be around 30gb. Assuming the rest is for rolling cache. Would recommend solid state drive instead of hard drive though
@@monan101 Appreciated - I have a 4Tb Samsung SSD 990 Pro - so that should be good enough
@@griffin5012 aw yeah you'll be absolutely fine with that! Plus you can remove the 130gb+ of fs2020 once 2024 is out.
There's just a lot of video ideas it gives me too
@@monan101 absolutely! Amazing long nights are waiting for us!
Hahaha you're doing God's work fellow aviator! Enjoy that beautiful model and the rest of the goodies!
As far as I'm aware any aircraft you own already will just transfer over, so if you've already got the ones you wanted, then that definitely wouldn't make sense yeah. Haha i'm sure I'll still get goodness out of them, even the airplane heaven ones
I look at mt X box points and realized I had about $160 worth of points, from playing a few games constantly. No brainer for me to pre order the Aviation addition.
Wait... xbox give you money for playing games? Why don't they have this on PC? Haha that's an amazing stroke of luck! Hope you enjoy it!
@@monan101 Thank you. You get points for playing, getting to certain levels, maybe buying some planes. I didn't realize it until I saw another RUclips talk about checking your points and converting it. I had 200K in points.
That's incredible tbh. Congrats to you, basically a free game there haha
You forget that one can rent the aircrafts too that one wants to fly.
Won't that be a better option?
I think that would be a good option if you only want to try it for a while, but if you want to keep it then of course you'd need to buy it anyway. Might make sense for some
Not sure if everyone realises but the premium and deluxe versions of 2024 duplicate the same premium and deluxe versions of 2020. If you already own deluxe premium 2020, provided you buy 2024 from the same store as 2020 you only need to buy the standard version to get the premium or deluxe equivalent of 2024.
So as I have premium deluxe 2020 on Steam, buying standard 2024 on Steam will actually give me premium deluxe 2024.
is this right?
I've not seen this anywhere Kevin. Where was it that you've found that? I know that if you already had the premium deluxe version before, then you will keep the previous premium deluxe aircraft. But not anything about also getting the new ones automatically?
You do not get the new ones, as far as i know
Just Pre-Ordered the Aviator Edition myself. CD Keys UK - £121.
Damn! Wish I'd thought of CD Keys now! Good idea tbh
How does this work?
Figured out. It well worth to come here. 🙂
Question? Why are you buying it a month ahead of release?
@@mcshiggitypilot5901 good question, mainly it's because it's something I have a passion for. I just love flight sim and I wanted to haha.
I buyed the premium deluxe version, ATR is the only plane i want from the aviator, i have buyed it for msfs2020...
@@rabbie68 Good choice! I know it's not something everyone wants or needs.
What version of FS 2024 is best to get the Steam or the Microsoft
Guess that's personal preference. I've only ever used the Microsoft store version for PC. Depends if you want access to your steam friends list or not
Thanks for your reply am wondering if my addons will work with the new sim as I have the Steam edition of 2020
You're very welcome. If you're talking about marketplace purchases, then I'm sure in their latest dev stream they confirmed you'd be able to transfer them too. If its 3pty addons, you just need to copy them to the community folder same as before. Of course we've not seen it in practice yet, so pinch of salt required for now.
@@stevemcdonald6296 you need the same platform, form steam to ms store, stuff will NOT transfer.
I won’t buy MSFS2024.
I will still tight to MSFS2020 and XP12
Hell yeah, if it works for you then that's cool too! No judgement here. Happy flying!
@@monan101 Thanks a lot. Happy flying to you as well!
I'm planning too, is it/will it be worth it?
Don't want to give you financial advice haha, there's a bunch of cool planes, but you'd need to check if it's worth you're hard earned cash
will there be dog fighting or is it not for that ?
Not unless there's a mod for it. They don't want it to be a combat sim. DCS is probably the best for that, that is if you don't mid spending weeks learning which buttons to press.
@@monan101 yeah what was kind of my issue with DCS
Me too, as much as I love it it's a bit too hardcore for my liking. It's fun to mess around with though.
There are only 2 planes included only in the Aviator's edition that I would fly more than once so it's not worth the extra $100 to me. I went with the Premium Deluxe Edition.
Yeah, definitely agree it's not for everyone. Premium deluxe would be the sweet spot for most people I think. I just need it all haha
I've already made up my mind I'm buying the Aviator Edition. Then I'm going to upgrade my pc.
@@GBM6988 I'm doing exactly the same, hoping I can just upgrade to 64gb of ram and that's it
Never preorder.
Unless it's flight sim haha
@@monan101 but why ?
Had a good launch for me last time, so I'm happy to take the gamble again
