One thing i noticed on my PC is that even though I get lower FPS on the same settings, the simulator seems to flow better in 2024. I have yet to notice the random lag spikes and micro stutters I encounter in 2020. Good video!
Thanks, I know exactly what you mean. I'll be interested to see if the stutters when on final/landing have gone when we have custom airports in it. Those are the most annoying for me.
I got into the alpha. two things that I find stunning and I hope isnt due to the small number of people playing is the preformance. on the same computer I flew 2020 on I am able to virtually max out 2024 with no notable degradation to performance. i79700k rtx3090ti 32gig or ram it feels smoother no rand choppy frame drops. The other thing is the performance is so good while increasing the fidelity just beyond 2020. like 2020 looks good but once you get close to the ground is feels very 2d. like at all times at all alts the world feels alive 3d it dosn't feel like a bing map over lay. I still feel the actual simulation is a little mushy. being a real pilot in realirl. but I may never touch xplane12 again after this hits full release.
Yeah, I'm pretty worried for xp12 to be honest. I still dip between the two, but 2024 has me seriously impressed. I think performance wise from what I'm hearing others is the reason for the huge performance increase for majority of people is the increased amount of items streamed to the game. This includes planes. I think this will change once we start adding custom scenery, but I hope not!
I like the avatar mode that's different. I'd like to see a decent replay mode like X-Plane one and also the end of having to remove the community folder before each update what a pain that was.
Since you’ve mentioned Vatsim. One major potential issue I saw in the Alpha is that if you change the time of day, the historical weather is auto-tied to the hour of the day. Which means that you log in on Vatsim in the evening, but you don’t want to fly in the night, if you switch your time, your live weather changes automatically - your winds will be off, your QNH… this would bind you to real time, unless Asobo decides to make the historical weather a feature with On/Off button…
Damn that's a real good spot I didn't even realise. I change the time alot aswell as I hate flying at night 😂 It might be worth posting that on the msfs forums just to give them a heads up. Will suck if we have to fly at the real time all the time, for me at least.
Thank you! I'm fully expecting navigraph to remain part of it, but now, hopefully, we will just have the option to use Microsofts own version as well. This is great, especially for the people on a budget.
AMD 7800x3D 32GB Ram 4070 Super Think I might need to go to 64GB of ram though if I want to try and run ultra, high runs fine get a few stutters when I am recording. Obviously this might all be different with custom scenary and airports in the game.
@@crispeay I often record videos while flying, and I've noticed a significant drop in fps in 2020 when recording compared to just flying. Currently, I'm using an RX 6700, but I'm considering upgrading to either a 4080 Super or a 7900XT. I've been running 2020 on ultra settings, and I'd like to maintain that level of detail in 2024 as well. For me, it is worth every cent.
So, is there photogrammetry in this alpha built or not? Some testers say it is other say it is not. If the latter performance tests do not really make much sense, because PG is one of the biggest performance killers at least in MSFS 2020.
You know what, after this video, I did see others, some saying it does have, and some saying it doesn't. Honestly, now I'm not sure. It must have streamed bing maps 100% but I did just fly into London and most buildings were just generic blocks with some handcrafted places, but when I flew to Barcelona you can see it in the video the city is almost perfect. I actually am not sure now and can't give you an answer 😂
Yes, in the original MS flight simulator there was a key command to watch your plane fly by in external camera mode. There was also a tower mode, which was pretty cool. Was hoping these features would be implemented in the new version.
Instead of continuing updating and fixing bugs on MSFS 2020 version they just come up with another version. That max was supposed to release but instead they added to 2024 version what a strategy.
2024 is build from the ground up, it's not just a copy of 2020. They said that the things they wanted to implement were not possible in 2020 so they had to recreate the game.
The data limitations make it impossible to completely fix 2020, the new sim doesn’t have said limitations, and as the comment above says, it’s built from the ground up with things implemented that couldn’t be put into 2020.

Agreed did you also notice the CPU usage seemed better. I know it's not a very current build they sent out but I thought it was damn good.
@simmybear31 yup I had a huge improvement in cpu usage. It's good early signs, but I'll brace myself for bugs on release 😂
@@crispeay I'll take a chance already ordered my copy.
Same 👍

The career mode seems intriguing and detailed
I'm definitely looking forward to doing that! Hope your well dude 🙏

Didn’t know NY was a popular cruise ship destination.
Think there was a few too many for sure 😂
Excellent video. Good commentary thank you. Subscribed. I hope they retain Navigraph integration into the database.

I'm so glad they brought back 'Flyby' and 'Tower View'.
Someone asked about this yesterday, but I didn't get on in time to check it out. Is it definitely confirmed?
@@crispeay NO. I'm being sarcastic.
@@dasdguy7606 damn it, don't get me excited 😂
I genuinely thought I missed out on finding it.
@@crispeay I'd give up 2/3 of all the bells and whistles of MSFS for a return of both.
Probably losing settings to keep your profile clean for launch.
Looks great! Mind sharing your system specs?

I received the Tech Alpha invite but decided to not download it. I’ll just wait.
When did you sign up? I signed up 5 days ago and never got an invite.
i played it and when it disappeared monday morning i was really missing it !
One of the best previews I've seen, thanks for making the effort!
Thanks, appreciate the kind words 🫡
Yess sirr you just earned a sub
Thank you!

Does 2024 offer flyby mode?
Do you mean flyby mode as in the external cameras like xplane?
If you do I didn't find one, but it does have replay integrated now.
