As someone who has driven Audi's most of his life, readers will be surprised to find my take. It is fair to say the Macan is by far the best luxury compact SUV in its segment. By comparison, the Audi Q5 3.0 (V6) offers 272 hp with an exterior and interior that dates back nearly six years (with some minor refinements). The Macan S has underneath its hood a V6 twin-turbo producing 340hp with a base price only slightly higher than the Q5 (49,900). The PDK (Porsche's double clutch transmission) is far superior to Audi's traditional 8-speed transmission. The gears transition quicker and smoother. One look at the vehicle's interior and you'll be reminded by the benchmark of sports cars (the 911). The combined effect of sport and luxury is magnificent. If you are in the market for a compact luxury SUV, the Macan is the optimal choice.The hurdle is getting one as they are (rightfully so) very difficult to come by currently at dealerships.
Just ordered it for my daughter. Its absolutely stunning, cannot wait for it to be delivered. The way it drives, just got me. Plus, for a Porsche its pretty cost effective. We got the S though not the Turbo, the price difference was 40,000+ vesus 70,000 for only a few minor details. I don't see the worth. Great Video!

I priced out a nicely equipped Macan S for $68K, not sure what the $78K tested car had on it. Personally, I'd just buy a slightly used 2013 CPO Audi S4 for $50K.
I love the exterior, and I've always wanted a Porsche 911, but I HATE the five bazillion buttons on the center console, and the interior in general. I had a BMW X3 for a few years and I LOVED it. I even prefer the simpler interior layout of an X3. I'd go for another X3 and save TONS of dough instead of buying this.
Americans don't drive diesels. If they brought it to Canada it would sell very well as our diesel is a lower cost fuel than regular gas. Either way these things are very hard on fuel.

Honestly, performance aside, I would much rather a loaded Mazda CX-5. You are never going to use that much power in the real world, the options list is a joke, most of the options come standard in the CX-5 and in my opinion the CX-5 also looks better.
I'd just buy a cayenne diesel s, ( get mad torques and it sounds nice too actually, which is strange for a diesel) this is a waste of money, and you will still have that cloud over your head hinting you have one because you couldn't afford a cayenne despite the diesel s being cheaper.
Why do people buy costly cars when the sole purpose of a car is to move from one place to another? You can a buy a cheaper car and use the remaining money to roam around the country.

Porsche are more reliable than range rovers. Range Rovers are known mostly for it's electrical issues which is very expensive and serves as the vehicle's life cycle. As a result, it's not a smart buy even though they are nice to look at. Unfortunately, having Ford as the parent company for Range Rover will hinder it's ability to make reliable vehicles.
Porsche cars are so overpriced for nothing; they aren't better than what you get from BMW or Cadillac. There are far better options for that kind of money.
***** stupid way to put it.... the GTR, M4, or any other sports car for that matter is a SPORTS CAR. People spend 100K on these SUV's because 1. if they have 100k to spend on a car, they probably already own a sports car or two 2. This is a SUV, its all season (more so than any AWD sports car) , fits the family, has ground clearance. It has wayyy more storage space, and its very practical. The most practical sports car still isnt nearly as practical as this macan.
michael G First of all I do not believe a do it all vehicle. It might have better storage space than a Cayman, but definitely less than a X5. It has better ground clearance than a car, but definitely can't beat a JEEP Wrangler off road. Fits family, but a minivan fits much more people comfortably. Goes fast, but a GTR kicks its butt. At 100k, you can not call it a practical car. I am not saying it's a bad car because I want one! I just think that at 100k, there are a lot of other choices.

Actually no. The body roll was the worst on the base model (steel spring suspension and 18" wheels w/ summer tires).
Of course it would reduce the body roll but honestly, who is going to buy a brand new car and buy new a set of tires? It's not practical.
